The DCEU is about to undergo some major reworking and restructuring under the leadership of James Gunn. But before that kicks into gear, there are still a few projects that need to be released… since they were already made. One of those is Shazam! Fury of the Gods! A movie that exists and that has bombed at the box office (Maybe because James Gunn indirectly told people that it doesn’t really matter? Or maybe because Dwayne Johnson stole away its main antagonist? Who knows!)
Shazam! Fury of the Gods definitely raises some questions. Like why isn’t Black Adam in this thing? Why did that 6,000 year old fall in love with a high school kid? How much did Skittles pay for that product placement? Can Wonder Woman resurrect people now?
To answer all these questions, check out the pitch meeting that led to Shazam! Fury of the Gods.

“She’s a 6000 year old god and he’s a minor so it’s pretty romantic”
Yeah checks out with greek mythology
nope. for greek mythology they need to be closely related.
@@LednacekZ maybe they thought "isn't that a bit weird? Let's double down on the age thing instead and have another minor want to hook up with centuries old Wonder Woman" - That's much more acceptable.
Also, imagine if they did this in reverse where an older guy falls for a minor girl?
*Jacob from Twilight* - Hold my beer
It would be perfect if she was a vampire - Twilight series, Buffy with Angel, etc.
Fits in with modern Hollywood as well.
Maybe she could transform into a cow or something first and therefore make it less weird
It really shows how bad things at dc were that one actor could just decide that Shazam wasn’t allowed to fight his main villain.
Wait, that really happened?
Well, to be fair, it sounds like he was promised a fight against Superman before he took the role on the first movie, and him holding to that deal isn't a bad thing.
@@twostep919 Yeah, it did.

That shade towards Dwayne letting his ego drive him to NOT let Black Adam fight his literal archenemy and be the major opponent for Superman had me in tears.
@beepboop funny enough, I actually do believe the guy is actually one of the very few genuine people in Hollywood, in terms of casual likeability and fun to hang with. But it's definitely a different story when it comes to films. The dude literally has a contract to never lose in a fight and never be anything less than the alpha male of the entire film. The characters feeling like two different people is not just limited to Billy. I also noticed it in Darla. She has also aged since the first movie but the adult actress keeps playing her as if she's 6.
...your argument and elaboration contradict each other. wouldn't it help maintain consistency if Darla's personality doesn't change over two movies...?

@enochlo9156 complaint: child Darla and adult Darla felt like different characters in the first movie
This is now even worse, because adult Darla acts like a 6 year old even though child Darla is even older now
@@p3ter9000 ...timelines aside, you got things even more wrong than the op. adult darla in the first movie was just as energetic and jubilant as child darla, remember how elated she was when she realized she has super speed? Then the final fight began, she pouted and announced to the group they should "kick the villain's butt really, really hard". They were the same character, they both refrain from using strong words and are very optimistic.
I can't argue with your second point because we don't have an exact idea on how much older she is, but as far as we could tell, it's been less than a year since the first movie's events.
The skittles ad was so in your face it reminded me of the old subway product placements and I just love that Zachary Levi can't seem to escape over the top advertising

Yeah yeah yeah!
The end of that pitch meeting, as someone who hasn’t seen the movie, has me so bewildered that I’m actually stunned
Wonder Woman does what?
In the DC movies, Wonder Woman is literally the daughter of Zeus. The movie is about the staff containing the powers of the gods, which the daughters of Atlas are angry about because they claim that the wizard Shazam stole Atlas' powers and they want those powers back (because that power is their birthright). So, they're trying to take all the Shazam powers back by using the staff. In the end, Billy sacrifices himself by overcharging the staff so that it explodes (while being contained inside a magic dome so nobody else will get hurt). And this turns him from superhero form back to regular (dead) Billy. Well, as the daughter of Zeus, Wonder Woman can refill the staff with god powers (apparently, you only need one of the six letters in SHAZAM, I guess). So, now the staff has the power of Zeus. So, that causes dead Billy to become an alive superhero again (it's not clear if he would turn back into a dead Billy or a living Billy, but nobody seems to think about that).
Wonder Woman lays her hands on a wizard’s staff and Billy rises
It’s called the power of bad writing.
