  • I share my truth about the gear and how this may impact your UA-cam success. You can start with what you have and also start on a small budget. However once you decide that you want your endeavor to grow and you start pushing yourself to do more, then this is where the gear does matter, especially as it relates to time.
    I started a podcast, a UA-cam channel, and even a filmmaking business with what I had at the time, but eventually I invested back into that business to actually grow the business. Whether photography, filmmaking, design, or any other creative endeavor as a beginner, just get your start, and slowly build your inventory of gear as you desire to scale that endeavor.

    Great advice, Kevin. A fellow photographer friend of mine recently said to me “for lack of inspiration, we often focus all our attention on gear.”

    • @KevinRossRN
      @KevinRossRN  2 роки тому +1

      Yes! And as much as the gear helps us get things done, you still have to want to go out (or whatever it takes) to go get those things done and push yourself creatively.
      Although I have to say that having a minimal kit certainly does help push you creatively since you have to really stretch to get a certain look or have a certain outcome without all of the “stuff.”

      @@KevinRossRN That’s right Kevin, gear still matters and fits into the overall balance with everything else. Thank you for the great content and advice!

    Those early chapters are the strongest foundations - without that grind and struggle you wouldn't have the notion you have today. Always makes me laugh when kids come over and think it's all "just happened" out of luck or bank of M&D!

      I know brother. That overnight success syndrome is very real on these platforms. One of the reasons why I keep old videos up just to see the progress. 🤯😬

    I got a good vibe from you the first time I saw one of your videos and now I know why. Good on you for doing the work and for understanding that everyone starts from a different place.

    • @KevinRossRN
      @KevinRossRN  2 роки тому +1

      Well I appreciate that. And I know not everyone starts at the same place, but with some investment in ourselves we can all end up on a path that we never thought possible (hopefully a good one 😉).
      Really glad you’re here.

    Good advice all around. Thanks for your perspective, which can be so easy to lose in YT land. My God every time a new product comes out the overload is tough to avoid. Also love the BTS clips you work in - inspiration in small bites!

      Yeah, and as a tech reviewer it’s tough to find a balance (I know, a rough life). But, one of the things I meant to touch on is that the majority of the views come from search, so people are looking for that review or perspective.
      Just trying to find a balance, which can change as often as the tech. 😉
      Appreciate you 🤘

    The quality of the gear you get does matter, good insights Kevin

    • @KevinRossRN
      @KevinRossRN  2 роки тому

      Indeed. I think we’ve all been down that road a couple times where we’ve gotten things we didn’t need or ended up buying something for the “now” and not realizing that it would have been better to invest a little more to help us scale with something that would better serve that purpose for growth.

      Hey, it’s great to have Italy represented here. And the image quality was just recently upgraded within the last couple of weeks, which I’ve been working toward.
      It’s a process. It’s hard, but patience is key. 🤘
      So great to see you here.

    A little something different based on many of the questions that I get here. I always encourage you to start with what you have, and it's easy to view another creator's setup as overwhelming or something impossible to achieve for yourself, but do understand that much of what you're seeing is years of sweat equity.
    Invest back into yourself and endeavor as you can, and take advantage of the opportunities that you're presented with as you move along in that journey.
