One of the best looking 60's I've seen, flexes surprisingly well for leaf springs too👌Hard to beat the look of the old boxy 4WDs👌 Nice to see a young guy who knows his shit and has good taste, really impressed with this set up, maybe my favourite modified episode so far.
The 60 series has became one of the biggest 4wd drive cult followings then any other 4bie. With its true authenticity, sheer rawness, reliability and the king of the road feeling. Eyes follow you wherever you go in this vehicle. It is back to basic mechanical work where if a problem happens on or off the road, you have a higher chance to fix the problem, compared to modern electrical vehicles.Older toyota vechice eg 40 series and the 60 series, should be highly respected for making Toyota their name. That's why new Toyota vehicles are so expensive in these times. But the Good Old 60 will just keep chugging along.
This is the kind of adventure vehicles we should appreciate the most. For the money of a new subcompact car taking you on adventures thru the parking lot, you could have this taking you and your gear far and beyond, riding an awesome machine. Love the build
My 1985 BJ 60 here in Canada had a non turbo 3.4L 4 holes (4 Cyl.)and it was a 5 speed (but that's Canada eh..) She was a stump puller. We drove it from Inuvik NWT down in to the Baja in Mexico. We were glad the AC worked down there. And later drove it across Canada from Inuvik NWT to Nova Scotia Canada. No regrets with that rig.
love ya 60 series nice job.been waiting for this video great job ..i still own a 60 series GXL electric windows after fifteen years most reliable vehicle ever running 3f has 500 kms on it still running strong towed everything been to lots of places in austraila will never sell it i have found 33 inch tyres the best to run your speedo spot on ...also own 75 series ute 1hz garrert turbo both very capable vehicles go the old landcruisers
Toyota tuff built to last a life time, strong durable and relatively easy to work on in the middle of nowhere should something go wrong, great tourer and very well set up..
Back in the late 90's I would read the Aussie 4WD Action magazines here in Canada. I had a BJ60 at the time and would ogle the barn doors, aftermarket turbos and FF axles. I've liked all the videos in this series.
The four speed was dropped at the end of 82. 1983 saw the introduction of the 5 speed. I had a four speed '82 "G" fitted with a Fairey overdrive . Excellent system. With your engine temps it would be interesting to see what they would be if those Stedi 8.5" lights were removed.
Hooray! a 60 series. It may have been old and clunky and slow but I loved the old 60. Would have great with a turbo in ours especially pulling the 2 tons of van behind it. Ours had the same centre cut barn doors as this one. So much better than the drop down style. Worst thing about the 60? Offset rear shafts that caused the bolts on the left rear wheel to snap off, happened twice with ours.
10:39 The Cruiser always had pretty good lights but due to Australian standards they were converted to 12 volt instead of 24 which resulted in huge voltage drops to the headlights due to the light 24 volt wiring (between 2 and 4 volts). Heavy wiring and a relay make a hell of a difference.
Yes, have owned a '86, 62 series Sahara for the last 20 years, 2nd owner, done 600k no rebuild, still runs like the day I bought it, not selling it anytime soon either, it's tuff, got class and character, the best most reliable vehicle out of a dozen and a half I have ever owned. Just got back from getting it muddy in Victorian high country, living in SA, great time.
I'm guessing, but with the 33s' recovery gear, Jerry cans, winch tools, spare tyre rack, small fridge and 35ah LSA bat, solar blanket on the roof basic camping gear etc around 2.5 ton, which would be close to max gvm, I have no drawers took the back back seats out, no roof rack, noisy, top heavy and juice guzzling things they are, and never had a need, do most of my traveling alone. Have to weigh it some time.
@@John-td9cp 5 inches of lift plus 35's is way over the legal limit. nothing to be jealous of you can have a modified 4wd with lift but come on keep it legal you dont need all that he doesnt even do hardcore tracks
Yeah mate I have, don't have money to engineer it as it costs thousands. Figured it would be cheaper to go through the defect process as the car is basically immaculate
Throw that 190ltr tank in before you go over the pits - I believe that a long tank invalidates Aus ADR, at least over here in Wait Awhile (www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/modify-a-light-vehicle-simple-inspection.asp - see "Simple: Fuel system modifications")... so may as well get it all certified at once.
Alfonso Casillas it's not illegal to lift your vehicle at all there's just a maximum height for body + suspension lift you can go to, i believe this 60 got defected the other day for their lift by some shit bloke traffic cop
Laws are different depending on the state. Generally you can do what you like but more than a 2" lift needs to be certified by an engineer. In states without inspections you can usually get away with a fair bit of lift, but some Eastern states have started cracking down on it recently.
Yeah mate 2 inch is max this is about 7 inchs including tyres. Unfortunately I dont have money for engineering. I have kept the lift specifications to the engineering maximum so was hoping to one day get it engineered
I guess I am unlucky. I had a branch come up through the engine bay and rip my radiator, hoses, and fan to pieces in the middle of nowhere. The Achilles heel of the FJ62
Great 60 Sivan! Just a quick question on your rear bar wheel and jerry attachments, you said that they attach to the factory bar. Do you have any more info on them as I would love to put some on my old FJ60. As always thanks Ronny for showing us great rigs!
Loved the way you called it a Gelender-wagen..Geländer in German meaning a staircase handrail, bannister..they call them a Gelände (terrain-) wagen. cheers
Can you make a video about the car weight? What is the car's weight and how much is the load? What is the weight of protectors? What is the weight of tires? If the car is a 1000kg by factory, how much can be loaded not to restrict mobility? thanks
Do you have 61s in Australia, I haven´t seen those in any of these australian you tube channels? Here in Finland those are pretty popular among offroaders and because many of them are twin locked from factory their axles are desired stuff. 12H-T was mentioned so I assume you have those 61s?
Great 60, very clever kid!
He will go far in life, very well thought out
Cheers legend!

Top effort mate.
Thanks, beautiful truck , we bought our FJ62 new here in the States . Good to see a young gentleman appreciate a old truck.
Good bloke. Very humble. One of the nicest 60s around

So nice to see a young man appreciating a 60 series.
I love my 80s but there's something about the lines and shape of a 60 that make me fall in love every time I see one.
Cool car as well brah
Very well planned build.
Respect.
I do believe that you even impressed Ronny Dahl...
60 Series Cruiser. I had to stop working and click on it.

Awesome rig and a top young bloke!
that rig is gorgeous. I love the old yotas. Can't wait to get my '86 4runner back on the road :)
I like the format of the rig walk around. I wish I had seen this video before I did my walk around video.

Very nice mate, very jealous, got an old petrol 60 thats full of holes but still cant get rid of it
great rig!
I’d get asked twice a week where my solar screens come from! Time for another 60 I think, when you can get East! 👍
60 series my favourite car ever

up the 60!!!
Gonna take a bit to get over the pits with this one
