Sitting on 35” MT’S, 3” suspension lift, 2” body lift, rear locker heaps more goodies! And I absolutely love working on it! I love driving it taking it to events but for the last 2 years it’s sat in the shed untouched and 85% finished but last month I made a decision to start working on it again and she is nearly done! You bloody legend! I came to the channel because of The Dirty 30 and I think the new beast is coming along really well. You are creating a MONSTER of a 4wd!
@@Thecain69 It's good to see some people from the States appreciate how we Aussies like to use our 4wd to their full potential. As much as how I love you Yanks patriotism and love of country history.
Shaun... The 30 MK2 is beautiful and done right. I'm here in the US and having had two 1st Gen 4Runners, '84 & '85 both standard. '85 was the 1st year for the 22RE EFI petrol motor here in the US and I was fortunate enough to get a turbo model. Not too say the 22R wasn't a tank and reliable as nails, just meant eliminating the need for a Weber carb altogether. The '84 & '85 1st Gen 4Runners were the only years with the straight front axle. '86+ went too IFS.... I've driven the 2nd Gen Land Cruisers with the 3400 or 3.4L petrol V6 and IMO were total pigs. The 22RE mated with an Atlas Twin Stick T-case with massive gear reduction meant I could run 35's. Used Deaver 4" lift spring packs frt & rear, chromoly axle shafts, FabTech coilovers, trussed axles, cross-over steering, JBA header with high mount exhaust. ARB locker in the rear and ARB front bumper. Sold it with 435K on it in 94". The 2.7L EFI came out and was the go too motor for Tacoma's vs. the V6. Now having a 2 Gen FJ Cruiser if you will. The best mod is a SAS, the 4.0L petrol motor has plenty of grunt. And came as an auto or 6spd manual and a TRD Supercharger I opted for the auto... and for X amount of $ you can get a brand new Turbo Diesel motor that's produced in the Hilux from South America with the ECU and accessories. All bolts right up in the FJ Cruisers. Mine is on a AllPro Offroad lift with coilovers, tailing arms, Uniball UCA's adjustable panhard bar in the rear. The diesel is not in the budget, but many people use the Lexus V8 out of the full size sedans. I've seen the V8's put down 500+ hp too the wheels. But the diesel is the ideal choice for torque.
Same except I'd do it in a 4Runner and do a Toyota Diesel swap or... Just keep stock has motor and turbo it for more power and effeciency which would be the more affordable route for the time being since I'm in high school.

The new Dirty 30 looks good so far can’t wait to see it hit the trails
Good on ya Shauno...thank you for showing us the build!!!
Way to many other 4wd shows have these 'big' rigs but never talk you through it in detail like you.
Also love the fussyness about period correctness and sticking to Toyota original!!! Cant wait for part2!!
I’m in the process of building mine and have just recently chopped it and that thing has been my inspiration👌 keep up the good work
Hey Shauno,
Just started watching your dirty 30 build. I've been following your channel for a little while now and love every episode you guys do.
I'm just starting my 80 series chop and build myself. Your dirty 30 build gives me inspiration. Keep up the great work :)
Love the build shauno, This thing is not going to disappoint, Glad you went the extra mile in painting the chassis.
This is the truck that is making me so eager to watch the future 4x4 actions!!
I cant wait to see this on the road! keep it up man.
I miss the old Dirty 30, but can't wait to see that beast in action! Good job Shauno!
That looks absolutely sick shauno 100% agree on the colour choice dune beige is what it was called on the 40 series which IMO is the best colour of cruiser, those tips at the end have definitely helped as I am attempting a build that is certifiably insane..... Not to give too much away but 79 chassis, 40 series ute body and a 5.9 cummins. Cant wait to see the finished product mate dirty30 is by far my fav 4x4 of all time.
looking great Shaun
saw this at Brissy show and your on your way to a special rig when its complete but it will never be complete there always a work in progress
cheers
There's 'stuff' on youtube and there's 'stuff'. This I gotta tells ya is one of the best vids I've watched in a long while. Sorta don't want it to end. I'm hooked, so will be watching all rest of the build.
Gives me inspiration to have a 'crack' at doing a build myself, have 'ummed & arred' over the years of doing a same but different. Anyways I've always got these vids to look back on.
Cheers & beers on a great build (so far).
Big fan from the United States here, found this channel a few months ago and I’ve binge watched it since. I’m stoked to see this build video on a vehicle I basically can’t have here in the us, and as a Toyota die hard I’m soo excited to find out which motor and trans you went with! Keep it up! Also the dirty 30 looks so damn good behind you!!
Hey shauno build its absolutely mint thanks for shareing all the vids and knowledge me and my brother seen your episode on frazer island bought some 4x4 and just did 10day east coast trip ended up the sandy cape and honestly got us hooked cheers mate goodluck with the rest of the build keen to see the dirty 30 finished
Thanks for posting this. I've wondered about how the dirty 30 was built since I found this channel. Cheers from California.
Thanks Shaun for giving the outback the best landcruser I Wana re make one❤
Absolute weapon of a build can’t wait to see her out doing what she was built to do.
HYPE! was so sad to see the dirty 30 having to be decommissioned. But now the new 30 looks INSANE! Good job Shaun!
Glad to see you getting that beast back on the road again can’t wait to see it on the tracks
IT is awesome that Australia gives you the oportunity to make such projects and this ... beast :) to be legal for driving on road.Great build !!!
Love the look of this machine. Good choice on keeping the single round headlamps.
It was a real inspiration to watch this modification. I will def go your way when i start mid this year. I hope i can get all good parts as i continue with the project.
Shaun, it looks real nice you did a great job this far keep at it and it will be a great finish product and you will have an old friend with new life with you back on the tracks.
It looks so good from the front and I also love the colour Choice. 👍🏻😃
I dont really have a question shaun but i you have passed down some advice that i have taken on board with my project so thank you very much mate . EPIC build mate congrats
I'm a Patrol person but this thing looks sick and I can't wait to see it out on the tracks
Man I'm loving this build! It's been a long process getting my xj Cherokee "expedition worthy". Nothing too extreme but she does good in any terrain. Getting closer all the time to my dream of touring some of the tracks you guys run! Thanks for all the inspiration, cant wait to see how your trails compare to what I run in America!
