Couldn't listen to this song for decades as it reminded me of when they split. I was devastated. I mean really devastated. How can people who don't even know I exist have such an impact on our lives? Long live Madness.
They took it as far as they could go after Mike Barson left the band their songs were good but not as strong as they were, they were great for their time we always love them for it.
I was just thinking the same thing - the B-side was Maybe in another life. It was the day the music died. But thankfully it wasn't - a combination of the music and the fans!
Isnt it crazy? Dont even know these people, nor do they know me, but they have made such an impact on my life. Their music got me through some pretty shitty times, and if it wasent for Woody i would have never of started playing drums. Long live madness indeed!
For some reason this song started playing in my head so I had to search on UA-cam to listen to it I've been a massive Madness fan since my teens and still am in my 50's 3:45
I get what you mean as far as their singles go, but theres alot more underrated tracks, like album tracks, or songs only released on EPs, some prime examples like Coldest Day, Not Home Today, Inanity Over Christmas, Deceives the Eye. I think its an underrated single, but not their most underrated. :)
1:38 I love how Suggs wears most of the hats from all the music videos up to that point, as a memory to all their previous work, since this IS Madness' final song from their original run from before the early 90's when they came back together... Abit like the last Thunderbirds episode 'Give or take a million' where they used a lot of the musical score from the first episode...
Madness' videos are the best, hands down. Even to this date. And a powerful anti-depression cure with no side effects rather having your feet longing for dancing..
They did return as a four piece and called themselves the madness that did not go well with some members of the band not to do a reunion two years after they officially split up.
Then they returned fleetingly in the summer of 1999 with Lovestruck, their only new song (i.e. not counting re-releases of old favourites) to be a Top 40 hit after this one.
Such a sad time. We knew this was Madness's last song before they split. I really didn't know which group to follow after years of being a Nutty Boys fan. Then some of the band came back as The Madness & that album was totally awesome. ❤️❤️
The Madness is so underrated, great tracks.. I Pronounce You is a favourite of mine. Defo missed Woody and Bedders though, not madness without them two... Glad their back together!
@cheekyboymashups the b-side of the original single was dedicated to a little girl who was born with no limbs. The boys donated most of their royalties to a charity in her name. I think it was Sara. God bless 'em.
I remember buying a bootleged VHS copy of this back in the 90's before the days of youtube. Love this song and I've been a fan going on 30 years now. Love these guys!!!
Grrreat record! Just tops! Loved madness. Bugger me tho, 1986, 33 years ago as I type... where the hell did THAT go!? 17 when this came out, turned 50 earlier this year... feck-a-duck!!! 😨😨😨 so THAT'S what happened to the Testcard girl? ... she grew up to be a member of Madness!!! 😂😂😂
Great song tinged with a hint of sadness....for me anyway. Loved Madness since my teens...they were and still am a top band. Even met Suggs on a filming location in Leeds in 1999.
So many train cancellations the madness of rail privatisation where millions wanted trains now ghosted from previous timetables. At least the song is worth waiting for.
I've been a nutty boy since I was 10 in 1977, and I still can't get enough of these guys.( I was given my nick name because I was such a fan ). Gaz Smash. It must be love...yeah, I think it is.
This song makes me so sad to listen to because it was their last song before they broke up in the 80s thank god they got back together but it was probably good for them to take a break too.
Mhm. I read an interview about their break up and it honestly sounds like they were just driving each other Mad. They needed that break, but its great their back.
Hair today....gone tomorrow....... Sorry guys....Great song.....Bad barber Chas....... Great return to form....whatever that means...... I thought Wonderful was great and i thought Keep moving was great, so i'm em correct....lol..... Keep up the good work NB11
An anti apartheid song during a time when the UK government was in support of the regime in the delusional idea that it would stop Marxism. Quite a bold song at the time.
But still a really good song. Correct me if I'm wrong but Barso was on this track even though he wasn't in the music video. He left in 84 but came back to do this song right?
I searched this Song so long, i think it was banned on UA-cam Germany a Long time, but i have the divine Madness DVD so its no Problem, love this song 🤝
1:44 is Lee's ghost not wanting to parachute out of the helicopter because he dies when he tries to take the pictures later on in the video! That's why at the very beginning you see him laying down with a medic over him and his head falls off! :O
It's strange and uncanny how Graham Mcpherson looks so much like David Boreanaz in this video. The same height (1.85m), hair (roughly). Even when he puts on a smile it's the same characteristic one... Ear to ear, Fun loving, wide jawed and flashing healthy teeth. Takes me back to all the "Angel" episodes where Mr. Boreanaz was given plot chances to break character from his brooding Vampire mannerisms and act like a happy go lucky guy. So funny.
Such an underrated song. One of my favourites
Mhm

The most underrated Madness song ever! :D
It really is. They never play it in concert either
@@davidbates1896
It isn't the most underrated though, it is on best ofs and was a single, I'd say the album tracks are more underrated
Yesterday’s Men?

Absolutely one of the greatest songs Madness have done.

I was trying to decide whether to take the Night Bus,night Tube/train or Night Boat home.

I couldn't agree more.
Brilliant
A bunch of lads who turn out some crackin tracks and who always appear to be having a laugh while doing it. 😂
You cant go wrong, can u?
I love it when they sing "it's black and white". Such a catchy song.
Exactly 👌 thats the best part its Black and white dont try to hide it dont try
Agreed, such an awesome line and as with most Madness songs, the harmonies are spot on.
🤢
The feds when they search my house for illicit substances
"Waiting for the train that never comes" sounds like the train station at Hartlepool. Lol.
Omg i live in peterlee 😂
OMG Hartlepool has a train staition
You wanna getting on at Sunderland mate 😂😂😂👍
Madness really are timeless. And this is one of my favourites from them. Love it...
Madness' videos are the best, hands down. Even to this date. And a powerful anti-depression cure with no side effects rather having your feet longing for dancing..
Yes. When I'm down, this is one of the few things that can still crack a smile.
Quasi .... completamente d'accordo con questa tua riflessione sbalorditiva e folle😉 ... 👍😃.... W THE MADNESS FOREVER
love this song one of my favs and considering this was meant to be there final bow when they origanally split in 1986 I say they went out with a high
They did return as a four piece and called themselves the madness that did not go well with some members of the band not to do a reunion two years after they officially split up.
@@alanfox4172 I know you posted this a long time ago now, At least Woody had success with his band after Madness-Voice of the Beehive

That was such an underated album, and some great songs such as In wonder, Nail down th days & Nightmare nightmare
When they broke up it was losing part of the family but they've come back stronger and better with old age😁
The Madness is so underrated, great tracks.. I Pronounce You is a favourite of mine. Defo missed Woody and Bedders though, not madness without them two... Glad their back together!
Madness are just fantastic ❤
MADNESS...one more reason to love the brits!
For my mate little Johna , ex 5th regiment RA , RIP mate , always remember you playing this song in Germany, memories pal
the great thing about MADNESS video's was the fact that they all looked like they where having a bloody good time!

@cheekyboymashups the b-side of the original single was dedicated to a little girl who was born with no limbs. The boys donated most of their royalties to a charity in her name. I think it was Sara. God bless 'em.
Definition of Madness: Insanity with style.
Ein wahrhaft vielschichtiges Meisterwerk. Perfekte Mischung zwischen Melodie und Rhythmus
That walk always makes me smile
Yes!!!!! I do it all the time just by my self around the house

I don't claim to fully understand them, but I love this band.
Always delicately surreal. Fine.

There are 3 reasons why I love Madness
1 The songs
2 The videos
3 And the major fact is that Suggs is a Chelsea fan. 1:27 1:27

The Specials, The Beat, Bad Manners, The Selecter, The Bodysnatchers. The genre is 2-Tone Ska, which was dominated by Madness and The Specials.
