It was wonderful, I never listened to the radio back then and can't remember if they played any of it. It was all Stones and Zeppelin I think. My Panasonic Platinum boombox ran on Ska, Marley, Kraftwerk, the Pistols.. what a great time for good music.

I remember seeing how few hits their new material has on youtube, and I thought: what a pity, how the mighty have fallen... and then I saw the videos of their live concerts, and how they still play to gigantic crowds. They must be making some really good money, playing live :D In the time of UA-cam, they're making their money and success offline. Not bad.
@Aydee2020 They had the best presence onstage of all the acts on the bill, apart from Pulp maybe. This performance was so incredible, I wish I could go back
I saw Madders several years ago at Bedgebury Pinetum and they were just the best. In the crowd near us was a chap in all the skinhead regalia Dr Marten boots skin tight jeans checked Ben Sherman shirt Harrington jacket and the baddest skinhead ever. He looked as if he had seen many a fight with scars all over. Perhaps not someone to invite to tea at your grannies. Then a little lad of perhaps 10 grabbed the fellas hand and said "Grandad can I have a drink please? "
I was there and i had my son with me and he managed to sneak off and get to the front of the stage where all the skinheads were dancing and they made a ring around him to protect him, he was only about 10 aswell
Its unbelievable to think they only ever had one Number 1 single when you consider the amount of banging tunes they released!
