I worked as a Toronto paramedic for 15 years from 1999-2014, mostly out of 12 Station on Albion near Kipling and Finch, 15 Station at Jane and Driftwood south of Finch, and 10 Station at Lawrence and Weston Road. I responded to a lot of gang-related shootings, but definitely dealt with the most when I was working out of 15 Station.

And of course the Driftwood crips have emerged as a major group in that region. I didn't really research what happened in the area prior to that, there was so much material there I was trying to just give a broad general overview of the major groups.

I'm not an expert in the subject, the way I understood it was that there were crip sets up top and down bottom, and then the down bottom sets began identifying as bloods partly due to conflicts with Rexdale which heightened tensions in the area. And of course the Driftwood crips have emerged as a major group in that region. I didn't really research what happened in the area prior to that, there was so much material there I was trying to just give a broad general overview of the major groups.
@strangenorth no uptop changed to crips down bottom was always bloods from the start
Originally all the hoods in Jane and Finch were bloods and the hoods in Rexdale were crips. It was basically Jane and Finch vs Rexdale. You can literally still watch videos of C4 (Connectionz) and KG (Driftwood) making videos together. It wasn't until Jane and Finch split that northside claimed crips and Uptop/Downbottom came into play.
lol how are you gonna mispronounce Piru that badly. Its Pie-Rue, not pee-ru
He's probably only read the name and hasn't heard it spoken out loud before. Fair mistake to make IMO.
My bad - never actually heard the word before, I could have sworn I was saying it correctly. Not the worst word I've butchered!
Who cares
@@AK4.7.47Cossackpeople that pronounce words correctly
@@Drue7 the name of a street where low IQ thugs fight over. Ya that's really important 🙄
You forgot the Rosedale Bloods.
Sorry for the delay - my channel has grown faster than I thought it would and I've missed a bunch of older comments. Yeah fair, there's definitely a bunch of groups I didn't get to in this one. Wanted it to be a general overview with some major groups but yeah there's so much I didn't even get to. Cheers
it's pronounced young street, its the longest street i n the world
Yeah my bad - not the first word I've screwed up!
@strangenorth no worries, keep up the good content
This is just the tip of the iceberg.
Robin bank got shot 3 times not 14 times
What is EMEGRATED? do you mean immagrated?
Rip debbie gang
Is the Parkdale gang a member of the Crips or Bloods?
Thanks for watching - I'm not sure actually, definitely not an expert I just wanted to give a general overview of the major groups in the city. Cheers

@@Mr1337sheep🦃🦃 Parkdale is, like, half-gentrified, half-hood; it's a very unique place I LUV very much, despite or perhaps even because of its flaws. It has also been VERY organized in its resistance to the gentrifying carpetbaggers. I honestly believe Parkdale will NEVER fully gentrify-- it's just too FUNKY...! Big ups to Parkdale!!!🦃🦃

Drift wood was bloods in the 90s
For the record it's pronounced "Pie-roo" as opposed to "Pee-roo". But other than that good video
Yeah my bad - definitely butchered a couple words in this one!
So who is innocent ?
Wouldn't clearing a couple blocks of strays an setting up a drug deal amongst these so called gangs let them settle it an clean up the rest afterwards no problems left
It may be pronounced a bit more pie-ru
"on Toronto's busy YONG street"???! Buddy it's pronounced YOUNG street 😂😂 interesting video tho
Yeah I definitely butchered a couple words in this one!
@@strangenorth It's all good fam, keep it up with these videos tho they're great
It's spelt Yonge

Great point - I was going to include them in part 2. Some similarities with groups like the old Aryan Guard out west and that whole saga with Grant Bristow is pretty interesting.

Ah yes the so called “bloods” and “crips” of Toronto 🙄
Toronto Maple Leafs fans
They all have one thing in common.........
You always look so uncomfortable and like you're looking at the camera like it's someone that just walked into your apartment randomly
Yeah fair, I'm still pretty uncomfortable on camera - I didn't even have social media before starting this channel and putting myself out there is new to me. Getting a little easier over time
I remember Canada before all the diversity. Such a safe and beautiful place.
"North American gangs" 🤣 These are just American gangs.
As a Californian, please someone just educate me why someone in Toronto will join someone else fight, from a completely different side of the map, that started decades ago (bang crip, bang bloods and go against eachother). Im just curious. I'ved lived in LA, and the gangs have History of conflicts, i was just in Toronto last week, was completely unaware there were crips and bloods, why join this unrelated fight?
The fights are unrelated, they just use the names for branding, recruitment and possible outside support, it's all opportunism, has always been.
Imo i wouldn’t consider toronto Eastern canada.

Why not temporarily declare martial law and bring out a few armoured units?
For what I would hope are the obvious Constitutional issues... do you think we all don't NEED The Charter of Rights & Freedoms?! 🦃🧐🦃🧐🦃🧐🦃🧐🦃🧐🦃🧐🦃
Ummm i hope your other parts include all the other gangs not just the black ones....
Are there any ?
I worked TWH security back in the 80's and had Asian gangs come in for wounds. But back in that day, Yonge Street was controlled by the Angels and 52 Division. You could get away with a bit of mayhem, but you knew what would happen if you went too far. Once the Angels and Red Devils moved east, the black gangs moved in and why the Eaton Center shooting took place. After many years away, live in the Beaches now, and see OG motorcycle gangs, but would rather them then gun happy kids.
It’s PIE RU
It's pronounced "Young" Street, not "Yaong Street."
Yeah pretty embarrassed about that one
