Canadian travel/tour guide content, crime stories, disappearances as well as videos dealing with a variety of topics that fall under the umbrella of strange/paranormal/spiritual/mystical/folklore etc.
Many of these topics incorporate interesting aspects of Canadian history, another topic I love.
I aim to effectively be fair and balanced when discussing these more mysterious topics - they are often fraught with embellishment and BS.
I am definitely very new to video production/UA-cam in general but I am striving to (slowly probably) improve over time.
I greatly appreciate everyone engaging with my channel, thank you to each and every one of you who gave one of my videos a shot - I know your time is valuable!

The Sketchy Areas of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
In this video I cover some of the areas of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan that have a reputation as being a bit more rough than other areas of the city.
I absolutely love Saskatoon, I visit often and I highly recommend it. Every city has areas that are a bit sketchy compared to other areas, and Saskatoon is no exception. I wanted to highlight some of those areas for people that are new to the city or plan on visiting in the future.
I hope you found this one interesting and informative.

#saskatchewan In this video I explore the old CFS Dana/Sagehill, which is an old abandoned military radar base in Saskatchewan. This was part of the Pinetree Line of NORAD radar stations that was built during the Cold War, and it was disbanded in 1987. The site was used as a writing school from 1989-1994, and the land is now owned by a bison rancher. I got very lucky in getting into contact wit...

Confed 😭
Your humility to admit your honest mistake is admirable. After all, "a rose by any other name would smell as sweet."
I like the way that this video blends the story of the ghost train with the history of the community and life there today. I remember hearing this story back in the 1970s. At the time, I didn't think anything of it. However, maybe there is something to it after all. So many people seem to have seen this light - whatever it may be.
Quite comprehensive overview for someone who didnt grow up in Saskatoon. As a local I grew up in a pretty safe area but not far from exhibition and Stan's Place, nicknamed by those nearby as Stab's, or just "the bar where you get stabbed" haha. Definitely was told to avoid there as a youngster and have encountered some trouble but overall still pretty safe and I've spent a lot of time around there. Not far from Exhibiton, there was a stretch of a few blocks in the Avalon neighborhood directly across the road from a Sarcan bottle depot. It was very common to hear of breaking and enterings and random assaults and stabbings at various apartments there. The Sarcan has since been moved out of the area and there are far less incidents now, though it is less convenient to recycle my cans now.
a group of indigenous thugs tried to rob me in saskatchatoon..i just kept walking ,they fucked off eventually
22nd street used to be referred to as "The Strip" because that was where the highest density of prostitutes and johns used to be. The laws around prostitution have changed and so you no longer see it as much as you used to. I would say anywhere south of 22nd isn't safe, but the Riversdale area has been gentrified in the last 15 years and so the crime areas have shifted since I was a kid. Riversdale used to be referred to as a ghetto
Aahh Stan’s Place. I remember driving across the city to buy bottles of Smirnoff there when I was 16. Good times.
I live in Saskatoon and will avoid the alphabet avenues at all cost. As previously mentioned, the Exhibition area has a sketchy feel to it as well.
It seems to me most places that had residential schools in the past, have the most crime.
Saskatoon is my most favorite city in Saskatchewan, Canada 🇨🇦 😊 .
My wife and I booked a prepaid room at a “chain” motel this past summer. There were none of the normal security locking devices on our room door, and it looked like someone had bashed in the door and broke them all. I asked the front desk to send someone immediately to repair them or give us a discount refund. He just jerked our chain by saying someone would come to inspect, but no one ever did. Then the next morning the manager was at the front desk and he basically said for us to go pound sand.
Please don't use music in the background it's kind of annoying
Nice guy i sold him 4 creepy Priceline Dolls from 1950s. I found that at Shellbrooke Muesem Auction.
Another very enjoyable video, much like you I have driven thru NB numerous times but really haven’t explored it. Some beautiful architecture and that trail system looks amazing. Thanks for posting and I look forward to the next one.
Hoot owl cafe
Such a strange story !
so in other words when visiting saskatoon go to Broadway? haha
ive brought my sons scout troop out here a few times, two, maybe three years ago there was actually one building still standing, however I noticed last winter that it has been removed.
buddy, we got the original Leo's here.
Thanks for watching - I heard Leopold's started in Regina, I actually haven't been to any of their locations. We actually have a couple locations in Edmonton too! Cheers
@strangenorth yep, it is a chain of dive pubs that has expanded over Western Canada. The original one started in Regina. I enjoy your videos, have a good one
@@mathewleung22 I appreciate it, and I'll have to check out on of the Edmonton locations one day!
Both cities are bad
6:30 The evil one is Teddy Ruxpin. He has the darkness in his eyes.
Yeah there's some creepy characters in that shelf eh? Cheers
there can't be ANY crime in any of these areas because you show NO people at all in tis vid. NONE. are they invisible???
Thanks for watching - yes, this area is rife with invisible street gangs and marauding criminals!
"The Ballad of Danny Wolfe" is a book chronicling the rise of the Indian Posse in the 90s. Great read.
Thanks for watching - I've read some about the Wolfe brothers but I haven't read that one completely. Cheers
There’s a common theme here!
Thanks!
Thanks for watching and I appreciate the support - cheers mate!
My family avoids that area so makes sense
Thanks for watching - what is the sketchiest area of the city in your experience? Cheers mate
Even though I used to have this house in Nutana in Saskatoon , I would like to go winter camp in the bushes in the Broadway area. Sounds kind of crazy just with a sleeping bag outside, but I like winter camping and I met a lot of homeless people at that time a couple years ago. Most of them are pretty good people, but this is a fact if you leave a expensive tool out even in a church parking lot it’s probably gonna go missing or let’s say $100 💵
Thanks for watching - interesting you used to camp out like that, I've actually considered doing an overnight camp in Edmonton's river valley, seems like it could be fun to try out. In your experience what is the sketchiest area of the city? Cheers
I used to have a house in the Nutana Broadway area. It’s actually for sale right now again.518 12st e Saskatoon $749 anyways I purchased this house in 2008 when I was in my mid 30s I used to have a business on Broadway from 2003 to 2012 the back door of my house looked upon the back door of Lydia‘s, which is now the back door of Prairie brewery. It was fun to go to the pubs on Broadway and it felt like a pretty safe space as there was a lot more people walking around at night pub crawling. it was a great street and it was my home. I sold the house during the pandemic as it’s a massive house for one guy, but I had rooms rented out to university students and over the years. I noticed Broadway on a sharp decline. I must say I also sat on the Broadway 360 committee as a backup that looked at land use as I was a stakeholder in the community. I talked to the owners of the yard of flag and last time I was in Saskatoon but a month ago their business is down 60% from the mid 2000s in their boom that’s not even adjusted for inflation. I went to the spot where my old business was a hair salon. The wrench is three times higher but the haircut prices are relatively unchanged since 2012. I walked down the street and on the 700 block I got asked for change three times in one block the grocery store closed down on Broadway due to theft and the building needing serious renovations. Long story short the community vibe on Broadway is somewhat dead. It’s more than dead. It’s not a community anymore without a grocery store . even the 711 closed due to theft so what you have is expensive houses which people have to make at least 150,000 a year to own in a area where people from the alphabet can come or the west side to wreak havoc pick bottles in the neighbourhood it’s going to hell!! Saskatoon is a city. I would never move back to they care more about gender, diversity, and inclusion rather than hiring an effective workforce to the city properly.
They call Confederation “Confedo Ghetto” for a reason. Riversdale is getting better. I used to live in Mount Royal and moved the hell out, as there was more “activity” coming north of 22nd. Great video and I have subscribed.
Thanks for watching - yeah north of 22nd can be dodgy too, I forgot to mention 33rd street can be sketchy at times. Cheers
As someone who lived in Saskatoon with a heroin addiction, I know these areas well. I’ve been jumped downtown 3 times and never in alphabet city. Poor people don’t rob other poor people. They go downtown to find people with money.
Thanks for watching and I appreciate your feedback - fair point, downtown definitely has risks. Sounds like you've got some interesting stories about the city! Cheers mate
Saskatoon is the most racist city in Canada.
Thanks for watching - do you really find that to be true?
Can you please create one of these for Regina?
Thanks for watching, yeah I plan on doing a similar video about Regina down the road. Cheers
@@strangenorth Awesome! Thanks
If there are rental properties, it attracts less than desirable people. Duplexes and cheaper accommodations have purposely been built to spread lower income people throughout the city. You can’t navigate this city without seeing homeless people destroying what used to be a city that was proud of its cleanliness. We are slowly turning into a dirty city like North Battleford and Prince Albert.
Cool. I enjoy playing flight sims from time to time. I'm guessing you flew from Villeneuve (CZVL) to Cooking Lake (CEZ3). I've been known to spectate from behind the fence at the latter while listening to the comms on my flight radio. The Cessna is my plane of choice! 👋 Very cool the pilot let you take the yoke.
Yeah this was a lot of fun, I'd always wanted to fly in a small plane like this. Actually we flew out of Cooking Lake, did a loop around the city and came back. Irritating that it was so smoky but a cool experience overall. Cheers
If you skipped all the disclaimers, rationalizations, and statements of compassion, this video would be half the length. You are really walking on eggshells! I'd like to think the country is in a better state as 2024 winds to a close, a place where it's become OK once more to speak freely, and that it will only improve in 2025 once we flush the Turd and his entire oppressive cabinet
Thanks for watching - although these earlier videos really make me cringe lol. Yeah actually I mostly agree with that, I think in this one I could have cut that down a bit. I stand by those sentiments and I'm sure most people do too, but looking back I think I emphasized the disclaimers a bit too much in this one. I'm definitely not a fan of PM Zoolander, looking forward to a government that serves the country better! Cheers
The whole province exudes sketchiness. No shortage of Yokels as well.
I've noticed that junkies seems to follow the LRT line and that crime radiates from the transit hubs. The further one gets from transit, the more normal Edmonton becomes. Thankfully, I live and work in neighbourhoods without convenient transit and have barely noticed a rise in crime. Then, last year I had to see a phelebotomist and the soonest appointment was in Boyle/McCauley clinic. That was an eye opener! Drove past a sprawling tent city to get there. The streets were full of zombie people wandering around, lining up for handouts, and bars on the windows. I hear the provincial Conservatives have done a fantastic of clearing those gang-run encampments and connecting the inhabitants with meaningful assistance to turn their lives around. Next we need to elect a sensible city council to back up these policies.
One thought I've had is that the city should just allocate a piece of land (or two, maybe on both sides of the river) where people can camp permanently. It seems the issue isn't going away, and it's a good point about street gang involvement in tent cities. Complicated issue but seems like it would be more pragmatic to have a place where people can put up tents, seems like enforcement shuts down an encampment only for it to pop up somewhere else. Cheers
This video make NB look so nice. It is not. I've lived here my whole life it sucks. In the past 6 months a house a business and a motel have burned down, A woman was shot and killed outside the barrel, a drunk guy tried fighting me in a parking lot I watched a guy get jumped two men in ski masks and lastly just 2 days ago there was gunshots across the street from my work plus a bunch of other stuff in the past 6 months but Im not writing a whole book here
Thanks for watching - and you're not wrong, that area has a lot of problems. I just think that side of the Battlefords gets emphasized a lot and I wanted to just show some stuff that wasn't related to crime. Every city has cool aspects and I wanted to show some of that. Cheers
The same areas were sketchy when I left in 1985. I haven't been back to there for a while. Looks like some things have improved.
Thanks for watching - my hometown of Edmonton also has areas that have been dodgy for awhile. It seems like Riversdale especially has really evolved over time, still sketchy at times but it has a lot going on. Cheers
What is EMEGRATED? do you mean immagrated?
the Krazies yeah awesome for mentioning them
winnipeg is the biggest urban reserve in canada lol
the building with the boarded up windows is the old catholic girls school cocj (convent of the child jesus) , and the boys school was the don ross centre
Thanks for watching - do you know if anyone has explored that building recently? Looks like it would be neat to check out. Cheers
The Boys School was called St Thomas College, My Dad was a Student there as was I in 1974 - 76.
The alphabet jungle is definitely sketchy
Thanks for watching - we definitely have some dodgy areas in Edmonton too! Cheers
I drive past this store almost everyday. I love their sidewalk sign that says "worst store ever"
Thanks for watching - I love that sign too, great shop!
It's right next to where all the scrubs go get their methadone. Lock your car doors.
Most of the crime is in the dozens of Cree Reserves outside the town which gets prosecuted in the courts in North Battleford and Battleford. Some of this Cree on Cree mostly gang violence bleeds into the city but it is mostly Cree on Cree violence from the Reserves
I've lived in Saskatoon for 20 years and I can agree that this is accurate. I would say around St. Paul's hospital on 20th is the most dangerous part of the city. My wife worked at the hospital for 8 years and had her car vandalized multiple times. Active drug use on the street. She quit after being stabbed with the hep c patient's needle in a struggle.
Thanks for watching and I appreciate your feedback - personally I had a few dodgy situations around the hospital last year when I was shooting video of St Paul's for my haunted Saskatoon video. We definitely have a few similar neighborhoods in my hometown of Edmonton. Cheers
32 for me. The poorest areas are within walking distance of downtown, where Midtown Plaza and Social Services are. I agree about St. Pauls area being one of the worst.
Causing Residential Economic Exodus
I live in Saskatoon and I can honestly say it is not suitable for human habitation ! it is significantly colder than Yellowknife , Edmonton , Winnipeg and even Whitehorse ! just look it up it was 8 degrees colder than Yellowknife yesterday !
It's been brisk in Edmonton too, I heard you guys just got a ton of snow!
No tarantulas or other deadly creatures. No flashfloods. No hurricanes. No tsunamis. Just unbearable arctic cold.
