Kanya Amma is so great and yet so innocent
Our dear Kanya Amma is an innocent, very humble and a great Vidushi & Legend of our rich Carnatic Music. She is our own family member and is a lot younger to us (to me, Krishna, by more than a decade).
And yet, for the Goddess Saraswathi Maathaa in her, we offer our 'satha kOti namaskArams' to our dear Kanya Amma.

Everyone has to learn from her!!! Very simple down to earth not materialistic and doesn’t own thousand sarees or own 100 kg gold and diamonds! She is not decked from top to toe like some others!!! She is simple and Godly!
Kanyakumari Amma is a born musical genius but its her humility that sets her apart from others. Her gratitude and respect towards her Gurus and her co-artistes and her total surrender to Bhagavan brought tears to my eyes. Thank you Sudha Maám for yet another legendary episode!!

Thank you so much for allowing so distantly placed rasikas like me (living in Montreux, Switzerland) to be able to enjoy such spiritually inspiring reminiscences of the past, a little of which I was able to partake in myself. It was Dec. 1987, and I spent 3 days in Chennai in transit from Malaysia back to Switzerland, and I attended a concert called Vadhya Lahari with Mme. A. Kanyakumari along with Messrs. Mambalam Siva, A. K. Palanivel and it was such joy that she referred to this very concert in the discussion with Mme. Sudha Raghunathan. I was very fortunate, as i brought along a little tape recorder, which I placed at my feet, and recorded the entire concert at Rani Seethai Hall, and even today, when I am lost, spiritless, I delight in playing that recording, and it uplifts me. As I had no knowledge of carnatic music other than just a great liking for it, I was very fortunate that it was the first live concert I ever attended, and that too in Mylapore, way, way back in late Dec. 1987. Thank you so much for helping me 'bring' happy memories back at my 71 years of age......it was also likely the only concert that I managed to buy tickets for the 3rd row seat, so the music recording of my own is still so, so clear. It is not available as an official recording anywhere, so I am truly grateful. Best wishes to everyone who helped have this 'session' come alive.
I wish to make some important corrections of fact of the 1987 concert: it was held on 21.21.1987, and the important other artiste there was a Ms. N. Vijayalakshmi on the Veena. (I looked it up on the cassette, still in my possession).

I remember one incident during Smt.MLA amma's and Smt. Kanyakumari's visit to Bay Area in 1976. It was a house concert. After the concert, the host served Red wine. Some of her team mates decided to drink. Arm. .K.Kumari came running to Smt. MLV Amma and told her " Idu Drakshapatam juice Illae, idu Kallu"
To this day, my husband, and I still remember fondlly that incident .
