One of their best songs! I don't know why anyone would consider this album weak, for me, it is incredible.
Sure is...they have no weak albums!
I guess you had to be there. The album was not well received upon release. It was a bleak time in NYC (where I grew up) in the mid-70s, and the album itself is dark, brooding and a definite change in tone for Zeppelin. Add to that the fact that the band was going through a rough patch at the time, and you have a recipe for a less than happy album. Perspective is everything, and I do notice a ton of revisionist history where Presence is concerned.
One of my favorite Zep albums. I like For Your Life. Although these songs don't sound like pure blues, they really channel the spirit of the blues more than any other white artists.
I agree with you, Someone said Presence is Zeps worst album. They're out their mind. Zeppelin doesn't have a bad song, never mind a bad album! This album cooks!
@@edwardcapobianco2975 Yikes! You sound like a scientologist. LOL
Can't understand why anyone would dislike this album. It's a great album.
So true, however it’s a testament to how great the previous 6 albums were as you can only compare it to them, which less face it, are considered better to the majority of people.
Not sure anyone dislikes it, but Presence is problematic because it's frontloaded with four good/great songs, then the last three sort of peter out and are among their worst.
I also think that people are not aware of this album because it received much less airplay than all the the prior ones. I also feel that folks who say the album is terrible have not actually listened to it carefully or at all!
@rbmtn4879 They are among the worst songs to you, but plenty of people like them. Music is a matter of personal taste and its subjective.
Never had any problems with this album. Bought it when it came out and listened to it dozens of times.
That screaming harmonica solo intro is everything 🔥. This track is a cover of an old Blind Willie Johnson song first recorded in 1928
Not really a “cover”. I prefer to say more of an interpretation..the arrangement is light years beyond Blind Willie’s.
@@BBaldwin Led Zeppelin were masters at remastering old blues songs.
I couldn't agree more. Robert blows the roof off the dump with that harmonica! He is criminally underrated as a harp player.
@@JohnWhite-xc3md More like not rated at all. Custard Pie, When the Levee Breaks, and NFBM, he's amazing
The tactical pauses in Bonz's drops? OMFG!!! His rythym is so complex but perfect
GOAT DRUMMER EVER WITH NO EQUAL!
The best or at least among the very best drummers in the modern era imho...
In this album i do consider this as one of the prime examples of why John Bonham is the greatest Rock n' Roll drummer ever!
Bonzo is the greatest of all time and it's not close.
Zeppelin doesn’t have 1 mediocre album ! All top tier 🔥❤️🎸
Killer cut from that album. It just keeps coming like a pitbull after an intruder. You can't get away from the groove, the slide guitar and
drums bite down hard, then the harmonica - No Mercy. Runnnnnnnn!
You can run...
Well said lol
Aren't you guys glad you continued your journey? There are still some more gems to come!🎶🥁🎸👍
You guys are killing these reactions!!
Agreed. 💯. But also, more ZAPPA please
That's if they are really serious.
Lyrics fron this taken fron black blues artist Blind Willie Johnson( (1927) They are notorious for lifting lyrics. They were hugely influenced by black blues but give credit where due. Were royalties paid?
Led Zeppelin is the most diversified band in history. They where 4 virtuosos at their craft.Zeppelin is THE GREATEST BAND EVER!!!🥁☮☘
This album is their most underrated and is chock full of badassery. Plant really rocks that harmonica as hard as anyone. So glad you guys kept going…..and please include the live covert album Song Remains the Same in your journey! It has so many iconic live versions: You already did TSRTS/ Rain Song and just the solo from Stairway but you must do the full song, along with a crazy 26 minute Dazed and Confused, stellar version of No Quarter, a phenomenal and very bluesy Since I’ve Been Loving You, a Whole Lotta Live medley that is just an amazing jam session. They really show their almost telepathic improvisational skills on the whole record/ concert. Please include that as part of their canon. You guys rock, love all your reactions. You guys know your music. Thanks for the vids
Im not sure thats a harmonica, I think it might be a guitar pedal similar to the one used on When The Levee Breaks and a few other of their songs.
@@shmortisborg it’s a harmonica, Levee is too
"badassery" 🤘Rock On☺️
I agree
“I’m deep down in the gutter with JPJ & Bonz”
Yep, been there myself, many a times.
Rock on brothers.
The greatest rock n roll song ever recorded. There…I said it.
"Presence" is a hard rocking, bluesy, funky, beast of an album. I love it! As a Zeppelin fan for many, many years, I also urge you, *please* don't listen to the people who will tell you not to react to the next album, "In Through The Out Door." It's a different kind of Zep album in many ways, but it's brilliant. It doesn't rock as hard as their other albums, but it's still great, and *very* worthy of a reaction. "Carouselambra" is amazing!
Yesterday I determined, while in my truck jamming to Presence loudly, that this is the greatest rock and roll song of all time.
My roommate back in 1985 asked me a question while this song was playing. The timing was perfect when I responded, "N-n-n-n-n-n-n-noooo!"
I don't always listen to Nobody's Fault but Mine, but when I do, so do my neighbors!
Led Zeppelin is the only group that I like every single song.
One of the most ferocious, anxiety-ridden, angry Zep tracks in the catalog. Robert laying out the truth bombs - the mask is off.
Down and dirty. It hums along, then Plant hits you with the harmonica.
It is the "little" pauses that make this song more than what any other band would do
Presence was intended to be a full-blown guitar exploration. It succeeded magnificently.
JPJ and Bonham with that killer groove, and Plant with the best harmonica solo ever.
This is the song I’ve been waiting on from this album they are all great but this is the banger for me …man y’all are coming out hard today great work guys just keep um coming
Quite the line up today.
For real! 🤘
Tightest, hardest record by Zep. Yes. Now you see why I've got Presence as my 2nd favorite Zep album. It shows that Zep just kept getting better and better in their writing, playing, producing. We can only imagine what they would have done if Bonzo hadn't died. Great stuff.
We don't need to imagine.
When it came out I listened to Achilles Last Stand over and over and over.
Lyrics fron this taken fron black blues artist Blind Willie Johnson( 1927) They are notorious for lifting lyrics. They were hugely influenced by black blues but give credit where due. Were royalties paid?
They gave credit where due when forced to.@@jgsrhythm100
This is amazing live too! Bonzo perfect timing...Robert on that harmonica...JPJ bassline...Jimmy fabulous guitar work...how can you get any better!
I so liked it right away and it just got better over time, I can't wait for Tea For One, I saw Page/Plant do it in concert in 1998, they slayed it that night.
This album has always been under rated. But my friends and I have always loved it. It just didn't disappoint
Just, what can you say? Zeppelin were monsters.
The drum pattern on this is so incredibly clever
The bass on this song is HUGE!! 🤘
the 'harmonica' drop is the best in ALL of rock n roll......paired with john beating the hell out of his kit....best ''drop'' ever.
ALL Led´s are fire!!!
Well we all know Robert Plant can sing and plays a real mean harmonica as well😊
Plant kicking everyone's ass from a wheelchair with a harmonica. Imagine what he would do standing up.
I grew up outside of DC near Andrews AFB. When this first came on the air in Spring of 76, I pulled over because new Zeppelin on the radio required my full attention. When Jimmy Page came in with that sonic guitar intro, I thought the F-18's were taking off from Andrews. And then the onslaught continued as you just heard. It was that powerful.
Dang I didn't know they recorded this album sometimes after Plant had a car accident. That's remarkable.....
@@markiec8914 It was tough to get information in those days before internet. But apparently he and his wife, daughter and Page's daughter went off a steep turn on the Greek island of Rhodes while on vacation. Maureen Plant was almost killed and had to be airlifted back to London for transfusions. Plant suffered a dislocated ankle, which was reinjured during the recording of Presence when he tore his Achilles tendon after falling over speaker wires in the studio while on crutches. Thus the song Achilles Last Stand, which tells the story of being "in sandy lands on holiday" and so on. Unfortunately the rest of the album was recorded while he was wheelchair bound with this leg up. Remarkable vocal performance under duress.
The Kings of syncopation. Straight up one of their best tracks and underrated. Love your reactions as always guys 🎶🤌🏼
Even at their most weakness moment, at their lowest they could still give us this? Led Zep Rules!!!!🤟
That's why I say listen to all Zepplin
Although it's a modern rock track, with even progressive sounding elements, the main guitar riff channels some deep Mississippi Delta blues.
Nobody’s fault but Zeppelin’s for this gem. It sounds like dive bombers in the studio the way Bonzo is hitting those skins. I love that start and stop rhythm. All of them are deep in their element. They have some great live versions of this too that you should check out. 🔥 🔥 🔥
Love the stops in this song too!
FIRE!!’ Go Robert on the harmonica!!❤❤
Their best album and one of Page’s best solos. Bonzo masterpiece after masterpiece on this album. What a band!
That's why they're known as The Mighty Led Zeppelin!
Hi guys, another gem for Zep...
Their heaviest album in my opinion. Song jams!
This album was created during a difficult time for the band. There were more difficult times to come, as many Zep fanatics know. Newer generations were getting tired of big bands at the time, giving birth to the punk scene. Plant sang most of the album while in a wheelchair (Achilles Last Stand aka "The Wheelchair Song"). Drink and "other stuff" began taking it's toll on at least 2 members...😢 They had Peter Grant, but Jimmy was the boss and having his hand in everything was quite the exhausting task.
HOWEVER...this album gets no where near the attention the previous recordings do/did. A shame because it is them at an amazing level, despite the distractions. ❤
You guys do a great job on your reaction videos. But I so eagerly await your Led Zeppelin reactions. Thank you for being true music lovers. Giving everything a fair shake!
👍🫵✌️🤙
Wow, never knew Plant sang most of this album while in a wheelchair - that's so impressive!
Imo I think the suits started having way to much influence on the record business.
Kathy b well good thing plants voice wasn't in a wheelchair 😊
The last three songs are just as killer!
This is a reworking of the song by Blind Willie Johnson. I absolutely adore this song. I love the drop at the end of the guitar parts that start the song, where it seems to bottom out and expand before pulling back up. This is another great Zep-style blues; it's got a punch and snap and the guitar solo sounds bright and sharp. People forget about this album more often than not, so I'm glad you decided to continue without getting sidetracked by doing live stuff or any other Zep peripheral material.
Gents listening to this live ..especially on 1977 tour in NYC or La..even Seattle is real good ..the song is so freaking powerful.
Once again a fine job by the both of you.
Pull up at the red light and let blast 😂😮
You guys are brave for checking this one out! Unusual rhythms and timing, very syncopated.
Over the years, this has become one of my top 10 solos by Jimmy Page. It’s not the flashiest, but it’s so beautifully paced and constructed, swinging and tight, subtly psychedelic with that intro (played by bending the strings BEHIND the nut!), adding some trademark “sloppy” runs, then sliding right back into an amazingly tasty bending lick that both elevates the song into the finale, and leaves space for Bonzo’s incredible drumming. Brilliant.
I listened to this whole album yesterday. Still very fresh.
... oh baby baby...
I can't wait for the rest.
Thanks for the video!
First album I bought was 2 then one. Then got them all in succession. Get this. I lost them all in a damn divorce. There are people who didn't want the band to progress with the music. That's why after Physical Graffiti some fans are not too keen on the albums after it.
I love every one!!
Guys please tell me, do you think this sounds as if it could have been made yesterday, it’s still so fresh ?
fresh as a daisy...
Perfect!
Nocap, I have been listening to Led Zeppelin for the past 6 hours straight! (I have all of their albums, first edition, because I'm old 😁)
I can absolutely take another dose!
Robert Plant really shines in this! Listen for the call and response!
(Edited because my phone hates me and I hate it right back.)
Best song on the album, in my option.
What a BOP! The blues cooked in fish grease.
Led Zeppelin knows where you are at emotionally. How many tears were shed writing and ultimately performing arguably some of the greatest rock-n-roll songs of all time!! There's nothing biased about saying they just made music better back in the day. Sorry. No autotune etc....What you see is what you Hear! Ain't no behind the curtain tech. going on in the late 60's early 70's etc!
When you went to see Led back in the day, you knew you were going to see a show!!
Hands down their most underrated album...way ahead of its time. 😛👍
It's a great album!!! Discovering their music must be so mind blowing. It was for me. Still listening to these master pieces today. ✌️👍🎼🎶🎸
I like your reaction. The More I hear Led Zeppelin the more I miss them.!
Well I guess I ain't the only one who thinks this is Zep's FUNKIEST tune....great stuff gentlemen!
This is my favorite song on this album, glad you guys enjoyed it too.
I dig For Your Life as well
Possibly their most underrated song commercially ever along with Ten Years Gone.
I love their use of silence to let the groove breath. It hits you like a hammer when the groove comes in again. Really smart, really raw, and definitely funky.
Agree wholeheartedly!
One of my favorites...it has everything musically you could ask for!!🎵🎸 Roberts harmonica playing is the best!!🎸🎶🎤 Cant wait to see what y'all think of Tea For One, I love it so much!!🎶
This song was first recorded by Blind Willie Johnson in 1927. The harmonica on this Zeppelin version is played by Robert Plant, Keith Harwood was the recording engineer and mix engineer. Another outstanding track, people who say Presence wasn't a good record are completely lost in the sauce.
I don’t know how the drums did not spontaneously combust!
It's a good video to see some brothers appreciating Zeppelin. When I was in the service, I got introduced to hip hop like NWA, Tupac, and West Side Connection, and I got my buddies turned on to bands like Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Lynyrd Skynyrd but Zeppelin is still the greatest rock band of all time hands down. Their music is as raw as it gets
The blues plugged in and turned up to 11!! A Rock n Roll masterpiece!
Pure joy watching you guys hear this masterpiece for the first time. Been on my playlist for 30 years!!
I've been waiting for you guys to get to this one!!! A total gem of a tune!!! Keep up the great work!!😎😎😎
Quick story; I bought the Presence CD right when it came out and took it over to a friend's house who had the most high-end stereo system I've ever seen…massive speakers and all the associated gear. We put it on and during Nobody's Fault But Mine we had it cranked when suddenly during Jimmy's solo one of the speakers cut out. We shut everything off to check it out, and the fuse in the back of the speaker had blown. And not just the fuse's little metal filament was broken, but the glass case that the filament was in had shattered. Such is the power of Led Zeppelin.
By far one of their best songs imo. Often overlooked (by "mainstream") but definitely just another banger song! Also a bad album (by critics) when, imo, is just another incredible piece of art!
Three 70’s jammers today. Nobody’s Fault. One of the greatest. Skynard’s That Smell. Another jammer and The Who’s Who Are You. Three monster tracks. All in a row. Thank you🙏🙏🙏😥
Love this gem. Can't help but immediately think of Dread Zeppelin's cover of this. If you ever do a reaction to Dread Zeppelin, and you really should, make it this cover.
Absolutely Mon!
@@pipepicasso8112 How does one describe them? Led Zeppelin, Elvis Presley, and Bob Marley had a band of babies? IDK.😆
Another great Led Zeppelin cover of a Blind Willie Johnson song
I've been a Led fan for 30 something years. played their music in my band, and it still hits hard all these years later. Love it hope you do In Through The Out Door too, as a big JPJ fan who played his parts that's definitely his album
Btw. I saw zeppelin in Dallas 1974. $6. Floor seats. Big promotion on the light show. Light bulbs going off in sequence. Best concert ever (after srv shows)
Just Pure Greatness....what else can you say?
Not a Damn thing !!!
LED ZEPPELIN
❤❤❤❤❤
even though everything in this song is top notch.. the silent counts is what i get most impressed about, every time i listen. it’s like almost falling off a cliff and then you grab on at the last second. brilliance
Arguably their greatest song and there are many.
Presence was a moment in time, great songs but disjointed, Zeppelin were going there difficult times, they almost got through, but tragedy came all to quickly 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢, Zeppelin forever in my heart
Bring me back to my high school days YIKES ! Remember as a young knucklehead drummer trying to get Bonzo’s groove down. It was an exercise in frustration. Hahaha. Love your reactions & responses
My favorite song by them. It just drips with heaviness and deep grooves. If asked which song defines the Zeppelin sound, I would point to this.
I love Zep's version. Has anyone mentioned this was a Blind Willie Johnson song.
It's a Zep jam session! Thanks for your reaction.
It’s worth checking out this song live at the show o2 arena 2007, cebration das. Robert Plant play a espectacular harmônica solo.
I can’t wait until you get to Tea For One. Anxious to see how y’all feel about it! My personal opinion is that it is a masterpiece
I find it interesting that so many people find it necessary to try to defend their position as to why they like or dislike this album or attack others for the same thing. Everyone has their own opinion. Why the need to be convinced that your opinion is the only one that’s relevant or correct? Great track and reaction La & Che. ✌️
Watching you guys get into and hear every aspect of some of my favorite music really makes my day. Just wanted you to know that.
Prescence is a MASTERPIECE.
Great song to lead off side 2. Another song to remind you that this is the best rhythm section in rock.
Don’t sleep on Presence.
Bonz was singing with his drums on this one!
Nobody's Fault But Mine! Yes! This album reaction is pulling me in! ❤❤❤
Makes me happy when people discover this band. Best ever!
One of my favorite Zeppelin songs. Bonham kills it. And that harmonica solo...what?!? Awesome!
You boys make this old man so happy...."YOU GET IT!"
There are a bunch of different Led Zep fans. Some like I-III, some like IV, Houses of the Holy, Or Physical Graffitti. For some reason this album gets "lost"? This is probably my fav Led Zep tune of all and this album just doesn't get the respect it truly deserves.
Song about addiction…
Great track
