    A great device and concept! Unlike Muse, it trains to be relaxed while acting, creates a state of flow. I wish there were more focus games, IMO, they reflect the core purpose of this device. Also, it would be amazing to have an SDK and build our own tools using the device's output. For example, I would be interested in real-time feedback/notifications when I become calm, so that I can get back to or focus more on the current task - a somewhat different approach from what FocusCalm is doing now.

    Thanks Cody. I appreciate you telling us the costs and the need for buying the software.
    I have had a Muse S for two months and I am quite happy with it. But I'll keep an eye on FocusCalm for maybe a future purchase.

    I am interested in that device but I am not having a mind of a professional racer where I need to squeeze out that extra 2%. My issues are far lower level.
    I have big problems for getting into the zone in the first place and also keeping any focus or attention for a longer time. I have looked into Mendi, Neorythm and now this one. What would you suggest?

    • @CodyRallMD
      @CodyRallMD  2 роки тому +1

      I would definitely keep an eye on Mendi. They are coming out with a great software update this summer that should very much help you get in the zone for long periods of attention. I would go with the Mendi.

    looks cool, I'd like to see an (honest) comparison with equivalent products.
    The app subscription seems a bit sketchy, probably a way to make it look cheaper than it eventually turns out... thanks for mentioning this.

    Hey cody, I'm debating on whether or not to go with the Focus Calm, Muse 2, or Mendi.... The primary goal I have is to work on my PTSD... I would like a device that would allow me to change my brainwaves and condition my nervous system to be calm when encountering situations I find triggering.

    • @CodyRallMD
      @CodyRallMD  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Hunter, it sounds like you should try grounding techniques with the Muse Headband :)

    Firstly thank you for the FocusCalm code. It works and I got $25 off. I have used the Muse Gen 2 for about a year and was consistent in using it for a year. I actually learned how to get the bird tweets to increase. But I just could not get my mind to be consistently calm. It got so bad I could not even start the meditation. The videos on FocusCalm and Mendio were hugely beneficial. I was convinced that there is scientific support for their effectiveness. I chose the FocusCalm since there were more exercises in the application, though of course that comes as price - currently about $69 per year (if you do not get the lifetime subscription). The Mendio fNIRS was a fascinating technology, but I think I would get bored with the one exercise day after day. So hoping at 60 years of age there is a noticeable increase in calm and executive level cognition. We will see, I am convinced that it can work. So thanks again Dr. Cody.

    Just bought one. I’ve been emailing support for a week now about if they have an API available, their kickstarter also looks a bit sketchy, people still don’t have devices even though they are for sale, retail. Their app also isn’t very polished.
    I may return and get a Crown or Mendi.

    I’m a physician !! What are the differences between this device vs neorythm and muse ? What do you recommend for a 16 year old who just needs some help with relaxing and focusing better while studying

    • @CodyRallMD
      @CodyRallMD  2 роки тому

      I've made some other videos that compare these. Focus Calm would be a good one to use for improving focus for studying. I tend to use Muse and NeoRhythm more for meditation training. Hope that helps!

I’d like to email you re possible collaboration with my patients And your services. I’m an interventional Pain and Spine specialist and we were doing fMRI on patients with pain and doing simultaneous live biofeedback and meditation modalities long before these devices came out. In short, NeoRhythm does active stimulation (and doesn't measure anything) while Muse and this are passive devices (measuring things), though the games in the FocusCalm are of course affected by those measurements.

    • @CodyRallMD
