Kinda crazy they didn’t put Daillak in the champs race? He’s a senior that’s been running these crazy times for a while. Sub-15 wasn’t assured but always possible
I've seen a number of people claim this. As a Central Section track and xc historian and I can tell you that his PR at Woodward before this race was only 15:27, which is good, not crazy, and he set it a few weeks before Clovis Invite. Before that, he had only broken 15:30 at Woodward once (15:29.76 at the Central Section championships as a junior). If Paso Robles had raced at Woodbridge and he ran a fast time there, he may have been given the chance. He just had a perfect race that landed him an insane time and the #5 All-Time spot in Central Section history. No one, aside from maybe he and his coach, could have predicted he'd drop a time like that.
@@DepthsOfOcanthus fair enough, and I see the reasoning a lot more now, but as someone familiar with Daillak, he is definitely the most dominant central section male runner rn and I wish he’d been included for geographical diversity alone. He was aiming pretty casually for 15:05-15:10 going into the race and then like you said did even better because the guy literally doesn’t get tired
@@imadeanaccountjusttodothis7785 I was curious if you had a connection to him. I wonder if his coach reached out to the race director to ask if he could be included. If his goals were that lofty, then I don't see why they would have denied him. I will say, I think not being in the championship race helped him a ton. Being able to dictate the pace and racing when it was a little cooler can make a huge difference. Overall, he proved he is an all-time Central Section great for XC and I hope he is able to move up the 3200m All-Time list, as well (his 8:59.19 is currently 17th overall). I'm excited to see how he closes the season out!
@@DepthsOfOcanthus I’ve never spoken to him or anything but I know more about him than anyone else who really competed at Clovis (besides my own team), he’s just sort of a well known elite guy in my general area

“Pretty casually” as in he was thinking he could make the mark using his regular race effort
