    Very nice. I followed these instructions and I'm happy. I put distilled water into an old water bottle and poured it in.

    Thanks for the video, I personally use a inexpensive garden pump sprayer and I cut just the spray tip off the end so the water flows out easily, this allows me to fill each cell and be able to see when it is at the correct level as the spray wand is only 5/16” and I can easily see around it to determine the correct fill level.

    First thing you do! Make sure battery is fully charged before adding any water! If not when you do charge they can overflow onto the floor the next time you charge them

      @@JT-jg8le Water on the floor is not such a great problem, that can be mopped up carefully because it is acidic. The point is if you fill before charging you will dilute the sulfuric acid, waste it, and weaken the battery.

    Covering the plates with 1/8 inch of water is sufficient. Over filling will cause lots of problems tons of corrosion on the golf cart and will destroy concrete. Focus on covering the plates not getting close to the tabs.

    • @crappiexpress5633
      @crappiexpress5633 3 роки тому +6

      Yes he filled them too high. Do not go to the tabs I promise you that’s to much. 1/8 to 1/4 over the plates is perfect.

    • @crappiexpress5633
      @crappiexpress5633 3 роки тому +8

      No it’s not that it dilutes the acid the battery will turn the water back into acid. It’s when the batteries charge they boil the water and it will comes out the caps. The top of the batteries get wet / collect dirt and the batteries will pull constant power/voltage across the top never letting the batteries stop working. This will ware them down faster. You want the top of those batteries clean and dry. That will stop corrosion in the cables and terminals and extend the battery life.

    How much drop in voltage in a battery bank is just from having so many batteries together in a big long string? Wouldn't there be some voltage drop from this in charge decay? And how much is reasonable compared to something being a problem? Thanks.

    The batteries will shock you if you touch them in a series circuit ie 48 volts. Each battery only being 6-12v is not going to hurt.
    The movies where they connect jumper cables to your body it’s not going to do anything, 12 v will not hurt. AC or DC.
    30 volts is where you start feeling stuff and 60 is going to hurt. It also depends on skin moisture and resistance and other factors.

    seems to me best way get most life is to put 32 cups epton salt in gallon water on stove low heat to turns clear that is how you make battery acid it just not charged yet to make the chemical what a battery guy said anyway.a battery is 65% water an 35% sulfate so if you put plain destilled water it will get the ratio out of whack

      Take a battery out of the cart, turn it up side down to empty it into a bowl, pour the bowl of battery acid into a measuring cup and now you know the answer to your question.

    • @Raysea88
      @Raysea88 3 роки тому

      D Carlton Anyone that ask that question may really try this and emptying battery acid into a bowel would be dangerous. To answer the question correctly: it depends on how much water has been depleted by charging the batteries and you use the amount of water to cover the plates in the battery.

    • @vtxdaryl
      @vtxdaryl 3 роки тому +1

      Charles Bianchi
      The question was “How much water does each battery take?” Your example doesn’t tell how much water/battery acid each battery holds. The only way to tell, is to fill the battery above the plates, turn the battery upside down, wearing gloves and protective glasses and a respirator of course, and measure the water that comes out of the battery. The simple and safe way would be to call and ask the manufacturer how much water is in the battery. It was really a weird question because who cares how much water the battery holds. Just keep the batteries filled above the plates.
