    Sounds like a great recipe! I have Freeze Drier and I would not add the olive oil as oils don''t freeze dry well. I would add the oil when you are reconstituting. Thank you!

      That is a great tip! Question for you... do you recommend getting a freeze dryer? They are rather expensive but we're seriously considering adding one to our preserving arsenal.

      @@SpiraeaHerbs I'm not disappointed I bought it. I've had mine since May 9th and have done about 27 loads. My primary reason is the long shelf life, I had venison that going on 4 years old as were just weren't eating fast enough. I don't like wasting food. Cooked rice and taco meat is now instant. So meal prep after the fact, is quick. Wild Rice in there right now! I've done some herbs, dandelion for teas. found out delicate things like violets need to be covered with something so the vacuum release doesn't blow them off the trays. I do rinse meat to remove as much fat as possible. I think I will have it pay for itself in a few months. Especially compared to buying commercially made freeze dried foods. A lot of people do candy, but that's not me. I was thinking of soaking Goji berries and then FD them as they are so hard to eat just dried. Hope you can add one to your arsenal of food storage options, I don't think you will be sorry.

    Do you also use the little seed/flower that’s on the scape?

    • @SpiraeaHerbs
      @SpiraeaHerbs  2 роки тому

      No I do not use that. I will use the scape portion below it and sometimes the portion above it (if it is in good shape). But I compost the flowering portion.

    I don't think that the olive oil and oil in the nuts will freeze dry.

      Yes that is what my friends with freeze dryers say! I'll stick to freezing it the regular way.
