      Unfortunately due to regulations put forth by both Health Canada and Meta (who owns UA-cam) I am not able to provide any specific medical advice or dosing outside of my herbal clinic or education platform setting. My apologies. I hope with a bit of research you can find the answer you are looking for.

    I was wondered about using alcohol too because I don’t drink but upon further research, people typically consume more naturally occurring alcohol in fermented foods and ripe bananas then in a tincture that you will consume.

    • @SpiraeaHerbs
      @SpiraeaHerbs День тому

      This is a beautiful point and it will be something that I remember when I have students/clients who have similar questions about the alcohol consumption. Its such a small amount! You are correct. But I also think there is something to be said about intention behind the alcohol consumption. With tinctures, the intention is to help support and heal your body which I feel goes a long way towards your body accepting it. If that makes sense.

    Love your channel and I foraged self heal last year but haven't made a tincture with it yet. Will it still be good? I was using it as a tea but started to research it again and found your amazing channel.

      @SpiraeaHerbs День тому

      If I interpret your question correctly, you want to use dried heal-all that you harvested last year to make tincture? Personally I wouldn't Dried herbs have a shelf life of one years tops and since you are approaching that mark, it would not be the most potent medicine. If you can forage for new heal-all and make tincture from the fresh herb that will be your most potent end product. Hope that helps!

      Outside of a clinical setting I am not able to give and specifics for any conditions or treatment protocol as per Meta and Health Canada regulations. I am sorry! Wish I could be of more help. What I can say is that herbalism is slow medicine and with less potent forms like tea, you will likely need to drink it for at least a few months before you will see any benefits. This will also depend on how long you have had the chronic condition for.

    • @SpiraeaHerbs

      I personally do not wash my herbs. The time it takes for them to dry means they are wilted and lose potency during that time. I will allow them to sit for 5-10 minutes on a cutting board to allow any bugs to crawl out though. I am also very careful about where I harvest from ensuring no sprays have been used.

    Hi. There are red, purple and black varieties. Does it make a difference in regards to nutrition which colour the berries are?

    • @SpiraeaHerbs
      @SpiraeaHerbs 17 днів тому

      I will be fully transparent and say that I don't know. I would have to research it, but in terms of logical thinking, berries that are red, black and purple all contain anthocyanins. polyphenols and all those beautiful things we are after. If I had to guess, I would say they would be similar.

      Nope! Completely different plant. Look up photos of Prunella vulgaris (the botanical name) and you'll see the differences in the plant.

    Just curious, do you strain the petals out of the honey before using/eating it or do you leave them in?

    I did some further studies on this plant last season only to find out it is also incredibly good to make fertilizer(for the garden with)as well as a topical fungal spray!! ALSO, fungal issues with feet for us!! So using it as a soak when having issues with things like athletes foot! Such an awesome plant!

      Along with comfrey you would have an amazing fertilizer combination!! I wasn't aware it had such strong anti-fungal properties. I'd never thought to use it that way. Thank you for sharing.
