Agreed! This the is part of the self sufficiency journey I hope to share with the world. It's so important to be able to take care of ourselves (and ideally our loved ones too).

OOOOOOOHHHHHH!!!!! That martyr thing is HUGE. That explains the whole guilt thing; I believe we feel guilty when we don't do something we weren't going to do anyway and it's external to us. WAY back in the day, I gave up guilt for Lent one year. I had abandoned the chocolate thing and tried to give up self-destructive habits. And that year and that Lent was huge; I gave up guilt and I have never taken it back.

I wish I could drop this martyr realization into all mother's and women's awareness... as if by magic. It was such a profound realization for me. The butt kicking I needed to finally get out of my own way. It sounds like it was the same for you!

Realizing that when I say "yes" to one thing, there is always an inherent "no" to something else was eye opening for me. (And vice versa). It showed me I already said no all the time. In my mind, it made it easier to switch what I gave a no to vs thinking I had to learn a new skill.

It's a good rule to live by I think! Seeing it as a balance/scales so to speak. I can give in this capacity but something needs to go to counter balance it.

Last year I didn’t do a garden and people were annoyed and shocked. I let the garden rest. I let me rest. My garden, though, decided to not test but instead grow medicinal plants. I listened and learned and am focusing on herbs.

Isn't it so interesting to observe the thoughts and projections others have of us? It used to really bother me... what people thought. But I am glad to hear that you took rest when you needed it! So important.

I am not starting any seeds either, after doing it for 10+ years.
I will go shopping early from others. It is fine this year!
I am also cutting down on all of my tasks and it feels good, once I had established a plan.
I have realized that this year, I cannot do it all myself.
    And it is ok.😊

    • @SpiraeaHerbs

Yes it was such a huge realization for me as well. That I was trying to do it all and its just not possible. Not that and be healthy and calm at the same time! Releasing the need to start seeds felt good.

Absolutely,I watched this all the way to the end..cause man oh man it is Goooood Stuff!!! :)
I appreciate your honesty, transparency, authenticity. You were speaking all of the things that I often tell myself, but hearing it coming from somebody that I've been following and have a lot of respect for, it entered my ears in a whole new way.
Thank you so much for this invaluable message that my
" burned out self" so desperately needed to hear!
    🙏♥️😀

I find it so fascinating how messaging can work in this way. 100 people can say the same thing, but it takes until you find the person who carries just the right tones for it to land for you. I am so glad that I could be that person for you and your healing journey.

Thanks Correne💚 I appreciate this… I’m going to reflect on what I can take off my own plate. What I’m feeling like though which is really hard is that what I can most easily take off my plate is what I love most and boosts my confidence. It needs more reflection for me.

    • @SpiraeaHerbs
      @SpiraeaHerbs  7 місяців тому

I feel that so much and I definitely see you. Because that is what I tend to do! I take things off my plate that tend to be the things I love (but aren't necessarily income earners). Definitely sounds like a good journal prompt for you to work through! I hope you find some insight.

Hi Correne! I discovered your channel a few weeks ago and am very grateful for the plant wisdom and knowledge you're sharing with all of us. I think your advice about dropping something is wise. It's a need I am facing regularly (eeeespecially around spring time eeeeeespecially with an ADHD mind) and I realised something : getting something off your plate actually become easier and easier throughout the years. It's just practice! What I like to do, when faced with that choice, is to visualise or name everything that will be able to come into my life as soon as I drop the thing. I love that you mentioned getting your seedlings from a local farm. To me, it looks like no indoor seeding means more support from your local community, more interdependence and of course, more rest. And woaw, it suddenly very abundant! I am quite new to the herbalism world and with that comes a lot of pressure around getting the right education, to feel that I am actively learning and integrating all the resources I can put my hands on. It's pretty overwhelming. (I believe you mentioned something similar in a video or your website - or both! - I don't remember). So today, I decided that I'll put aside the online herbalism course I enrolled in a few months ago and will, at least for the summer time, continue to learn more organically and depending on what I encounter in the collective garden I am a part of. Small generative increments. The course will still be there when I'll need it!
    Happy shedding! 😀🌻

Agreed! I think its like any skill, the more you practice it and honour your skills and boundaries, the easier it becomes. I have found that age contributes to that as well. I give less *bleeps* now that I am older. Ha ha.
I love the idea of visualizing. It's like the concept of when a door closes, a window of opportunity opens. But when you visualize it yourself, it puts you in the driver seat which I very much appreciate and like. Thank you for sharing that!
