Doesn't matter when the brake lines are new in my opinion, however braided lines do have a definite advantage over old perished rubber hoses for sure. You can almost see them expand when the lever is squeezed hard.

My modded DR650 is also great off road now. Power and handling is great for the type of riding you are doing here. Problem is when I want to ride it like a sport bike on the street it's lack of power limits the fun. The T7's power off road is plenty and will be fine on road for most but the 20 + extra ponies of my 790 R and the electronics suite make riding it in anger quite exciting. I must admit I was an expert class road racer for many years and can push harder on pavement than the average rider though.

Hi everyone, I have the T 700 Teneré since July 31, 2019 and have covered 10,000 km, including 4,000 km off road. Never forget that you are on a motorcycle weighing more than 200 kg and in the event of a fall in technically difficult places and on a steep slope alone you can no longer raise the motorcycle. the T 700 is a heavy dual sport and its qualities are expressed on large tracks and long distances and long adventure trips.

@@EverySingleSunday in the example you just cited your friend come and help you so there are two of you.
I have been doing long trips and motorcycle raid off road for many years and sometimes alone and I got through it, during small falls, but sometimes I was in great difficulty on certain terrains on steep slopes due to the weight of this type of motorcycle with luggage and tools ... These are very good motorcycles whether it is the T 700 Teneré or the 790 ADV R but on rock, large stones an enduro is much more suitable. I'm lucky to have a T 700 Tenéré and a 300 BETA X-TRAINER. I am not going to do long distance raid with the X-TRAINER as I am not going to get into difficulty alone with the T 700 Teneré on large scree. This is my analysis of the use of big dual sports. In the end everyone does what they want.
Continue to have fun on each of your motorbikes.

OK, you're getting this bike to a performance level on single track. Great. But will you then set it up for 'travel'... This is an 'adventure bike', invariably meaning finding the optimal compromise for on and off road, with likely +40lbs of kit. Your take on that would be helpful.

    • @EverySingleSunday

The important work you do should tell us where you can take the refinements this bike (...and at what cost) for the trailhead, so as the 'travel' rider can judge and find a balance. 2 main things that seem to hamper the tenere as a true "adventure" bike is the amount of fuel it can carry and the fact that it doesn't have a bolt on sub-frame, if you put panniers and a lot of weight on the rear of it, and then subsequently bend the rear frame your SOL also the suspension seems to be the weak link, it's one thing to upgrade it for single track but the added weight of a true adventure set up is a different beast all together, I guess time will tell. Overall it looks like a great bike, I really like the black one, bad ass!

I called Yamaha and they said over 2500 bikes were preordered and the next batch is due in mid August . Hope mine comes then but who knows . More time to make money for the mods . If you order one now it will probably come in October depending on the Plandemic .

Great video makes me dislike the stock tires on mine all the more. Just curious why no speed indication? Also I noticed when you were having trouble getting it to stop, you had forgotten to disengage the ABS it was back on.
Got my first crash on my Tenere out of the way, rocky descent got me, beat the exhaust up pretty good, little damage to the tail section, and a really good contusion to my wrist. Took forever to find a tree limb long enough and strong enough to bend the exhaust back out so the swing arm could move.

If you could compare cost for the 790 vs 700 after upgrades. Its obvious the 700 has some room for improvement, but i'm wondering how there machines compare once few short comings are attended to. Such as once done T700 cost $13k with say upgrades, and 790 say $15K watch machine would you turn to and for what reasons is price had some weight. Love that bike - counterbalanced smooth goodness, an e-start that actually works (which is key in the precarious situations shown in your 300 in gnarly terrain videos - LOL), grunts down low and rips on top. Had a '13 300 before, the '18 is much better as I can rev in the open bits without my hands going numb.
      .
Your 790 sounds fantastic. These "mid size" ADV bikes are Goldilocks machines in my opinion. Beefy enough to travel on the open road, but manageable enough to go off road where monster ADV bikes would not dare to unless they are borrowed and ridden by a pro who does not care about all the stuff that is gonna break when they are ridden like that. These mid size ADVs are great bikes for Colorado where I live, as we have tons of forest service roads (some quite rocky and rough, needing a lifted bigger tire equipped 4x4 to traverse) everywhere to explore.

    Howdy there,
I've been so excited about this bike coming to the states for a long time; however, I am definitely concerned about the seat height, as I am pretty short (5'5"ish). I haven't found a T7 in stock in town so far so haven't been able to actually sit one just yet. The Tenere 700 is definitely on the taller side in the adventure market.
What are your thoughts on the seat height feel, as I know it is a pretty narrow bike and so it may not be as bad as if if was a more traditional adventure bike. I am currently riding a TW200 with is pretty low as far as seat height is concerned, and I also have an 1973 rd350, which has a super low seat height... In the beginning was feeling the same... But if youll ride a lot it gets boring, you feel more confident and riding aggrrsively is getting more satisfying with time. Its also bike thing, some bikes just cant be ridden calmly (old lc8 adv :D)

Well, for me there are times when I get out in nature to get away from it all. Then there are times when I want to experience the thrill of the ride. They are two different things! I enjoy both, but at different times! When I ride on the trails, it's not about getting away from anything as much as going toward something! Adventure and adrenaline rush!

It's really good for a Rally tire. But it doesn't compare to a knobby in slow loose dirt.
