Update! I have now, thanks to you guys, found out that my dealer did not make the correct setting on the heated grips. I have changed the setting and they are now warmer. Will try them out soon. Thanks all!
Note on the second power outlet. My tracer 900gt comes with the same dash format, and the cutout where you expected your second power outlet is used for a push button switch for the optional heated seat. I have it installed on my bike. I then use a Cig plug into the stock power outlet with two USB outputs to power both phone and gps. Also, an SAE connector for the battery tender doubles to provide power to a heated jacket liner for me when Im really cold. Great vid thanks for posting

I just placed my deposit, and am exhaustively researching accessories. Your thoughts and insights are very helpful. For instance: I am reconsidering mounting side racks, as most of my trips will only be 1-3 nights which can easily be facilitated with the tail rack and duffel bags as you have rigged. Where I live and ride, a full coverage skid (bash) plate is essential. I like the look of the HEED and Adventure Spec offerings more than OEM. Crash Bars?... Again: With the riding I do, they are probably a good idea. There are better products at varying prices out there that I like better than OEM. Until your video, I had no idea they made grip pads for this bike. Those are now on my list because I know how valuable they can be in gnarly terrain. Thanks again for your vid.

Was dead set on the KTM 790 ADV R until the Tenere 700 started growing on me as I learned more about it. The $9999 vs the $13,600 is significant. I keep hearing how enjoyable the Tenere is to ride off-road with that flat and wide torque curve. All the sophisticated modes on the KTM can't be enjoyed simply, and menu diving isn't my idea of fun, at all. The flat Tenere 700 powerband makes for wonderfully predictable throttle control. I heard one of KTM's lead Rally riders says he keeps his KTM on one mode and that's it. You can't be wondering what friggin mode you are in when you are confronted with constantly changing terrain. If you quickly come across diagonal ruts or roots etc, and are in the wrong mode on the KTM you can't wheelie over them. There's simply no time to adjust. Many people have said Yamaha gave us an uninspired and behind the times ADV bike. It's ironic that the typically tech minded and gadgetry minded Japanese chose a lower cost simple but elegant bike, that allows you to stay in touch with the feedback from the bike rather than the computer. I really like the KTM too and am not a hater, and am in the "short list" phase like you. They claim the 790 ADV R's are almost all sold and down to a few left here in the states, so it's list price and sometimes plus to buy one. Ever since the Tenere was imminent and supposed to become available though, the same ten available 790 ADV R's are suspiciously sitting around. If they start to deal bit, I'd still go with the KTM, but since they probably won't I'll be racing you to the Yamaha dealer once they can be ordered.
@@saladdays180s9 I will be putting a deposit on the T7 as soon as I can get to the dealership . That bike will be the perfect go between until I am ready for the new Africa Twin standard version with DCT . So it's DR650 now in 4 months a Tenere 700 and maybe a year or so a Africa Twin .
Hardworking American Being that this will be my first adventure bike, as a counterpoint to buying new I have been looking used lower cost options like the DR and KLR. I’ve had an R1150RT BMW sport tourer for street and a motocross bike from my youth. Trying to find the unicorn that melds the two. Just came across a used low mileage KTM 690R enduro that has Tusk panniers etc, at a nicer used KLR or DR price. Wondering if I should start with something along those lines. Since in essence I’m a stage behind you in experience, I really appreciate the background info and perspective.
@@saladdays180s9 Sorry but you have had a large street bike for probably some time and I only got the DR new in 2018 although it's a 2019 . That's my first motorcycle besides renting quads in Baja and borrowing friends dirt bikes in my youth . Only have 570 miles on it and it needs to go and get the first new bike service inspection here pretty quick . Almost got the DRZ400 in 2012 but I put the money into my business instead . Then I was up in Lake Tahoe a couple years ago and rented a waverunner for the first time , I couldn't stop smiling and yahwhoing it was so fun . I got on the computer and was looking at buying a waverunner but I talked myself out of it . I was also watching utube videos of guys riding DR650s in Australia and I thought man I am going to be 50 soon so I better start now . Went out and bought a DR650 and took the new rider safety course and passed it . That was in October '18 . My business is totally time and energy consuming and I couldn't find any time to ride until about May of last year . Then I took the written test and passed at the DMV in July . Haven't been able to ride for a few weeks because of the flu and work but I will put a few miles on it tomorrow . Another thing is it's going to be a pain to make room in the garage for another bike but I am going to do it . I buy abandoned storage units and sell at flea markets and Ebay etc etc . Love it but it's a grind . We bought one for 4200 and it's kicking out vintage G.I. Joe's toys collectables trains models and cool stuff for the flea . So far we will double our money and we only have seen 40% of the unit . Sometimes it doesn't go that way though . I had a week a month ago where I worked 100 hours and paid to do it , like a few hundred dollars or more . That sucks big time but that is very rare . Wow I haven't had any coffee and I am on a mega rant , haha . Anyway let us know what you get . Peace .

Real auctions back then and collectors of every type were amassing collections in months that would take 20yrs prior to that. I enjoyed in particular mid-century and danish modern furniture, and everything from that era. I'd go out on lunch break and come back with my car or truck sometimes totally full not having spent $50.. I had to slow down eventually, because I started having trouble letting go of things, and I'm no hoarder but my garage was packed. My daughter once mused that I had exactly 53 mid century lamps and fixtures at one point. Now I try to limit myself to finding things curbside on garbage day. We have an aging populous like my 78 year old mother who has started to routinely grab things stored in the basement and attic to throw out. They need to do it in order to uncomplicate their lives I think. Anyhow, some of my most cherished finds are from the trash. I was lucky in life when I turned 48 a handful of years back and made crazy money to retire. I started becoming a buyer instead off a seller. As of a year ago I'm also one of those guys who get roped into investing in new ventures and lost $1.5 million. The feds are trying to help but the majority of the $$$ left our shores. Ironically, I'm enjoying myself again a bit because the hunt for cool things has meaning again. It also means I have to carefully consider big purchases like my motorcycle. Part of the reason I want an adventure bike though is to escape the hurt and embarrassment of my stupidity though. Anyhow, I just finally decided to raid my retirement funds to buy a great deal on a 2019 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R. The dealers are practically giving them away, so the few sellers out there looking to unload their bike, and who generally add luggage racks, and panniers, GPS etc are forced to make their bikes even cheaper. This evening, one such bloke listed his bike a few hours away from me. A 2019 KTM Super Adventure R loaded with $4k in top quality kit, and 1,700 miles on the odometer and minty. 13K. No doc fee, no prep fee, no destination fee, and no fee fee, and because of those fees about $1,500 less than the bare bones 790R for which I had left a deposit. I know it's a handful of a bike, but because I live just outside of Cleveland in the burbs it takes quite a bit of road riding to get to decent off road trails. Whilst not a BMW on the road, it can handle my wife on the back and seems to be comfortable enough seat wise to take long trips with her as the pillion. When you do finally get your motorcycle, maybe we should keep in touch. I love haunting estate sales, garage sales, and the curb. Maybe create a cycle ride around a well thought out route looking for treasure. Can always come back with a truck if it doesn't fit in the panniers. Last but not least, my grandfather in law owns a storage unit business. He always just sold the contents of delinquent units himself, and gave the rest away. Our house can hold so many unwanted player pianos. lol The perfect number for me is none, try someone else Grandpa. He's getting too old to do it himself, and one of his granddaughters is slowly taking the reins. It is not in her constitution to sell off items to recoup costs, maybe I can convince her to start holding auctions;-)
Agree with the crash bars. Had them on various bikes and had them off. Also seen crash bars can crack a frame or break an engine mount - seeing this from some rides I have done with others. I will rather have the plastics get damaged than the aforementioned accidents. The only thing I would say is that the crash bars help protect the radiator. However I have found radiator braces a lot better.
Yes, this was very helpful. We are close to seeing first deliveries of this bike at the dealership in Atlanta and I'm certain I'd want the center stand. Yes, to the additional 12V socket were it not on the bar as was installed on your bike. All in all, an enjoyable review. Ride safe. Have fun. Keep us posted .
Great information. Here is what I have done so far. Pirelli Rally front, Tractionator rear, New suspension springs for my mass, front and rear. Fastway pegs, foam air filter, axp skidplate, heated grips, rear rack, front crash bars. Camel high exhaust on the way.
As for the brake pedal hitting the skid plate, I suppose if you hit the pedal against something while riding or falling, it could get bent ever so slightly inward that it ends up being blocked by the skid plate.
Thank you for sincere comments. That's quite bad design flaw on that skidplate. That could lead to severe crash in worst case. Really tempted to buy T7 and this was good information.
Wow, dealer didn't pick up on the rear brake pedal clearance. Glade you didn't crash. I went aftermarket SW-moteck for thickness reasons and engine bars also SW-moteck. On my 2019 650 vstrom Suzuki.
Had the Yamaha heated grips and they are rubbish at best and the cost of them is not worth it plus you have to buy the spacers to make up the difference on the handle bar as they are too short, i ended up putting Oxford adventure heated Grips on and they are the full size of the handle bar so no need for spacers and they get really hot. I also installed a twin socket usb on the right side of the clocks which is in keeping with the factory 12v socket on the left side and wired into the loom and also acts as a voltage monitor, when running it shows about 14.1 volts which is good if you ever get any voltage drops you will see it on the dial Great bike, i love mine, a stonker of a machine
oxford heated grips will burn your hands that what i run. good pointers. i think the yam back rack is very good helps a lot when you drop the bike very good grab handles on it, but it does weigh a lot though.
@@kee7678 Maybe at my age of 67 I should consider something that will keep the front wheel on the asphalt. Hard though not to stay young on a sport touring bike.
On the 2023 Tenere base, at least for the EU, in those slots to the left and right of the display you have an ABS button (left) and USB slot (right). I imagine the 12v adapter still goes on the handlebars because of that.

Great video. Do you still have your GS or did you completely switch it out for the T7? I know the T7 is the best off-road. And I know it's not that bad on asphalt. But would it cause regrets to get rid of your comfy enduro-tourer? I have an X-ADV. Loving the all rounder capabilities as well as off-road. But just need a little bit more speed off-road and I'm afraid I might pull the bike apart if I try. I have to sell it to be able to get a T7 so I cant have both. I like off-roading but I also like inter-city touring. So undecisive. I'd definately need a gel comfort seat made for the T7 if I get it.
Hi! I sold the GS to buy the T7. I knew I sold the comfort to get more fun, which is what I got indeed. I have no problems spending full days in the saddle, even though it's less comfortable. Never looked back.
I have those same heated grips on my mt09. Big disappointment for me, not just the low heat. The worst part is they are really slippery now after a few thousand kms. Also there was condensation on the leds. Bad heating performance was also after detting it up right. I have warranty on mine and am waiting since October last year. But I'd rather get a different brand this time.
Hmm I still can’t decide ? 🤔 a used GS 1200 rally with way under 10k for about 15k or a fully equipped new T700 a few grand less or a AT with DCT new. Sold my XT660R I’m leaning more towards the more bike for the buck ...

It is strange with your heated grips. I have the exact same OEM heated grips and they work perfect. I actually have to use them on the middle temp. You do know that there are different settings according to your bikes amp power right ?
Interesting stuff, good tip re the bash plate. I've opted for the OEM heated grips as they blend in really well, but I hope they are warm enough! My previous Oxford grips were toasty. There's a lot of stuff becoming available for the T7, but I don't want to ruin the aesthetics of the bike...I don't want it buried under a ton of weighty accessories !. Some Barkbusters and maybe Mosko moto throw over panniers. Rally Raid have some nifty bits for the T7. Cheers, Steve

Yes I'll be curious to see this as well. I want the simple clean design of the Yamaha grips. But all I hear is they are no good. So I'm curious if they actually work once they are installed as per the instructions.
I have the OEM ones installed and selected as Large motorcycle. They work very nice, I stay on two leds normally, with 3 leds is sometimes too hot with Revit winter gloves. Also me still in love with this beauty!

Is this the base pack XS 6.5 or 12 ? and how does it fit ? I'm searching for a bag to put on the rear luggage carrier when i want to ride light without the topcase. Thanks 👍
Hi. I have the Base pack 12. I don't have the luggage tack anymore but I fasten it directly on the saddle if I have nothing packed, or strap it on top of a pannier. It's a very versatile bag.
If you have no side carriers, the Enduristan Blizzard up to XL fit very well on the T700. I would recommend them rather than the Monsoon, which are better fitted on a side carrier. Not to mention the coming Monsoon Evo of course 😉

Thanks for a great video. I am about to buy an adventure bike and after watching your videos it have destilled down to the T700 and the KTM 790 advR. Do you have any advice for me buying the t700 instead of the 790? For me the price difference feels like one major advantage but you who have had the T700 for a while might have any advice? Should you buy the T700 again or spend the extra 30kkr?
Good info & tips thanks. I only put faith in reviews from riders who actually buy the product and have used it for several thousand km. Reviews from those using a dealer loaned bike for a short-term or a brand new purchase seem to over the (-) negatives.
Any regrets on removing the factory crash bars? I just bought a used T7 that came with factory crash bars and I am thinking of removing them... Thoughts? I did install GB Racing protection for the clutch and alternator. I will likely get water pump and pipe protection from GB Racing too. Seems like those are the components that need protection.
The T7 doesn't come with crash bars. You have to add them, and I never added any. 63.000 km and many falls/crashes. No damage at all. I like the slim and light T7. The hand guards take most beating, and the engine covers gives a little peace of mind too. In many cases crash bars get scratched when falling, but that also comes from the bike being wider. Not that it saved your bike. You will not see crash bars on my bike :) But I think most people add them. Those are my thoughts :)
Looks good but having been stuck on some spanish trails due to them turning to mud and locking front wheel and having to unbolt my front mudguard to get my vstrom out i'm disapointed to see that this "adventure bike" also has the mudguard so close to front wheel. Is there a kit to raise it to give more clearance. Have you had any problems with mud locking front wheel.
Hi. The front guard can be adjusted about 1cm up on the T7 by design. So they thought about that. Perhaps not much but it makes a difference. I haven't had a problem yet.

Hi Nomad Sweden. You are a real helper when it comes to how to treat and handle your T7 and its accessories. I am also the proud owner of the T7. Looking at your videos, i have also decided to add acerbis handguards, i have purchesed Handguards Acerbis X-Factory Yamaha Tenere 700. By the looks of it acerbis did not take into account that the bike handlebars are tapered. Would like to hear from if you had similar issue when fitting yours on T7 and if you have any advice how to deal with this. Keep on promoting this great bike and safe travels.
Hi and thanks! I did have some issues getting it to fit but they are sitting tight without alterations. However it's not 100% in contact with the handlebar. As you said because of the taper and bend. I also I realized the inner part of the mounting was very low and turning the handle it came in contact with the tank, scratching it. So, not a great fit, but it works now.
Great review for a long list of accessories. Is the 12V Aux Outlet on switched power or always "hot"? Do you know if the original accessories power plug was used?
Dealers are a real problem here in DK, they didn't glue my heated grip correctly, they stripped a bolt on the pan... Also bottom pan and engine guard is in version 02 now (version 3)
@@NomadSweden We have one in Copenhagen that is really good, the rest is bad. When I picked up my bike as agreed it wasn't ready so I had to take the train home. It took me 8 months to wrestle the engine guards out of them . But I like the bike, and the simplicity. It's waiting for a world trip after Corona :-)
Great walk thru Nomad, I think You have farkled it up nice! Your heated grip control looks alot better than on my KTM's. Centerstand is convenient but I skipped that for the weight. Hope we will have the opportunity to meet up sometime.
And for the truly fanatical enthusiast....another owner/well known commenter hinted rather strongly that RALLY RAID of England will be working on a set of tubeless wheels for the 700!
Is your luggage rack the lightweight one or the one rated for the Topcase? I have to have the center stand on my bikes as they are absolutely invaluable!
The rack was the Yamaha standard from their shop. I sold it because it weighed 12kg(!). Centre stand is awesome but I removed it after it got stuck in offroad too many times.
@@NomadSweden - I have read that the Hepco centerstand doesn’t stick out as far and therefore doesn’t cause this problem. Do you know if this is correct? BTW, thank you for your reply.
I don't have the mounts for the panniers, only the "Rear carrier" so I couldn't mount any alu-boxes. But I use only soft bags and I don't need anything to mount them on. That's why I might take the carrier off in the end. Too bad you have to wait so long! It's worth the wait though :)
@@NomadSweden of course. I rode a KLR 650 for years. Finally sold it and bought a 2005 1200gs for commuting. I have had my eye on the t700 for a long time. I've ridden the mt07 and I love the engine! I do believe the t700 is gonna be bike of the year. I plan to get mine in June and my first big ride will be from Nevada , USA to the very top of Baja Mexico.

All the reviews focus on the off road performance ( I have a Ktm 400 E-XC for this ) how does it perform on longer road tours ? Is the 700 cc breathless on motorways 🛣? Love yr vids . 👍
Thanks! Well, the engine is no problem on motorways. Active riding on twisties is super fun and capable. It's long days on the highway that is the biggest problem. Wind and seat are not made for the long hauls. But this is a bike you modify. You can make it a highway machine if you want. It's just not out of the box.
Hey Nomad would you recommend this bike to a beginning rider? cause i was thinking to buy The mt 03 but then i began watching videos of bikers traveling(wich i rlly want to do on my bike). and began doubting my decision to buy a mt 03. because if i have to another bike after just a year orso cause most riders swap the mt 03 after a year or 2 because they want more power. i was thinking why not buy a T 700 and learn on a bike i will probably ride forever. I am 30 years old and i alrdy had my; Gotta go fast phase in life. i just rlly want a bike that i can rely on and tour with. What are your thoughts?
Hi! I would absolutely recommend the T7 to start with. It’s very forgiving and smooth. I started on a 260kg bmw 1200 gsa, so anything goes. Just make sure the T7 fits your height. It is a bit on the high side which can be tricky if you are short. Then you may consider lowering it a bit. The T7 will give you confidence on gravel and open up the world outside the tarmac for you. Hello Mr. Nomad, I'm taking a look back at your early T7 videos because I'm taking delivery of a 23 T7 soon. Have you put out any videos on your favorite riding gear: boots, jacket, pants, comms... I'm beginning to see that this endeavor is going to be a rabbit hole for my wallet. But, I respect your opinion.
Jag tror du ska lämna tillbaka handtagsvärmarna. Jag klpte liknande från ”hedsyamahashop” och på 3:e steget så blev dom varna så jag knappt kunde hålla dom. Har nu en yamaha tracer och dom fungerar något bättre men hade inga problem med den typen du köpt. Värt att veta?
Funder starkt på att byta in min KTM 1190 AdvR till en Tenere. Valet är mellan att skaffa en 690 med rallytankar och vindruta, men känns som att motorn är tryggare på Teneren. Min fråga är: Vad har du för räckvidd på en tank? Har lite nojja över sånt :-)
Fan va sugen jag blivit dom senaste dagarna på en T7.. Vore kul med nått lite lättare än R1250GSA på skogsvägarna.. Hade en KTM 1090 R innan och även den var kul men fortfarande 20kg tyngre än Teneren.. Är bara 6 minuter in i detta klippet än så länge och kommer titta på fler av dina filmer sen.

Just saw this! Hope it helps. They don't get super hot like Oxford grips, but I find them adequate. Can feel heat through my Furygan winter gloves.
Had the same, but for me it was enough. Now i have it correctly set up and its even better.

Ever since the Tenere was imminent and supposed to become available though, the same ten available 790 ADV R's are suspiciously sitting around. If they start to deal bit, I'd still go with the KTM, but since they probably won't I'll be racing you to the Yamaha dealer once they can be ordered.

I will be putting a deposit on the T7 as soon as I can get to the dealership . That bike will be the perfect go between until I am ready for the new Africa Twin standard version with DCT . So it's DR650 now in 4 months a Tenere 700 and maybe a year or so a Africa Twin .

Being that this will be my first adventure bike, as a counterpoint to buying new I have been looking used lower cost options like the DR and KLR. I’ve had an R1150RT BMW sport tourer for street and a motocross bike from my youth. Trying to find the unicorn that melds the two.
Just came across a used low mileage KTM 690R enduro that has Tusk panniers etc, at a nicer used KLR or DR price. Wondering if I should start with something along those lines. Since in essence I’m a stage behind you in experience, I really appreciate the background info and perspective.

Sorry but you have had a large street bike for probably some time and I only got the DR new in 2018 although it's a 2019 . That's my first motorcycle besides renting quads in Baja and borrowing friends dirt bikes in my youth . Only have 570 miles on it and it needs to go and get the first new bike service inspection here pretty quick .
Almost got the DRZ400 in 2012 but I put the money into my business instead . Then I was up in Lake Tahoe a couple years ago and rented a waverunner for the first time , I couldn't stop smiling and yahwhoing it was so fun . I got on the computer and was looking at buying a waverunner but I talked myself out of it . I was also watching utube videos of guys riding DR650s in Australia and I thought man I am going to be 50 soon so I better start now . Went out and bought a DR650 and took the new rider safety course and passed it . That was in October '18 . My business is totally time and energy consuming and I couldn't find any time to ride until about May of last year . Then I took the written test and passed at the DMV in July .
Haven't been able to ride for a few weeks because of the flu and work but I will put a few miles on it tomorrow .
Another thing is it's going to be a pain to make room in the garage for another bike but I am going to do it . I buy abandoned storage units and sell at flea markets and Ebay etc etc . Love it but it's a grind . We bought one for 4200 and it's kicking out vintage G.I. Joe's toys collectables trains models and cool stuff for the flea . So far we will double our money and we only have seen 40% of the unit . Sometimes it doesn't go that way though . I had a week a month ago where I worked 100 hours and paid to do it , like a few hundred dollars or more . That sucks big time but that is very rare .

@@hardworkingamerican8847 I have been an incorrigible garage and estate sale junkie for a long time, ever since the golden era of ebay in the mid nineties. Real auctions back then and collectors of every type were amassing collections in months that would take 20yrs prior to that.
I enjoyed in particular mid-century and danish modern furniture, and everything from that era. I'd go out on lunch break and come back with my car or truck sometimes totally full not having spent $50.. I had to slow down eventually, because I started having trouble letting go of things, and I'm no hoarder but my garage was packed. My daughter once mused that I had exactly 53 mid century lamps and fixtures at one point. Now I try to limit myself to finding things curbside on garbage day. We have an aging populous like my 78 year old mother who has started to routinely grab things stored in the basement and attic to throw out. They need to do it in order to uncomplicate their lives I think. Anyhow, some of my most cherished finds are from the trash.
I was lucky in life when I turned 48 a handful of years back and made crazy money to retire. I started becoming a buyer instead off a seller. As of a year ago I'm also one of those guys who get roped into investing in new ventures and lost $1.5 million. The feds are trying to help but the majority of the $$$ left our shores. Ironically, I'm enjoying myself again a bit because the hunt for cool things has meaning again. It also means I have to carefully consider big purchases like my motorcycle. Part of the reason I want an adventure bike though is to escape the hurt and embarrassment of my stupidity though.
Anyhow, I just finally decided to raid my retirement funds to buy a great deal on a 2019 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R. The dealers are practically giving them away, so the few sellers out there looking to unload their bike, and who generally add luggage racks, and panniers, GPS etc are forced to make their bikes even cheaper.
This evening, one such bloke listed his bike a few hours away from me. A 2019 KTM Super Adventure R loaded with $4k in top quality kit, and 1,700 miles on the odometer and minty. 13K. No doc fee, no prep fee, no destination fee, and no fee fee, and because of those fees about $1,500 less than the bare bones 790R for which I had left a deposit. I know it's a handful of a bike, but because I live just outside of Cleveland in the burbs it takes quite a bit of road riding to get to decent off road trails. Whilst not a BMW on the road, it can handle my wife on the back and seems to be comfortable enough seat wise to take long trips with her as the pillion.
When you do finally get your motorcycle, maybe we should keep in touch. I love haunting estate sales, garage sales, and the curb. Maybe create a cycle ride around a well thought out route looking for treasure. Can always come back with a truck if it doesn't fit in the panniers. Last but not least, my grandfather in law owns a storage unit business. He always just sold the contents of delinquent units himself, and gave the rest away. Our house can hold so many unwanted player pianos. lol The perfect number for me is none, try someone else Grandpa. He's getting too old to do it himself, and one of his granddaughters is slowly taking the reins. It is not in her constitution to sell off items to recoup costs, maybe I can convince her to start holding auctions;-)

Agree with the crash bars. Had them on various bikes and had them off. Also seen crash bars can crack a frame or break an engine mount - seeing this from some rides I have done with others. I will rather have the plastics get damaged than the aforementioned accidents. The only thing I would say is that the crash bars help protect the radiator. However I have found radiator braces a lot better.

Yes, this was very helpful. We are close to seeing first deliveries of this bike at the dealership in Atlanta and I'm certain I'd want the center stand. Great information. Here is what I have done so far. Pirelli Rally front, Tractionator rear, New suspension springs for my mass, front and rear. Fastway pegs, foam air filter, axp skidplate, heated grips, rear rack, front crash bars. Camel high exhaust on the way.
Sounds good. Hand guards? They are the best protectors of the whole bike.

2nd power outlet is good idea when you have some stuff with high current, cause it suppose to have 10A fuse instead of 2A fuse for standard one
As for the brake pedal hitting the skid plate, I suppose if you hit the pedal against something while riding or falling, it could get bent ever so slightly inward that it ends up being blocked by the skid plate.
zed yep thats probably it. I bent it now and it works, but it’s definitely something to watch out for.
Thank you for sincere comments. That's quite bad design flaw on that skidplate. That could lead to severe crash in worst case. Really tempted to buy T7 and this was good information.

Wow, dealer didn't pick up on the rear brake pedal clearance. Glade you didn't crash. I went aftermarket SW-moteck for thickness reasons and engine bars also SW-moteck. On my 2019 650 vstrom Suzuki.

Had the Yamaha heated grips and they are rubbish at best and the cost of them is not worth it plus you have to buy the spacers to make up the difference on the handle bar as they are too short, i ended up putting Oxford adventure heated Grips on and they are the full size of the handle bar so no need for spacers and they get really hot.
I also installed a twin socket usb on the right side of the clocks which is in keeping with the factory 12v socket on the left side and wired into the loom and also acts as a voltage monitor, when running it shows about 14.1 volts which is good if you ever get any voltage drops you will see it on the dial

oxford heated grips will burn your hands that what i run. good pointers. i think the yam back rack is very good helps a lot when you drop the bike very good grab handles on it, but it does weigh a lot though.

On the 2023 Tenere base, at least for the EU, in those slots to the left and right of the display you have an ABS button (left) and USB slot (right). I imagine the 12v adapter still goes on the handlebars because of that.

Great video. Do you still have your GS or did you completely switch it out for the T7? I know the T7 is the best off-road. And I know it's not that bad on asphalt. But would it cause regrets to get rid of your comfy enduro-tourer? I have an X-ADV. Loving the all rounder capabilities as well as off-road. But just need a little bit more speed off-road and I'm afraid I might pull the bike apart if I try. I have to sell it to be able to get a T7 so I cant have both. I like off-roading but I also like inter-city touring. So undecisive. I'd definately need a gel comfort seat made for the T7 if I get it.
Hi! I sold the GS to buy the T7. I knew I sold the comfort to get more fun, which is what I got indeed. I have no problems spending full days in the saddle, even though it's less comfortable. Never looked back.
I have those same heated grips on my mt09. Big disappointment for me, not just the low heat. The worst part is they are really slippery now after a few thousand kms. Also there was condensation on the leds. Bad heating performance was also after detting it up right. I have warranty on mine and am waiting since October last year. But I'd rather get a different brand this time.
Hmm I still can’t decide ? 🤔 a used GS 1200 rally with way under 10k for about 15k or a fully equipped new T700 a few grand less or a AT with DCT new. Sold my XT660R

Your poweroutlet is wrong mounted it's supposed to be on the right hand side of the cockpit. Not on the handlebar

It is strange with your heated grips. I have the exact same OEM heated grips and they work perfect. I actually have to use them on the middle temp. You do know that there are different settings according to your bikes amp power right ?

Interesting stuff, good tip re the bash plate. I've opted for the OEM heated grips as they blend in really well, but I hope they are warm enough! My previous Oxford grips were toasty. There's a lot of stuff becoming available for the T7, but I don't want to ruin the aesthetics of the bike...I don't want it buried under a ton of weighty accessories !. Some Barkbusters and maybe Mosko moto throw over panniers. Rally Raid have some nifty bits for the T7. Cheers, Steve

I have the OEM ones installed and selected as Large motorcycle. They work very nice, I stay on two leds normally, with 3 leds is sometimes too hot with Revit winter gloves.

Hi. I have the Base pack 12. I don't have the luggage tack anymore but I fasten it directly on the saddle if I have nothing packed, or strap it on top of a pannier. It's a very versatile bag.

If you have no side carriers, the Enduristan Blizzard up to XL fit very well on the T700. I would recommend them rather than the Monsoon, which are better fitted on a side carrier. Not to mention the coming Monsoon Evo of course 😉

Do you have any advice for me buying the t700 instead of the 790? For me the price difference feels like one major advantage but you who have had the T700 for a while might have any advice? Any regrets on removing the factory crash bars? I just bought a used T7 that came with factory crash bars and I am thinking of removing them... Thoughts? I did install GB Racing protection for the clutch and alternator. I will likely get water pump and pipe protection from GB Racing too. Seems like those are the components that need protection.
The T7 doesn't come with crash bars. You have to add them, and I never added any. 63.000 km and many falls/crashes. No damage at all. I like the slim and light T7. The hand guards take most beating, and the engine covers gives a little peace of mind too. In many cases crash bars get scratched when falling, but that also comes from the bike being wider. Not that it saved your bike. You will not see crash bars on my bike :) But I think most people add them. Those are my thoughts :)
Looks good but having been stuck on some spanish trails due to them turning to mud and locking front wheel and having to unbolt my front mudguard to get my vstrom out i'm disapointed to see that this "adventure bike" also has the mudguard so close to front wheel. Is there a kit to raise it to give more clearance. Have you had any problems with mud locking front wheel.
Hi. The front guard can be adjusted about 1cm up on the T7 by design. So they thought about that. Perhaps not much but it makes a difference. I haven't had a problem yet.

Robert, I bought a 12v charger today but it’s too wide. I thought I bought the mini version but alas….too wide. Which charger do you have?
I chose the OEM extra 12V socket when I ordered my bike so it was all OEM stuff. I have removed it now though :) I only have need for one.

Hi Nomad Sweden. You are a real helper when it comes to how to treat and handle your T7 and its accessories. I am also the proud owner of the T7. Looking at your videos, i have also decided to add acerbis handguards, i have purchesed Handguards Acerbis X-Factory Yamaha Tenere 700. By the looks of it acerbis did not take into account that the bike handlebars are tapered. Would like to hear from if you had similar issue when fitting yours on T7 and if you have any advice how to deal with this. Keep on promoting this great bike and safe travels.
Hi and thanks! I did have some issues getting it to fit but they are sitting tight without alterations. However it's not 100% in contact with the handlebar. As you said because of the taper and bend. I also I realized the inner part of the mounting was very low and turning the handle it came in contact with the tank, scratching it. So, not a great fit, but it works now.
Great review for a long list of accessories. Is the 12V Aux Outlet on switched power or always "hot"? Do you know if the original accessories power plug was used?
Thanks. The Aux is switched if plugged in correctly using the available plugs behind the fairings. But my dealer made a mess when installing this.
The heated grips dont seem to last. Mine no longer work.
You also have the OEM accessorie radiator guard I can see...;)

Dealers are a real problem here in DK, they didn't glue my heated grip correctly, they stripped a bolt on the pan... Also bottom pan and engine guard is in version 02 now (version 3)

@@NomadSweden We have one in Copenhagen that is really good, the rest is bad. When I picked up my bike as agreed it wasn't ready so I had to take the train home. It took me 8 months to wrestle the engine guards out of them . But I like the bike, and the simplicity. It's waiting for a world trip after Corona :-)

Great walk thru Nomad, I think You have farkled it up nice! Your heated grip control looks alot better than on my KTM's. Centerstand is convenient but I skipped that for the weight. Hope we will have the opportunity to meet up sometime.

They won't be cheap the tubeless rally raid wheels for the cb500x are almost 50% what the bike is

Is your luggage rack the lightweight one or the one rated for the Topcase? I have to have the center stand on my bikes as they are absolutely invaluable!
The rack was the Yamaha standard from their shop. I sold it because it weighed 12kg(!). Centre stand is awesome but I removed it after it got stuck in offroad too many times.
@@NomadSweden - I have read that the Hepco centerstand doesn’t stick out as far and therefore doesn’t cause this problem. Do you know if this is correct? BTW, thank you for your reply.
I have no idea I'm afraid. I learnt to live without the centre stand since then so I don't think I will get one for a while.

I don't have the mounts for the panniers, only the "Rear carrier" so I couldn't mount any alu-boxes. But I use only soft bags and I don't need anything to mount them on. That's why I might take the carrier off in the end. Too bad you have to wait so long! It's worth the wait though :)
@@NomadSweden of course. I rode a KLR 650 for years. Finally sold it and bought a 2005 1200gs for commuting. I have had my eye on the t700 for a long time. I've ridden the mt07 and I love the engine! I do believe the t700 is gonna be bike of the year. I plan to get mine in June and my first big ride will be from Nevada , USA to the very top of Baja Mexico.

All the reviews focus on the off road performance ( I have a Ktm 400 E-XC for this ) how does it perform on longer road tours ? Is the 700 cc breathless on motorways 🛣? Love yr vids . 👍
Thanks! Well, the engine is no problem on motorways. Active riding on twisties is super fun and capable. It's long days on the highway that is the biggest problem. Wind and seat are not made for the long hauls. But this is a bike you modify. You can make it a highway machine if you want. It's just not out of the box.

Hey Nomad would you recommend this bike to a beginning rider? cause i was thinking to buy The mt 03 but then i began watching videos of bikers traveling(wich i rlly want to do on my bike). and began doubting my decision to buy a mt 03. because if i have to another bike after just a year orso cause most riders swap the mt 03 after a year or 2 because they want more power. i was thinking why not buy a T 700 and learn on a bike i will probably ride forever. I am 30 years old and i alrdy had my; Gotta go fast phase in life. i just rlly want a bike that i can rely on and tour with. What are your thoughts?

Hi! I would absolutely recommend the T7 to start with. It’s very forgiving and smooth. I started on a 260kg bmw 1200 gsa, so anything goes. Just make sure the T7 fits your height. It is a bit on the high side which can be tricky if you are short. Then you may consider lowering it a bit. The T7 will give you confidence on gravel and open up the world outside the tarmac for you. I'm taking a look back at your early T7 videos because I'm taking delivery of a 23 T7 soon. Have you put out any videos on your favorite riding gear: boots, jacket, pants, comms... I'm beginning to see that this endeavor is going to be a rabbit hole for my wallet. But, I respect your opinion.

Jag tror du ska lämna tillbaka handtagsvärmarna. Jag klpte liknande från ”hedsyamahashop” och på 3:e steget så blev dom varna så jag knappt kunde hålla dom. Har nu en yamaha tracer och dom fungerar något bättre men hade inga problem med den typen du köpt. Värt att veta?

What bike is more Worthy? Are Yamaha tenere 700 or a Kawasaki KLR 650?
Funder starkt på att byta in min KTM 1190 AdvR till en Tenere. Valet är mellan att skaffa en 690 med rallytankar och vindruta, men känns som att motorn är tryggare på Teneren. Min fråga är: Vad har du för räckvidd på en tank? Har lite nojja över sånt :-)
Kompisen körde just 37 mil på en tank (16L), men jag brukar se till att tanka vid 30 mil drygt.

Fan va sugen jag blivit dom senaste dagarna på en T7.. Vore kul med nått lite lättare än R1250GSA på skogsvägarna.. Hade en KTM 1090 R innan och även den var kul men fortfarande 20kg tyngre än Teneren.. Är bara 6 minuter in i detta klippet än så länge och kommer titta på fler av dina filmer sen.

Hi! I would absolutely recommend the T7 to start with. It’s very forgiving and smooth. I started on a 260kg bmw 1200 gsa, so anything goes. Just make sure the T7 fits your height. It is a bit on the high side which can be tricky if you are short. Then you may consider lowering it a bit. The T7 will give you confidence on gravel and open up the world outside the tarmac for you.
