I love how the dad just had to point out that he paid for their college and didnt even get their blind obedience in return. It shows you how transactional and debt-oriented these people are, which is why they see the overall indebtedness of society as being moral and positive. It reminds me of so many boomers i know, programmed to see everything as a product including their own children.
To the boomer consumer, all of existence is a retail store and their children are very expensive. College diplomas are their favorite receipts.
