Conclave was good, not great. It was slow at times. I thought the ending overdid it. I also got the names confused and it took me awhile to figure out who was who. However, I like the general message of inclusion, calling out flawed people and Ralph Fiennes' performance. I think Fiennes will be nominated, not sure any other performances will.
I'm more curious about the narrative, especially considering the political context in the USA and the timing just before the election. I read the Wikipedia page about the author, Robert Harris, and watched one of his previous novel to movie adaptations, Ghost 2010. In both there're rather unsubstantiated (in their narratives) insinuations of essential malice or conspiracy; in Ghost it's about implying that the whole purpose of the CIA is malicious conspiracy rather than just the usual human mixture of mainly stupid evil, mediocrity, and occasional brilliance. In this one the insinuations are related to the centuries old conspiracy theories about the Catholic Church, rather than merely some organisations being suspicious- Opus Dei, Knights of Malta, Legionnaires of Christ.
I mean I'm a bit suspicious that it's propaganda timed to influence the US election, or to normalise what might follow if the fascists using "Christian" disguises, including the Opus Dei network, win. (I'm Catholic and I think Opus Dei ought to have been closed down and prohibited by the pope, mainly because of their comfortable relationships with the former fascist military regimes in Spain and Latin America. The only good reason for not doing so is that then they might spread out through more organisations with more complicated to track networks and be even harder to monitor and constrain.) Of course rationally it shouldn't influence people's decisions about that, but when were humans rational!?
Ralph Fiennes come get your Oscar

I’m so impressed with this review. You need to be contributing in a meaningful way in the movie industry. Bravo, well done. 😊
Oh dear, is it too straight for you?
I knew Isabella Rossellini was going to deliver no matter the size of her role

I’m really curious about this ending cause I see so many different reactions to it
I thought it was a well made, fun thriller with a good lead performance. Nothing special or too good, but that’s fine
Not Mean Cardinals lol 💀
Isn’t it a horror film
