    • @MotoCat91
      @MotoCat91 5 років тому +18

      On top of the quality concerns, I've always hated the idea of a square screen in a round housing too, circles are for analogue stuff (round digital watches included in this hate).
      But with the recent uptake of round LCD and OLED screens you could fill it out more and even replicate analogue gauges.
      Like, a cheap smartwatch, one of those knock offs that run full Android, could bluetooth into a $5 OBD2 adapter, and display a full colour circular analogue gauge with customisable axes, and for a fraction of the cost.
      So why -do- these things cost so much?

I could even give you the part number if you wanted, I dont know it right off hand but I have a baggie of them in my service truck.

    You can get good Deutch pins from Altronics. Jaycar have some as well, which will work but the crimp end isn't a tube & doesn't work with the legit Deutch tool, just a regular crimper.

    Definately do a video on obd2 to iPhone/iPad gauge cluster. Would be cool cos anyone with basically any newer car to do a custom gauge cluster with actual values rather than Hot - Cold or full -empty etc. good work guys.
    And do a challenge series with mech stig’s cappuchino
