It's a 6 string banjo, same tuning as a guitar... he's playing a guitar that's made to sound like a banjo, but nowhere near as capable as an actual banjo.
That drone footage/destruction at the end needs the somber banjo music from 0:33-1:32 Keep up the awesome work fellas! And at the auto parts store they always comment on my hat and I get much better customer service now.
The gauge is cool and functionality is awesome, but have to say that the quality of the display on both units is pretty agricultural. Reckon they could be made better
On top of the quality concerns, I've always hated the idea of a square screen in a round housing too, circles are for analogue stuff (round digital watches included in this hate). But with the recent uptake of round LCD and OLED screens you could fill it out more and even replicate analogue gauges. Like, a cheap smartwatch, one of those knock offs that run full Android, could bluetooth into a $5 OBD2 adapter, and display a full colour circular analogue gauge with customisable axes, and for a fraction of the cost. So why -do- these things cost so much?
This channel is one of the few that i've followed since the start! Usually you outgrow a channel but it feels like this channel grows as I do! Keep up the good work and content boys, much love from, Scotland
love the banjo playin in the background, I totally thought it was a backing track at first, then the camera panned right and you were playing, would love to see more of this in the future with all sorts of different instruments, great addition to the episode! Very talented Moog!
works on other ecu's too. I run a haltech but run gauges. Configuring that multi-display gauge looks like more of a brain fart than a single wire to a sender.. Also, knowing the position of a needle is easier to quickly glance at and comprehend than a small digital numeral.

thanks for sharing more than one way to install gauges to their car. there are a few Bluetooth obd dongles out there and there is one called OBD11 and this isn't just a Bluetooth dongle. you can also do some coding to change adaptions like opening and closing of your windows via your fob or change your daytime running lights to your fogs. mostly for VAG group though.keep up the good work guys.
Great vid. I use the Torque app on my factory ECU to monitor when im not logging with a laptop for tuning. Such a great option. If anyone goes the smartphone route buy the best OBD adapter you can afford as it can update much faster and be effective. My current adapter updates about the same time as my laptop which has a USB connection when logging. So much info from a stock ECU.
I use on Android Torque Pro because it has a mirror mode where it draws the app backwards so you can put it on a no-slip mat on the dash and it's like a hologram on the window. It uses bluetooth to a cheap ODBII reader. Whole cost with a used potato-quality tablet was like 50 US.
For future reference, those DT pins, or deutch pins that Marty said are hard to get and take forever to arrive, are available if you know where to look. Your friendly local caterpillar dealer sells them over the counter because 95% of the electrical connectors on cat equipment is DT.
