error #1: the escape key does not perform undo when double pressed, it's the UNDO key below that acts in this wonky manner.
This is certainly the most detailed video in regards to the functions of this keyboard.
Thank you very much!
You’re welcome!
Thank you. This is the only video explaining the functionality of each of the keys. I have not been able to find a manual.
You're welcome! I'm glad you liked the video! More videos on editing with DaVinci Resolve is in the works!
Amazing tutorial. Great work. I would only consider not using this dramatic and generating unnecessary tension and stress music . I watched wideo few times because the knowledge packed in it was very helpful but the music really made me pause few times
Yes, I thought about this when I was making and adding the music, which ended up being unnecessarily dramatic. You are right, more mellow and relaxing tunes would serve the video and audience better. I will try to come up with more positive music and vibes in the videos to come. Thanks for an excellent observation! 🙏
Thanks for making this. Very useful.
Thank you! I will be making more videos on editor keyboard.
Blackmagic have a major learning disability in their training department and this video clearly shows the gap - The comment below shows that-- This is certainly the most detailed video in regards to the functions of this keyboard.
Thank you! I'm happy to hear you find my video useful.
great video, helped me a lot with my editor keyboard . Your music help me focus seriously
Thank you. There are more videos in the works! Two more videos on Editor keyboard, to make the runthrough complete. 🙏
@@VIDTOOLZ yes please the full QWERTY section would be wonderful
@@VIDTOOLZ Hi, Any idea or an update on the release date of the two additional Editor Keyboard .. you are in a master class of your own with your in-depth knowledge and skills.
Thanks, @VIDTOOLZ for the video, very thorough and clear, with excellent examples. I enjoyed watching it, nice work! Did you write the music bed? It's subtle, but also a bit haunting…
Thank you very much! Yes I did the background music also. it's just so much fun playing with cool sounds!
When are the other buttons coming🙏🏼I was looking for a series like this...
The videos are in the works and will be published soon-ish
Great, jag sätter på lite kaffe under tiden 😊
Thank you so much for this detailed tutorial with examples! Super helpful! You mention in the description that this is the first of three episodes about the keyboard. When will the next ones be coming?
Thank you very much! The next episode in the works and I will hopefully be able to publish it in a week or two.
Excellent video, love the drama! I wonder if you wouldn't mind measuring the underside part of the keyboard so I know what size hole to cut in my desk before I go ahead and purchase it. Blackmagic's website gives the upper/outer dimensions but I need the bottom/inner dimensions. Thanks!!
Thank you very much! I'm no carpenter, but it would seem that the required slot for the keyboard would be about one centimeter less from the dimensions of the keyboard in both width and height. It might be a good idea to do a test with some cheaper material to test the proper size of the slot.
Appreciate the quick reply! Thank you. I had thought there might be a 1cm overhang on each of the four sides, but I don't have the keyboard to confirm. If so, the hole would need to be 2cm wider and 2cm longer than the Blackmagic website stated outer dimensions.
If you have the keyboard, would you mind confirming the size of the part that would go into a hole? Or minimally sending a photo of the underside of the keyboard?
There seems to be no info online and because of my desk construction (complicated), I hope I can get the size before ordering the keyboard. Thanks again!!
Thanks for this video, it's super helpful!
Unfortunately, I can't find a way to make work many of the alphabet keys (Q,E,Y,U,S,F,.G,X,V): When I press them, even in combination with CMD, CTRL, ALT, nothing happens.
Can you make a tutorial on how to use those keys? That would be great.
Yes, I plan to create more videos on the Editor keyboard. Recently I have been busy on creating a series of shorts videos on the basic fundamentals of video files. 🙏
yes please!@@VIDTOOLZ
Great video.
You have some effects I would like to learn how to do.
😊
Thank you very much! What effects do you mean? 🙏
@@VIDTOOLZ the slide effect that you have in the beginning while looking at the keyboard.
That is a fusion transition called Foreground wipe and it is available in the studio version of resolve. @@beitaveinu
@@VIDTOOLZ awesome. I'll try it. I have the studio version.
Thank you.
I just bought the editor keyboad and love it, I hope to get an answer to my question about the F/TC key. Everytine I press is to get to a certain location on a mediapool clip via timecode, the number field switches to frame count, in other words everytime I press the F/TC key it defaults to frame count. I have right clicked on the number field to change it back ti tC display, but it seems to switch back to frame count. How can that be fixed?
The short answer is: I dont know. I have the same behaviour on my editor keyboard's F/TC key. I asked about this in the BMD forum weeks ago, so far no answers. The DaVinci Resolve manual actually states the obvious: the key should toggle between the timecode and frame count views. But at the moment, it does not. I would expect some kind of software/firmware update from Blackmagic Design to fix this. I would also like to know if this problem exists in the mac OS as well. I'm using Windows 11.
Thank you. I checked the manual too and you're right. I am on a mac with this issue. I re-mapped the P key to goto Timecode and it works, but I want the designated key to do that, as this keyboard is still not cheap.@@VIDTOOLZ
Thanks. Would you consider doing an evaluation and review of tourbox neo elite for use with resolve?
I´m not familiar with that device. Do you know how popular it is? Particularly among videoeditors?
Just curious - what is the benefit using both Speed Editor and Resolve Editor Keyboard when working with Davinci Resolve?
I dont think anyone recommends that, but I like to have them both, as I use DaVinci Resolve quite a lot. Having both gives more options on how to work and more freedom to choose different ways to operate Resolve. I also have several edit workstations.
awesome videos... but there's one little question, how foes the F/TC key work? It seems to always go to frame, instead of timecode, do you know why and how I can change that to go to TC?
Thank you very much! What device/camera are you using?
Sony A7S3@@VIDTOOLZ
Do you guys know if the editor keyboard works in Linux?
Yes it does. But as Linux goes, it may require some additional setup and make sure you have a supported distro of Linux.
I own this keyboard and I'm on an amd x570 system and I've been having quite some trouble with it. The jogwheel will randomly stop working. Have you heard of this before? Do you have any tips?
I recommend you writing to the Blackmagic design's forum. There are the best experts to evaluate your problem. I have found it to be helpful countless times when ever I have had some problems with my BMD software or hardware.
@@VIDTOOLZ I did, it wasn't very helpful. Ended up returning the keyboard and getting the speed editor instead. Still low-key bummed about it.
I’m sorry to hear this. It’s a pity the forum wasn’t helpful. I hope Blackmagic Design will continue to put resources into the forum, for it to be helpful for its customers. As creators, we don’t have much resources to troubleshoot, we just switch gear and move on.
I just sent mind back to Blackmagic to Melbourne Australia , it is a known fault/ problem , just send them your keyboard but first get them to check the serial number and if it matches they will fix it ..but the turn around time was 4 weeks !!! Round trip from New Zealand the whole thing cost me $250.00 NZD
I hate video editing. Love color grading. Not a pleasant combo. lol.
What is it in video edting that makes you hate it?
