    Great overview Danny! The insight into using the tab key is brilliant for the shorter reach.

    Best thing is the money you save on the license, which is 300-400 separately

    I like the EK but I wish they did another version with the jog/shuttle on the left side; I like to use the Speed Editor on the left side where I'm still able to use the mouse.

      I am like you I currently use an xKeys "XK-68 Jog & Shuttle" l and have that on the left of my keyboard and use my left hand so my right can be on the mouse... then both hands can come in and onto the keyboard if needed.

    Off topic question sir which is best in between of two
    Da Vinci resolve fusion or after effects.
    Prospectus of video editing and VFX graphics

    I love your video, and I too am coming from resolve, and have purchased the keyboard as an “all-in gesture” and to get the studio version of resolve. I was wondering if you knew of ANY COURSE WHATSOEVER on this exact device? There really is one needed!

      As far as I know I haven’t seen anything. I’m still trying to understand a few things but I’ll keep this idea in mind.

    I"m just a noob, but i'm really happy with the speed editor in combination with my regular keyboard with custom hotkeys. I believe the scroll/jog wheel is the best part of the speed editor and editor keyboard. Also the portability of the speed editor is nice. When it comes to pricing, don't forget they both come with davinci resolve studio (activation for two computers)

    It is really beautiful and it also speeds up your work. I have one question: Does the product come with a key to activate Davinci Resolve?

    Off topic question, which Mac model and specs are you using for resolve and what camera footage do you use? I’ve heard that Sony video codecs are heavily to edit and color on resolve compared to other names. What are your thoughts regarding that? I am thinking of getting g this keyboard because it comes with resolve license and should make my editing life easier and faster.

      I’m using LUMIX cameras often 4k 422 10bit but never really had issues grading. Especially in m1 macs

    I just bought the editor keyboad and love it, I hope to get an answer to my question about the F/TC key. Everytine I press is to get to a certain location on a mediapool clip via timecode, the number field switches to frame count, in other words everytime I press the F/TC key it defaults to frame count. I have right clicked on the number field to change it back ti tC display, but it seems to switch back to frame count. How can that be fixed?

    • @OnlineCreatorStudio
      @OnlineCreatorStudio  Рік тому

      Good question. I'm actually not 100% sure if you can have it switched. I think it might be something you have to do with a modifier. I'll test it tomorrow and see if I can figure something out and then get back to you.

    Thanks for the review. Seems a bit surprising that the keyboard lacks some functions of the cheaper Speed Editor.

    this was a great review... i just purchased the keyboard editor and there aren't enough videos on it to fully understand all of the functions. Would love to know if you have found a way to move clips freely up and down tracks without having to use the mouse? Right now i'm leaning towards returning the keyboard editor and just going with the speed editor which i've borrowed from a friend currently.

    • @OnlineCreatorStudio
      @OnlineCreatorStudio  Рік тому +5

      Thanks for watching. So the keyboard shortcut option up and down arrow will lock a clip and move it up and down a track. This can be used on any keyboard. As i mention in the review. I can see where a lot of people would go with a speed editor. I just didn't want another thing on my desk to have to grab in order to edit something 'faster'. I'm coming from a decade plus cutting in final cut and having to learn new shortcuts the editor keyboard helps. Because even though the jog wheel and the additional keys on the left-hand side are great features I'm also learning the actual shortcuts so if i don't have the keyboard I don't feel like I'm frustrated all over again.

    What happens if you change or use custom keyboard layout? There are several keys labelled with color tags to make easier to find and memorize shortcuts but does those stop to work with custom keyboard layouts? does it only work fully with the Davinci Resolve standard keyboard layout?

    • @OnlineCreatorStudio
      @OnlineCreatorStudio  Рік тому +1

      No I have mine maped to a custom Final Cut layout. But I did start with the standard just to understand. If there are keys that you haven’t customized they stay on the standard resolve setup so the color code helps. But they are only to get you started.

    This keyboard is nice, but keep in mind that you’ll sacrifice basic keyboard functions like print Screen, entering BIOS etc. It’s an inconvenience having 2 keyboards to fully access your PC’s keyboard options. I defiantly don’t recommend it for home or everyday use. You’re better off with the speed editor!

      If your PC I can totally understand that. I run on a mac and can control most features with an app called raycast.
