• My Testimony
Just here to say that I understand and appreciate the time and effort that goes into a video like this. Lots of work! Super useful resource for so many stomp users.
God Bless!
Thank you for the kind words! Indeed that is my goal, for it to be a resource. It does help I’m having fun so it doesn’t feel like work haha.
Ive had my HX Stomp for over a year but any video I always find something helpful so here I am!!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope something here is useful for you.
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar I always found something helpful in your videos!! Blessings from Mexico
I just purchased the Line6 HX Stomp. Today actually :) And this guide is just what i need. Thank you so much :)
You're welcome, and welcome to the wonderful world of the HX Stomp! Thanks for stopping by my content!
It's a great video for beginners. I have made my first preset from scratch in 10 minutes. You are very clear and explain very complex things in a simple and logical manner. I will watch this space I am sure I will learn more from your videos.
Thank you for the kind words! And congrats on making a preset from scratch! It’s a wonderful world of tonal exploration awaiting you. I’m thankful that Line 6 updates quite frequently, there are so many things to explore on the device!
Killer vid man. Super easy to follow. Appreciate the time you put in!
Thank you for the kind words! My aim is for folks to jump right in, and I hope that was achieved.
What a great resource. I just purchased a Stomp XL a week ago so this came in really handy. Thanks!
Right on! I hope the information comes in useful for you. Happy tweaking!
This is pretty much what my board looks like now. The HX Stomp, a volume/expression pedal and most recently a two button foot switch. I've been playing thr same snapshots for a year and really needed this to go in and unlock its full potential.
And that's all you really need! Keep on keeping on!
Fantastic video Justin! 😁
Thank you for the kind words! I hope it was helpful in some way.
Very cool I’ve been interested in getting one!
Thanks! Go get it! You won't regret it, it's a very versatile tool!
very nice video and amazing sound . so simple and clear.
you dont need more than that. I was looking for instruction how to utilize additional footswitches. Well done video and keep it going :)¨
I’m glad the video is helpful! Thank you for the kind words. And may your ministry be blessed!
Excellent video and introduction to the HX Stomp. I've had one for 2.75 years, and it's great. Here is one very specific tip, if you find the sound of the Presets too bright or harsh. Before adjusting any other parameters/settings, go to the Cab Block and turn down the High Cut to about 5kz. This is the nornal high "frequency response" for most Guitar Speakers. You can easily find this information on the Web. Getting this setting to match the real analog speaker made dialing in much easier for me, as the other Stock Settings are pretty good.
Thanks for the tip! I’ve been finding that some of the upper airiness (that live sound) gets muffled when I bring it down to the “textbook” setting for cabs, which is why I leave it at 9-11kHz.
Do you sell any set of your presets?
Hi! I sell them as packs fitting different purposes. My Hillsong and Bethel packs are better suited for people having a Helix or Helix LT, while the HX Stomp pack has many different applications: all-in-one, dual amps in a pedalboard, etc.
Thanks for this very useful vid mate, im gonna rock this bad boy and slam out my EP ASAP... Beltin.
I’m glad it’s useful! Go for it! May the creativity unlock as you play through the stomp. The fastest I ever crystallised a song was 8 hours. I just sat there swapping effects and amp tones to layer the different tracks.
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar It’s an amazing bit of kit and I’m sure it may take me more than 8 hour’s 🤣 ✌️
Wonderful and informative VID on the Stomp. I'm sorry to say I have added my disappointment on Stomp info for beginers on many Stomp VIDs.
The only thing missing is how to save this patch to your presets. Did I miss it.
Great job on making a patch. Would love your thought on the global settings.
Thanks SO MUCH!!!
Thank you for the kind words! I missed out saving the preset, which is to select a blank slot, and save (regularly! You never know if something will happen). Right click a slot and you have the option of exporting it as a preset, or importing a preset on your computer to overwrite it.
What about global settings would you like to know?
Iam going to buy this one soon.
You won’t be disappointed!
Thanks for the video! I couldn't find the video where you breakdown your portable rig with the expression pedal and two way switch. Can you please link it?
You're welcome! I'm not sure which one that is, I think I've covered the setup a few times (with my operational preferences changing every now and then). Is it this one? ua-cam.com/video/yULEduunalM/v-deo.html
Love your instruction and playing Vids. Do you have a corresponding video for the Stomp XL. I'm so confused about this device that I cannot apply these coments and instruction to my XL. Or can you point to a Vid already done. A big thanks...
Thank you for the kind words! That's my final frontier, it's the only device I don't have. Alex Price has a decent one out with this video, and he goes through his recommended global settings in the middle of the video: ua-cam.com/video/VR64Id54mZA/v-deo.html
Thanks for the video, so how can u hook the extra 2 button switch & expression pedal all to HX Stomp? Or r u doing that just 1 at a time? Either expression pedal or using the 2 button switch
Thanks for watching! You’ll only be able to choose one, either the 2 button switch or the expression pedal. I’m using the DVP mini as a volume pedal and not for expression.
Can you speak to why certain effects are in front of the amp and others at after it?
It will depend on what sound you need for the session. In short, mod and wet effects crunching up before the amp is a certain tone and vibe, but there is a loss of clarity. If you want pristine-sounding effects, place them after the amp.
Mic might be a little far back for my taste but some nice tones!
I'm still learning! Definitely going to improve my audio workflow. Thank you for the kind words!
Is it possible to add an external reverb/delay pedal so that when I change presets on the HX stomp, I can still get preset spillover? Or will there always be an inevitable moment of silence when changing a preset because the external reverb/delay would be in the effects loop in line with the amp model of that preset?
If the reverbs and delays are in the FX loop, changing presets will also have that “gap of silence”, unfortunately. You’ll need the reverb and delay completely external from the HX Stomp, wired before or after it, not in the loop.
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar ah I see. So there is no way to avoid the gap in sound when it comes to HX stomp?
If you're changing presets, no. But if you're using Snapshots, that won't introduce a gap.
Can you attach a pedal AND the extra switches? I don’t see how to do that.
You could, but only one switch will work, while the expression pedal, if it has a click switch, won’t work. We’re limited by the TRS connection which allows for two assignments maximum.
What is the type of Reverb on the 7th spot and what parameters are you using? 😅
It’s the Glitz reverb, a modulated reverb that can blend in a chorus signal. I usually tune it to be brighter by applying quite an aggressive low cut (cranked all the way to 500Hz). My modulation isn’t a whole lot either, with the rate low and the mod mix less than 40%.
@@AllAboutWorshipGuitar sweet! I will add this as well. Thanks!
how did you control the volume swell?
I have a Dunlop DVP mini volume pedal set up before the HX Stomp input. I'm not using it as an expression pedal, but for volume.
How did you connect footswitch and exp pedal at the same time?
Hi! I didn’t, the volume pedal is wired before the HX Stomp, and the footswitch is wired TRS to the EXP input.
@AllAboutWorshipGuitar with this setup, it means the vol pedal is operating as a single function mode? Can I reconfirm that if I want to assign functions to vol pedal + dual footswitch, I'll need to setup with a Y-TRS cable (tip/ring)?
Yup, the pedal is functioning as volume and not expression. If you use the Y-TRS cable to connect both a 2-button switch and an expression pedal, you can get expression and one of the 2-buttons to work (not sure which one, but Hey Worship Leader did a video on this).
