Dear Barbara, I'm so sorry you are feeling down about UA-cam and your channel right now. I respectfully disagree, however, that UA-cam channels (from creatives like ourselves) are dying. This year again, both the user base and the creator base on this platform have grown tremendously. This means there is still a big demand for great content, but it also means there is more competition among those creating UA-cam videos to produce content that is engaging and worth watching. What worked on UA-cam two years ago has changed. Creators need to adapt to continue to see growth.I will send you an email with some resources that can help to assess your channel, what's working, and where you may think to explore next to see the kind of growth you'd like to see. I hope you keep creating! Your videos are so helpful and inspiring.

I think many people do not understand community. And what that means in utube language. I see lots of folks here that watch but stay in the background. Even many creators do not understand real community. They too stay in their own bubble-like a click. And their content is meaningful and excellent and put together intellectually. People do not like to be told what to do, that is a challenge to overcome too. Just giving a newbie and thinking. I like to watch true crime and the creators are popular and recognize each other. only just my thoughts.

Dont know if it's just me, but I always seem to get videos from my subscriptions, never seem to miss any. I do always give a like but dont always comment. I wish youtube would stop with the algorithms, it seems to be destroying everyones vibe. Hope you stay, as I love your videos and I thank you for sharing your art with us. ❤

Just know it isn't just you. A few years ago, I shut my channel down for this very same reason. You Tube does not play nice!! It only showed the bigger channels and mine was constantly being buried. I went over this situation with my community, but they didn't take it to heart TO ENGAGE!! Now, a few years later, they are all coming back to me and saying, We miss you! Come back!" Its too late... You have to support the people you watch, before they are gone. xo

I am subscribed to more channels than I can watch with frequency. It's rare that I neglect to hit the thumbs up button as I watch videos. You are not the only creator who has made this plea. IMO, UA-cam is at fault for causing this to be a problem. Algorithms and AI can only go so far.

I subscriibed to your channel years ago, very early on, but my interests have since changed. I haven't made journals or, indeed watched your videos or that of other journallers I'm subscribed to in maybe 2 years. Because my interests have changed! So theres that too. Peoples' interests change. Your title here invited my comment. Maybe there are others like me who have moved on to other artistic or creative outlets.
Agreed. I am subscribed to lots of channels, and I go through phases of watching videos about creative stuff, videos about language learning, videos about health and exercise or whatever topic I am into at one given moment. So I don’t watch a subscription by default unless their video particularly peeks my interest at that point in time. I think this happens with most people so it’s important for a channel to keep their content fresh. What I think is also important is for a channel to continually improve the quality of their video production, and sadly many crafting channels underestimate the importance of this especially now.
@@plan4life my use of UA-cam centers on learning from artists. I've saved a few exercise videos, and I dip in and out of US politics ( I'm English but I've lived in the US), but my main interest is art. I also think a time will come when even that interest will change. The tendency within the crafting and art communities giving tutorials, showing their process on video, is often now to get people to sign up to their patreon accounts to make money. So content is directed to that. Shorts for instance. Their focus changes when their aim becomes making money. A viewer could spend a fortune subscribing to the many crafters and artists they follow! So I watch to learn, and move on when Patreon becomes their main objective. I think people with channels on YT need to understand that most of us will develop new interests and move on. And most of us won't sign up to their Patreon whatever they offer! That's what's really dying. The money is drying up.
@@margaretpinsent6388 You have certainly hit the nail on the head there! In lots of ways I miss the very old UA-cam where people used to make videos purely for the love and fun of doing so. Now it’s very competitive and all about the money because people are earning their income through UA-cam, if not directly then from Patreon, Etsy or whatever side hustle they have going on. The consequence being that their focus shifts from doing what actually brings them and others joy to being about holding desperately on to their viewers, begging for likes, and blaming it all on the algorithm. Their desperation is very transparent. It’s not easy getting views on UA-cam anymore, but instead of focusing on how they can produce better and higher quality content, they throw their hands up in the air and cry that it’s not working anymore. Some of these smaller channels are going to die and that is really really sad, but it’s a dog eat dog world unfortunately. They need to change, not their viewers.

Hi Barbara! I’ve heard a couple other people mention this. It would be devastating to me for the junk journaling community to fall! I truly rely on the inspiration! I lost my husband a year ago and with him went my creativity. I have a very hard time concentrating and coming up with ideas. I pray I can do better eventually but the one year anniversary is just a few days away and I’m suffering beyond imagination. Maybe then I can pull myself back together. But I need each of you to keep me making!🫶🏼

Yours was one of the first channels I started watching for junk journals. My YT obsession began during the pandemic. My husband who’s not at all creative but supports me 100%, even remembers you/your voice although I e watched many others that he must have heard at least. I recall him saying how great your English is living in Vienna… he meant it as utmost compliment. Like someone else said, yours are not coming to my feed lately. Even if I don’t make elaborate projects like yours, I always hit thumbs up bcoz of your creativity, time taken to make videos. I do that for every video of other creators too hoping it helps them. I had no idea about your health challenge, wishing you the very best! In fact I always envied that you were walking 10K and logging daily, I tried to be inspired by that. The algorithm changes almost monthly. It is hard to keep making content. I know it sounds crazy but I tell my hubby that I'm gonna check on my friend Barbara on YT each week. He thinks of you and a handful of others as my friends. I work from home and seldom leave. So I always watch to the end. Someday I hope to go to Austria and see the beauty you've shown us.

This what I noticed! Several months ago, you made a change on when and what you were creating on your channel. (I love your creativity brain) I noticed a change in you showing up on my list. 49dragonflies was missing. You were my number 1 for the last 2 years. I love your old videos. I watch you on my cell phone and my TV. Could the change in the days you upload mess with the views? I will put you on an all day view while I am working in my studio. And I sell most of my junk journals. Word of mouth and fairs. Yes, I LOVE making junk journals- and I make one for myself as needed. Again, go back to the that change you made. I have a feeling it could be a part of the algorithm change.
I noticed the same thing...before the changed schedule I had notifications every morning there was a video but now somehow I dont get any notifications. Though I try to watch every single video

Hi Barbara! I've been a subscriber for many years but haven't commented for a while. I've heard the same from many creators in the crafting and coloring communities. The views are down, as well as the likes and comments. Yes the algorithm is part of the problem, but I believe we contribute to the problem because of the way we are viewing videos now. Over the last year I realised that since I started watching videos mostly on a smart tv, I wasn't commenting much. At first I didn't even know where to click to get the like button. And the fact that I needed to get on my PC to comment, because it was to complicated with my old smart phone, didn't help. I have a new phone now, so I make an effort to engage with the videos more. Although I don't always comment right after watching... I decided to let the video play a second time while I'm commenting, hoping it will help your channel with the algorithm. I personnaly don't make junk journals (yet), but love watching creators like you make them. Although I watch so many different types of videos (art journal, mixed media, coloring, etc.) that I can't watch every video that comes out. What I hate about the algorithm is that if I skip one of your videos a few times then YT stops showing them to me, even with notifications on. I mean on my PC I can access the notifications easy, but not on the tv. The tv app needs to get better in order to help creators, and to help us find you! Sorry for the long message, I just had that on my mind for a while and wanted to share. I do hope things get better for you and all of my favorite creators. Barbara, your channel is the one I look for daily or whenever I see a new video listed. Maybe I am biased, but you are my favourite junk journaler because you are so different from the other hundreds that are on UA-cam, who basically do the same thing everyone else does. I've seen most of them, but you are the one I always go to because you are so talented and uniquely artistic. I love your thought processes and can learn so much from you. As long as you have a channel, I will be there watching. (Are you still watching Korean dramas?)
I’m a senior who’s relatively new to this art form. First and foremost I have limited funds to craft. Sometimes projects require supplies I just can’t afford to accumulate and then use only occasionally. Inks, sprays, stencils, die cut machines etc. I tend to gravitate toward channels that are creative with fewer supplies that are needed. Sometimes a carrot of free digitals or a collaboration is a draw. I do appreciate your immense creativity and certainly will try to be more supportive. I watch channels sometimes just for the entertainment value and will never try to create the project. You’re right about the community that I’m privileged to be a part of as a spectator. Keep showing us your creative ideas and best of luck! 😊

I hate the algorithm because it’s self replicating in a particular subject matter. Hi Barbara--Allow me to share why I engage minimally with UA-cam channels. Not everyone shares these opinions, and that's fine. These are just MY feelings, right or wrong: 1) Someone is always trying to sell me something. Once channels grow and start attracting sponsors, it becomes nothing but sell, sell, sell. I have unsubscribed to dozens of channels over the years that I would otherwise watch if they weren't always trying to get me to buy something. I pay UA-cam premium so I can avoid ads. I hate them. So imagine my dismay when the creators that I like start pushing products on me! Can't stand it, so I log off, permanently. 2) I don't want to be the reason why someone makes a living. For those who argue that they "sell" products to their subscribers because that is how they earn a living--fine. Do that. But that doesn't mean I HAVE TO watch. I want a creator who is doing what they do for the love and fun of it, especially when it comes to matters of creativity. I do not want to watch creators whose main focus is earning money. I deal with that in real life every day, thank you very much. I come here for fun, not to be sold to. I'm sure there are plenty of other folks who will help you earn money, but other than getting my view, count me out. 3) Creators change when it's all about money. Once money becomes the sun that creators revolve around, things change. As I write this, I am reminded of a specific creator that I once watched religiously. Once she quit her regular job and started doing UA-cam full time, I noticed the difference. It was all about products. It was all about what she could get her audience to buy. Her content changed, and I lost interest. Sadly, I stopped watching. She is a nice girl, lovely personality, but her change in content and her push to make a living from UA-cam was a turn off for me. So I tuned out. It's that simple. Maybe this comment will help your algorhythm, Barbara, but it's not something I do often. I don't speak. I act. And sometimes that means just not engaging at all.
I understand where your coming from. I worked in the medical community so sales and self- support and tech were different languages to me.I do understand community. As Part of the community who enjoys watching art content, I have a few questions for you. 1. If an artist talks about where to buy their digitals or art work, then you cancel them? 2. do you think, having their shop listed in their profile is enough? 3. If an artist uses a piece of art they created in a project, then no mention of where folks can purchase the art is allowed in your standards? Which content do you best, reels, videos or lives? I purchased the premium, I still see lots of sponsor adds from folks like from big people like mel robbins. anyway, i really want to know your answers. Thank you
Barbara, first I want to wish you a very happy birthday and then I want to tell you that I relate to your comments about birthdays! I am very aware that the years are flying by and we need to be present each day and accept ourselves even if we strive for change. You have been a real blessing to me, you have inspired me with your art, your wisdom, your giggles and your determination and I never miss a video. UA-cam is becoming more and more difficult to deal with for creators, of many types of content, demonetizing for no valid reason and using an unfair method of evaluating loyalty. They seem to only accept or value creators as long as they are rising which is difficult given the number of art-related creators out there. Very sad, but, know that you are valued and loved!💕🇨🇦

I'm making 2 separate comments simply because they're unrelated... & I'm long-winded.😁 I totally relate to the lack of confidence in body type, shape, size, etc. Society puts too many unrealistic expectations on us. Not only women, tho more so, but men too. Even at my healthiest medically "standard" weight for my height, I still lacked confidence & felt awkward in my own skin. I care less now at 60yo. But it's still an issue for me as an older, disabled "white lady". I have to share a realization I came to about 20 or 25yrs ago, when I became aware of the strength & confidence in women of color. Especially black woman. I'm sure some have self esteem or confidence issues, like many of us. But as I paid attention, I recognized that the majority of black women I met or encountered just exuded a confidence with their bodies that I so admired. No matter their size, shape, age, they wear bright, beautiful colors which draw attention. They appear unafraid to wear that tight dress THEY adore. They don whatever jewelry they love. They own their hair. They own their bodies. And they OWN their confidence. They just ROCK IT!! And it's beautiful!💖 I have been so inspired and have followed their lead of "eff it!" I'm gonna be proud, happy, and stunning in my own skin. I'm gonna dress, wear & BE whatever I choose... whatever I want. Whether it's pink or purple hair, heavy eyeliner, or no makeup at all. I'm gonna BE me FOR me.😉 I'm so grateful to WOC and their expressions of confidence & courage helping me to find mine.💗 And I'm super proud of you too, Barbara, for having the courage & confidence to do the same!👍 💗💗💗

I agree that it's nothing to do with the content. From my perspective, its just that there are so many great creators sharing their skills on here, I just can't keep up with watching something from everyone. At times I watch some more than others. There was a while where I watched a new video every day at least, from several channels. But then I never got on with my own projects - we all know the 'oh, shiny' syndrome of a new technique or project! So I have had to pull back. So rather than the content not being 'worth' watching, it's simply that there is so much good stuff out there, including this beautiful community.
Interesting topic. I try to like all videos that I watch, in order to give something back. Commenting OTOH is something that I do rarely. This is not directed at you at all, but just generally I feel frustrated when comments are not even acknowledged with a „like“ by creators. I totally understand that they cannot reply to every comment. That would be too time-consuming. But as a regular watcher (and part of a community) I like to feel acknowledged and „seen“. Again - this is not a criticism I am levelling at you. I think you are actually one of the creators who make a great effort to keep viewers engaged. Hopefully you can get the algorithm work in your favour again. You deserve that!

I love that you don't use subscription papers I have to pay to download and use. You give me great inspiration to make art, in whatever junk journal form I chose.
I am a fairly new content creator and have a small subscription base here on UA-cam. I have poured through the analytics side of UA-cam because I love to learn the. behind the scenes data driven information. What I have learned is that you are 100% correct. The algorithm is driven by engagement and not just a click on the like button. I use my community tab, I go live, I engage with other creators on a regular basis. I make sure that my tags are optimized and that I use the most searched hashtags for the content that I am producing. I believe that Junk Journaling is such a specialized niche that unless the community engages with your channel on a regular basis, watches videos from start to finish, and comment on your videos then UA-cam will essentially "forget" you exists. Barbara, it makes me sad to think that all of the wonderful creators I follow are struggling to survive on UA-cam. I have noticed that I am getting so much unwanted content (such as news and sensationalism) in my feed, and I am fed up with not being allowed to choose the content I want to see. I pay for Premium UA-cam so that I can watch uninterrupted by ads and it is frustrating to have UA-cam decide for me based on algorithms rather than my own stated references. Your channel has long been one of my favorites and it would be devastating for so many if you were forced to close your channel. So many people would love to get the hundreds and thousands of followers, likes and comments you get! You are blessed! I'm confused by this video. Be grateful, we all adore you. But look at what you have, not what you don't have!
Whoa I feel like we were watching two different videos. My take on her video is that her videos are not being shown to new people (and I would argue all of subscribers considering that I haven’t seen one of her videos on my home screen for months until this one, which I assume has more engagement, and that’s why it popped up for me). I have heard other artists stating the same thing - engagement is down regardless of attempts to get eyes with catchy titles and appropriate SEOs. If people want to continue watching and learning (for free!) from this type of content, something more will need to be done, hence the plea. Personally, asking for people to say thank you with a “like” and a comment is asking very little considering the hours of free labor people put into these videos. But, to each their own…

Thank you for the explanation and how you use your planner. You Tube seems to be more interested in tv and movies and herring away from their roots and what made them a draw. When they loose all you creators to some up coming platform, they will have the regrets. I only use you tube for viewing creators.,otherwise, I wouldn't watch it.

I agree with what your saying but also take in mind that advertising so much others creator in your videos takes away your shine , what I mean is Tim holtz this and Tim holtz that and all is Tim holtz it takes away your shine. I for example I was your biggest fan but when I started seeing that it killed my interest in watching your videos. There isn’t a biggest satisfaction than seeing someone doing something incredible from scratch and with household items rather than brand name things. Don’t get me wrong Tim holtz is nice yes but not to make it into an advertisement channel for him cause in your viewers eyes all we see is you looking to get sponsored by him instead of been creative. And perfect example is in your channel! Did you get more viewers before or after these events? You be the judge of your channel. Again I love it when you come up with new ideas rather than bought! Is not worth it 😢. Another UA-camr that is been doing that is your dear friend Louise ! I use to love her channel but I saw she was doing this I stopped watching her channel with a greatest sadness in my heart because I know she is great but am not into Tim holtz even tho I purchase a lot of items I don’t agree to what is been happening in these channels. Dear Barbara, I'm so sorry you are feeling down about UA-cam and your channel right now. I respectfully disagree, however, that UA-cam channels (from creatives like ourselves) are dying. This year again, both the user base and the creator base on this platform have grown tremendously. This means there is still a big demand for great content, but it also means there is more competition among those creating UA-cam videos to produce content that is engaging and worth watching. What worked on UA-cam two years ago has changed. Creators need to adapt to continue to see growth.I will send you an email with some resources that can help to assess your channel, what's working, and where you may think to explore next to see the kind of growth you'd like to see. I think many people do not understand community. And what that means in utube language. I see lots of folks here that watch but stay in the background. Even many creators do not understand real community. They too stay in their own bubble-like a click. And their content is meaningful and excellent and put together intellectually. People do not like to be told what to do, that is a challenge to overcome too. Just giving a newbie and thinking. I like to watch true crime and the creators are popular and recognize each other. only just my thoughts.

Just know it isn't just you. A few years ago, I shut my channel down for this very same reason. You Tube does not play nice!! It only showed the bigger channels and mine was constantly being buried. I went over this situation with my community, but they didn't take it to heart TO ENGAGE!! Now, a few years later, they are all coming back to me and saying, We miss you! Come back!" Its too late... You have to support the people you watch, before they are gone. xo

I am subscribed to more channels than I can watch with frequency. It's rare that I neglect to hit the thumbs up button as I watch videos. You are not the only creator who has made this plea. IMO, UA-cam is at fault for causing this to be a problem. Algorithms and AI can only go so far.

I subscriibed to your channel years ago, very early on, but my interests have since changed. I haven't made journals or, indeed watched your videos or that of other journallers I'm subscribed to in maybe 2 years. Because my interests have changed! So theres that too. Peoples' interests change.

Agreed. I am subscribed to lots of channels, and I go through phases of watching videos about creative stuff, videos about language learning, videos about health and exercise or whatever topic I am into at one given moment. So I don’t watch a subscription by default unless their video particularly peeks my interest at that point in time. I think this happens with most people so it’s important for a channel to keep their content fresh. What I think is also important is for a channel to continually improve the quality of their video production, and sadly many crafting channels underestimate the importance of this especially now.
@@plan4life my use of UA-cam centers on learning from artists. I've saved a few exercise videos, and I dip in and out of US politics ( I'm English but I've lived in the US), but my main interest is art. I also think a time will come when even that interest will change. The tendency within the crafting and art communities giving tutorials, showing their process on video, is often now to get people to sign up to their patreon accounts to make money. So content is directed to that. Shorts for instance. Their focus changes when their aim becomes making money. A viewer could spend a fortune subscribing to the many crafters and artists they follow! So I watch to learn, and move on when Patreon becomes their main objective. I think people with channels on YT need to understand that most of us will develop new interests and move on. And most of us won't sign up to their Patreon whatever they offer! That's what's really dying. The money is drying up.
@@margaretpinsent6388 You have certainly hit the nail on the head there! In lots of ways I miss the very old UA-cam where people used to make videos purely for the love and fun of doing so. Now it’s very competitive and all about the money because people are earning their income through UA-cam, if not directly then from Patreon, Etsy or whatever side hustle they have going on. The consequence being that their focus shifts from doing what actually brings them and others joy to being about holding desperately on to their viewers, begging for likes, and blaming it all on the algorithm. Their desperation is very transparent. It’s not easy getting views on UA-cam anymore, but instead of focusing on how they can produce better and higher quality content, they throw their hands up in the air and cry that it’s not working anymore. Some of these smaller channels are going to die and that is really really sad, but it’s a dog eat dog world unfortunately. They need to change, not their viewers.

I lost my husband a year ago and with him went my creativity. I have a very hard time concentrating and coming up with ideas. I pray I can do better eventually but the one year anniversary is just a few days away and I’m suffering beyond imagination. Maybe then I can pull myself back together. Yours was one of the first channels I started watching for junk journals. My YT obsession began during the pandemic. My husband who’s not at all creative but supports me 100%, even remembers you/your voice although I e watched many others that he must have heard at least. I recall him saying how great your English is living in Vienna… he meant it as utmost compliment. Like someone else said, yours are not coming to my feed lately. Even if I don’t make elaborate projects like yours, I always hit thumbs up bcoz of your creativity, time taken to make videos. I do that for every video of other creators too hoping it helps them. The algorithm changes almost monthly. It is hard to keep making content. I know it sounds crazy but I tell my hubby that I'm gonna check on my friend Barbara on YT each week. Hi Barbara! I've been a subscriber for many years but haven't commented for a while. I've heard the same from many creators in the crafting and coloring communities. The views are down, as well as the likes and comments. Yes the algorithm is part of the problem, but I believe we contribute to the problem because of the way we are viewing videos now. Over the last year I realised that since I started watching videos mostly on a smart tv, I wasn't commenting much. At first I didn't even know where to click to get the like button. And the fact that I needed to get on my PC to comment, because it was to complicated with my old smart phone, didn't help. I have a new phone now, so I make an effort to engage with the videos more. Although I don't always comment right after watching... I decided to let the video play a second time while I'm commenting, hoping it will help your channel with the algorithm. I personnaly don't make junk journals (yet), but love watching creators like you make them. Although I watch so many different types of videos (art journal, mixed media, coloring, etc.) that I can't watch every video that comes out. What I hate about the algorithm is that if I skip one of your videos a few times then YT stops showing them to me, even with notifications on. I mean on my PC I can access the notifications easy, but not on the tv. The tv app needs to get better in order to help creators, and to help us find you! Sorry for the long message, I just had that on my mind for a while and wanted to share. I do hope things get better for you and all of my favorite creators. Maybe I am biased, but you are my favourite junk journaler because you are so different from the other hundreds that are on UA-cam, who basically do the same thing everyone else does. I’m a senior who’s relatively new to this art form. First and foremost I have limited funds to craft. Sometimes projects require supplies I just can’t afford to accumulate and then use only occasionally. Inks, sprays, stencils, die cut machines etc. I tend to gravitate toward channels that are creative with fewer supplies that are needed. Sometimes a carrot of free digitals or a collaboration is a draw. I do appreciate your immense creativity and certainly will try to be more supportive. I watch channels sometimes just for the entertainment value and will never try to create the project. You’re right about the community that I’m privileged to be a part of as a spectator. Keep showing us your creative ideas and best of luck! 😊

Hi Barbara--Allow me to share why I engage minimally with UA-cam channels. Not everyone shares these opinions, and that's fine. These are just MY feelings, right or wrong:
1) Someone is always trying to sell me something. Once channels grow and start attracting sponsors, it becomes nothing but sell, sell, sell. I have unsubscribed to dozens of channels over the years that I would otherwise watch if they weren't always trying to get me to buy something. I pay UA-cam premium so I can avoid ads. I hate them. So imagine my dismay when the creators that I like start pushing products on me! Can't stand it, so I log off, permanently.
2) I don't want to be the reason why someone makes a living. For those who argue that they "sell" products to their subscribers because that is how they earn a living--fine. Do that. But that doesn't mean I HAVE TO watch. I want a creator who is doing what they do for the love and fun of it, especially when it comes to matters of creativity. I do not want to watch creators whose main focus is earning money. I deal with that in real life every day, thank you very much. I come here for fun, not to be sold to. I'm sure there are plenty of other folks who will help you earn money, but other than getting my view, count me out.
3) Creators change when it's all about money. Once money becomes the sun that creators revolve around, things change. As I write this, I am reminded of a specific creator that I once watched religiously. Once she quit her regular job and started doing UA-cam full time, I noticed the difference. It was all about products. It was all about what she could get her audience to buy. Her content changed, and I lost interest. Sadly, I stopped watching. She is a nice girl, lovely personality, but her change in content and her push to make a living from UA-cam was a turn off for me. So I tuned out.
It's that simple.
Maybe this comment will help your algorhythm, Barbara, but it's not something I do often. I don't speak. I act. And sometimes that means just not engaging at all.

As Part of the community who enjoys watching art content, I have a few questions for you. 1. If an artist talks about where to buy their digitals or art work, then you cancel them? 2. do you think, having their shop listed in their profile is enough? 3. If an artist uses a piece of art they created in a project, then no mention of where folks can purchase the art is allowed in your standards?
Which content do you best, reels, videos or lives?

Barbara, first I want to wish you a very happy birthday and then I want to tell you that I relate to your comments about birthdays! I am very aware that the years are flying by and we need to be present each day and accept ourselves even if we strive for change. You have been a real blessing to me, you have inspired me with your art, your wisdom, your giggles and your determination and I never miss a video. UA-cam is becoming more and more difficult to deal with for creators, of many types of content, demonetizing for no valid reason and using an unfair method of evaluating loyalty. They seem to only accept or value creators as long as they are rising which is difficult given the number of art-related creators out there. Very sad, but, know that you are valued and loved!💕🇨🇦

I totally relate to the lack of confidence in body type, shape, size, etc.
Society puts too many unrealistic expectations on us. Not only women, tho more so, but men too.
Even at my healthiest medically "standard" weight for my height, I still lacked confidence & felt awkward in my own skin. I care less now at 60yo. But it's still an issue for me as an older, disabled "white lady".
I have to share a realization I came to about 20 or 25yrs ago, when I became aware of the strength & confidence in women of color. Especially black woman.
I'm sure some have self esteem or confidence issues, like many of us. But as I paid attention, I recognized that the majority of black women I met or encountered just exuded a confidence with their bodies that I so admired.
No matter their size, shape, age, they wear bright, beautiful colors which draw attention. They appear unafraid to wear that tight dress THEY adore. They don whatever jewelry they love. They own their hair. They own their bodies. And they OWN their confidence. They just ROCK IT!! And it's beautiful!💖
I have been so inspired and have followed their lead of "eff it!" I'm gonna be proud, happy, and stunning in my own skin. I'm gonna dress, wear & BE whatever I choose... whatever I want. Whether it's pink or purple hair, heavy eyeliner, or no makeup at all. I'm gonna BE me FOR me.😉

I agree that it's nothing to do with the content. From my perspective, its just that there are so many great creators sharing their skills on here, I just can't keep up with watching something from everyone. At times I watch some more than others. There was a while where I watched a new video every day at least, from several channels. But then I never got on with my own projects - we all know the 'oh, shiny' syndrome of a new technique or project! So I have had to pull back. So rather than the content not being 'worth' watching, it's simply that there is so much good stuff out there, including this beautiful community.

Interesting topic. I try to like all videos that I watch, in order to give something back. Commenting OTOH is something that I do rarely. This is not directed at you at all, but just generally I feel frustrated when comments are not even acknowledged with a „like“ by creators. I totally understand that they cannot reply to every comment. That would be too time-consuming. But as a regular watcher (and part of a community) I like to feel acknowledged and „seen“. Again - this is not a criticism I am levelling at you. I think you are actually one of the creators who make a great effort to keep viewers engaged. Hopefully you can get the algorithm work in your favour again. You deserve that!

I love that you don't use subscription papers I have to pay to download and use. You give me great inspiration to make art, in whatever junk journal form I chose.
I am a fairly new content creator and have a small subscription base here on UA-cam. I have poured through the analytics side of UA-cam because I love to learn the. behind the scenes data driven information. What I have learned is that you are 100% correct. The algorithm is driven by engagement and not just a click on the like button. I use my community tab, I go live, I engage with other creators on a regular basis. I make sure that my tags are optimized and that I use the most searched hashtags for the content that I am producing. I believe that Junk Journaling is such a specialized niche that unless the community engages with your channel on a regular basis, watches videos from start to finish, and comment on your videos then UA-cam will essentially "forget" you exists. Thank you for sharing this. I appreciate your efforts and hope nothing but growth and fulfillment for you and your channel! I will try my best to engage with your channel more because you have inspired me and I do like your content very much. Barbara, it makes me sad to think that all of the wonderful creators I follow are struggling to survive on UA-cam. I have noticed that I am getting so much unwanted content (such as news and sensationalism) in my feed, and I am fed up with not being allowed to choose the content I want to see. I pay for Premium UA-cam so that I can watch uninterrupted by ads and it is frustrating to have UA-cam decide for me based on algorithms rather than my own stated references. Your channel has long been one of my favorites and it would be devastating for so many if you were forced to close your channel. Thank you for providing so many years of inspiring content and I hope that your community will respond by flooding your comments with love and appreciation. ❤

So many people would love to get the hundreds and thousands of followers, likes and comments you get! You are blessed! I'm confused by this video. Be grateful, we all adore you. But look at what you have, not what you don't have!
Whoa I feel like we were watching two different videos. My take on her video is that her videos are not being shown to new people (and I would argue all of subscribers considering that I haven’t seen one of her videos on my home screen for months until this one, which I assume has more engagement, and that’s why it popped up for me). I have heard other artists stating the same thing - engagement is down regardless of attempts to get eyes with catchy titles and appropriate SEOs. If people want to continue watching and learning (for free!) from this type of content, something more will need to be done, hence the plea. Personally, asking for people to say thank you with a “like” and a comment is asking very little considering the hours of free labor people put into these videos. But, to each their own…
@@heatherhigbee5144 So what if only 3 people are being seen. It's on youtube if channels are dying over algorithms. UA-cam. And that's where it ends. But those with high number get seen a LOT more. I see a lot of people with 800 views who are happy to be here. You think they get the coverage that this youtuber gets? She earned it for sure but... Practice gratitude every day. It will change your life. 🙂

Thank you for the explanation and how you use your planner. You Tube seems to be more interested in tv and movies and herring away from their roots and what made them a draw. When they loose all you creators to some up coming platform, they will have the regrets. I only use you tube for viewing creators.,otherwise, I wouldn't watch it.

I hope you get to read This post and think about it for a moment I don’t mean any disrespect am only giving you my point of view. I agree with what your saying but also take in mind that advertising so much others creator in your videos takes away your shine , what I mean is Tim holtz this and Tim holtz that and all is Tim holtz it takes away your shine. I for example I was your biggest fan but when I started seeing that it killed my interest in watching your videos. There isn’t a biggest satisfaction than seeing someone doing something incredible from scratch and with household items rather than brand name things. Don’t get me wrong Tim holtz is nice yes but not to make it into an advertisement channel for him cause in your viewers eyes all we see is you looking to get sponsored by him instead of been creative. And perfect example is in your channel! Did you get more viewers before or after these events? You be the judge of your channel. Again I love it when you come up with new ideas rather than bought! Is not worth it 😢. Another UA-camr that is been doing that is your dear friend Louise ! I use to love her channel but I saw she was doing this I stopped watching her channel with a greatest sadness in my heart because I know she is great but am not into Tim holtz even tho I purchase a lot of items I don’t agree to what is been happening in these channels. All am trying to say is if you go back to been you, yourself and not Tim everything you might get your audience back ( try it) the Only thing you can lose by trying is your audience which you already been losing.
