To Margaret; I too am a paper crafter with health issues. It affects my creativity. But I continue to be encouraged by others crafters like Barbara, Thank you Barbara for the creativity and Inspiration,
I have neurocognitive disease, dementia, early stage. After 10 years, I only began crafting again. It is definitely my therapy. I'm quite obsessed. I can craft on through the nights! I get so much pleasure and satisfaction and joy from creating. But I've had to reteach myself and always, always take notes because I don't remember. But all in all, I love it. I cannot work so I have lots of time on my hands. My only problem is, I never want to stop on whatever I am working on! And I usually have 3 or 4 different projects going on at once. Talk about chaos! Especially in my head. I am so grateful for the how-to videos. And the many groups on Facebook. Its been so helpful in my endeavors. Blessings and Peace to all!
THANK YOU, sweet Barbara! It means so much to me that you addressed my cry for help! 🤭❤ I will try this asap! Your art is inspiring, Barbara.....but it's really YOU that helps!...with your kindness and your fun attitude! DEEPEST appreciation!! Margaret ❤
Loving this lady, Barbara! I also want to share one little tip with those that struggle with “what to create”, I have a small (and I really mean small, the pages are approximately 12x8 cm) journal that I collage without expectation in. What I mean is that when I don’t know what to do or how to be creative in that moment I can just pick a few scraps, stickers or washi and make a collage in this journal, some of them turns out cute, some quite ugly, but it doesn’t matter! Almost always after having done something in that small journal I feel more creative and can start on a bigger project that I actually care about. Having a place where you allow yourself to make things that doesn’t look good can be really helpful!
That is good advice. We feel so much pressure to always make something “perfect” or beautiful, that when it falls short, the sense of failure takes away from the joy of creating.
I have one piece of advice. From artist and professor Virginia Commonwealth University Jewett Campbell. He passed in 1999 age 87. " Keep your art. Put it away. Study it another day." And do not stop! Our eyes can fool us sometimes. The preconceived notion in your head is blinding your eyes from the your moment of creating. Jewett is in the MoMA collection. My husband was so blessed to have him as a his teacher. And I agree trust your blinded eye. And copying from artists has been going on since ancient times. Still popular. We are a prefect example.😊 And thank you so much Barbara. ❤
Barbara! I love, love, love when you do Pinterest inspired art. It always turns out really great! Thanks for taking us along. I can totally relate to the comment you shared with us. I am surrounded by things I have purchased and found, and yet somehow, sometimes, I feel overwhelmed and not good enough. Thank you also for sharing that with us. Have a beautiful day. ❤😊
I really appreciate how you showed this process. I get overwhelmed with so many things I want to try but don’t have the time and then I do nothing. This showed me one way to just take one thing I like and make it mine and yes, a card is doable. Thank you!
Aloha Barbara, Thanks for sharing and caring! I to have been struggling with having all the supplies but overwhelmed and uninspired to create. This message really hit home for me. TFS 🤙❤
This is wonderful! I so agree that limiting our choices for a project makes it much easier and more fun. Overthinking can definitely stop the flow of creativity. Play! ❤
Dear Barbara, I include myself in the feeling of the companions, of the burden of having accumulated little things and then not knowing what to choose or how to start, but when I think about it more carefully, I believe that the deepest enemy, at least I feel that way, is what kind of background to create for our focal point, which one might be appropriate. Once started, the next dilemma would be composition. Being guided by the rule of three is fantastic but you don't always want to do the same thing. In any case, the most important thing is to do it even if you don't like it at first. I look at your work, I try it, I do the same thing as you, it works and I like it, but when I try it for myself I get disappointed. I love mix media and grunge although I don't understand them very well, I still waste papers. Your art is impressive and I have to thank you for your effort so that all of us can bring out that creativity that we have inside and we don't know how to express it. A hug. PS: I hope google translated my feelings correctly, you know, I don't know English 🌻🌼😊😘😘💛💛
In the last 2 years, I have stepped back from buying any new junk journal supplies other than glue. I have a ton of paper from 8 yrs ago, a lot of seam binding, buttons, yarn, cording, etc. I have 9 x 18 ft craft room and I often draw my items from the garbage. What is crazy is I am finding more joy using "junk". Also, a more creative edge within me soon surfaces and THAT is what brings me joy. I am a little girl all over again; it's 1975 and I am cutting paper and gluing it together and using my crayons. 😊❤ "Maman, look what I made!!!" So much fun.
I’m a Pinterest Screenshot Artist too. Lol. I look through Pinterest and I’m amazed by all the beautiful things I see. Lately I’ve been making altered playing cards. I bought a jumbo deck. I love sanding the shine off of them and doing my version of what I see. I can do that. But I love seeing your take on their creations. It’s so inspiring, seeing how to recreate bit by bit. It’s like the question, how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Work on small areas till you’re done. Anyway, I love how this turned out!! ♥️♥️♥️
For whatever reason a lot of us currently are feeling overwhelmed. I personally overthink and have too many ideas floating around in my head. This is a great video, thx Barbara, I need to go back to simpler for a bit, at least start out simple, and see where it leads ❤❤
I love how the papers are working together, how the girl and the bird look together to the star, to the hope! I missed this Pinterest inspired series, one of my favourites!♥♥♥
Barbara, thanks for always helping all of us with solutions. I started my card making about 26 years ago. My supplies fit in a child’s shoe box. I now have a craft room full of things. Other crafters also say use what you have. Try to recreate what someone else has done by using what you have. Good luck to all the ladies who have lost their mojo and hope you all get it back. Barbara you are great at helping all of us create. TFS! ❤
Margaret you are not alone - there are several of us that relate and are in the same boat (crafters with health issues). Thank you Barbara for what you do - I appreciate you. 💙
❤ these videos touch my heart, sweetie. I love that you address these comments in such a thoughtful and loving way ❤ the page is so beautiful, and very "you", whilst you still see the inspiration. I truly hope the ladies from the 2 comments find your videos helpful ❤ 😉 Google translate says the text is Chinese by the way
Ooo, I love this! I have some lady outline stencils. I need to do this with! I can relate to Margaret. I'll did in a drawer and find something I forgot I purchased. More crafting less shopping - it must be my new motto!
I love this doll. The little quote and accompanying wonky star is ideal. I remember you drawing faces and I do think you could have drawn her but the woman with the little bird is so cute. I hope you take up drawing again because your drawings have so much more character than your pretty but a bit bland digital women. I have done something similiar in the past but you have given me an idea for my journal "Send me an Angel," which is now a working art and writing journal. Arohanui from me in Aotearoa New Zealand.
I didn't realize that I was no longer subscribed to your channel. So, I pressed that button and decided to watch a few of your videos this morning, and to comment. Love that you share so much of yourself with us. Thank you again for your videos. They are a great inspiration to me. Enjoy the day! Catherine
Barbara I love how you took the original design and made it into a different image by using different papers, adding the sentiment and the pleats in the paper and creating your own unique image. Only thing missing, your signature gold splatters😂
Barbara I love the card. So you see you can create somethings beautiful with a image, a few scraps of paper and cleu. So so beautiful. I think we all know the feeling to be overwhelmed. I heard once in a craftshop that only ten procent of the crafting people are blessed with a creative mind to come up with own ideas . The rest of use need examples to made there onw. And a lot of people need a stap by stap example to do it. And that isn't wrong. You still creating and you still belong to the crafty community. And that is amazing and unique. I wish every one a creative time without judging your self. We do what we do and that is enough. Happy weekend Simone
I copy all the time. I’m currently working on copying a journal by another you tube personality. Folks got to understand that just because something doesn’t work for you, isn’t a one size fit for all. I’m basically a beginner and I have a ton of stuff. So I’m a collector too. Labels aren’t an exact science either. One person may want to use all junk and some of those don’t believe in throwing anything away. That’s fine for them. I do what my creative self leads me to do. I don’t use a ton of recycled stuff but I do as I’m led to do so. The take-away image here is that there are no rules. If you’re not having fun anymore, maybe try a different craft?
This is a beautiful example of being inspired by the work of others. I absolutely love the way it turned out and your step by step demonstration makes it so do-able! Can’t wait to try something similar. Thank you!
My mother used to say to me because I liked gold, "Ann all that glitters is not Gold!" I thought I would send this sentiment to you since sometimes I watch you and think, I'm not sure what I think!
Margaret is sooo right about going easy about suply but i know i need to have it ALL , to try ,to play with mixing all together on my papers and canvases ..
Every video of yours that I watch becomes my new favorite! I love the way it turned out. I can't wait to try this tomorrow. I spent some time today getting journal pages together to make a journal with a paper bag cover. I've never done one with a bag cover before, but I loved the one I saw you make on a video. I'll be watching that video again tomorrow to follow your instructions on the bag cover. Barbara, you are fast becoming my favorite junk journal expert. Please don't quit making videos! I'm learning so much, and I'm having so much fun!
I made my lady in her dress today! I used the same lady with the bird from your "Feathered Friends" that you used because I loved yours so much. I wish I could add a picture of her here. I love how she turned out. I am learning from you how to make these things mine. Thank you for that. These videos are so helpful. I often overwhelm myself with too many choices and too much overthinking. Watching you and hearing you explain how you go through the process is so helpful.
I like what you read ...I had alot stuff I collect over years cuz I use for photo albums I'd add extra words n ephemera or make pics that not good I'd cut out and add a head or body from cartoon pic etc...but I also had craft items ...anyways I keep grabbing more items but most I need but getting it all organized is annoying ....lol...plus i had already collected lots then found this junk journals....lol...I get stuff made and pages etc etc and tags ...I never get the book put total done...I have signatures for some ready to go...it's finish the cover and do binding.....I have lots books planned and items for them...liil...this is too long...
So Many beautiful comments Barbara🫶 I think that’s a sign you’ve made us all happy to do this sort of video. The last few years I saw more of your video’s based on pinterest and the all turned out beter than the “ Original” one für sure! This dress is awesome😍 Thank you for inspirier again and for reading that comment..its so true..everybody has a great amount of craft supplies and uses only a few favorite items. Greetings Maia
I’m also buried with so much ephemera i keep buying, buying and buying, when i get some inspiration and make tons of items i get stuck!!!! I like when you show where to put it in our journals Maybe you can have a pile of ephemera and show us one more time where to put it!!!, the process you use to combat the dreaded, I’ve made this pile of ephemera now WHAT? Thank you Barbara❤😂
How beautiful! I love when you do the Pinterest inspired art. It’s is so inspirational and leaves me feeling like i might actually be able to that! Hugs 🤗❤️
I have to say, I have felt the same. Very over whelmed at times. When I watch videos I don’t focus on the product you are using I focus on the technique!!! How can I apply these techniques with the basic. Paper, scissors., etc. it has helped tremendously… the more you play the better you get and, before you know it you the training wheels come off. At some point you have to stop comparing yourself to others. Again your work is never going to be exactly like someone else’s. If you don’t make it fun. It will never be fun.
@margaretcomella3318 - I could not agree with you more about what you wrote about junk journaling. I started it as a way to use up the bits left over from my scrapbooking that I did not want to throw away and a place to put fun things I did not want to throw away like clothing tabs, fun receipts, etc. Now it is all "buy, buy, buy" and hauls and it is too much! I myself started to take a look at everything I have "on hand" and was mortified by my own consumerism. I decided that I needed to decrease my supplies by A LOT and started with the paper, turning them into basic non fancy cards that i can donate to the groups that collect them for nurses, troops, etc. I want to turn my mistake of buying too much into a pay it forward and get back to things being simple and not shopping and being overwhelmed. Another thing I started doing was taking half used things that are in good shape and donating them to preschools, elementary schools, or craft reuse centers to reduce the amount of things I have. They are always overjoyed to have them and by lightening my load it in turn fills my heart. Perhaps these can be a few ideas for you to help declutter some of the items you have as well to help quiet that part of your brain that sees all the stuff and prevents your creativity. And THANK YOU Barbra for all you do for us the viewers. For taking the time to show us your beautiful work. To teach us how to do different creative things. For providing a bright spot in all our days. (cheers & blessings - Tami / USA)
I have a fashion design book with a lot of lady shapes. Maybe I could make a bunch of these with my tiny scraps and use them for tags! Or corner embellishments? They look adorable & easy!
I found this video really helpful. I think the way you did it really helped me to understand the approach to something like this and I loved your result. I feel inspired to try. I too have an idea's file on my computer with lots of images that I tell myself I will do 'one day' . I'd love to see more of this type of video. Thanks for sharing Barbara.
Barbara you’re beyond brilliant as an artist. I love this idea. I love the sentiment. So I have to go type another note and send to you. This was such an important video to me and I’ve been doing so since 2017. Slow learner here until I learned about home made journals and have switched paths. Love you much 🤗Hugs, 💖Love, 🦋Butterfly Blessings sent your way, always.🤗💖🦋
@@49dragonflies I’m glad you understood that! 🤣😂 I think I must have been combining two thoughts, in one sentence, and only got half of each! Well, you understood the important parts. 🤣💖
Thank you so much for this inspiration. I am going to try this. I have a fashion design book with the croquis outlines already on the paper. I am really bad at drawing people, i get the proportions all wrong but I like drawing dresses and outfits. I want to try to use a croquis outline or two as the ones I have are from different sides and poses , and try them one of my journal pages and make her an outfit and hair with some of my jouranalling paper and ephemera.
Dear Barbara, I really enjoy your Pinterest Inspired videos because it gives me a clear direction to go in on days that I just can't come up with an idea of my own. I've been going through a bad spell emotionally so I'm trying to create something every day to build up muscle memory and keep the creative juices flowing, even if I just make a few inky backgrounds for journaling cards or tags. Some days that is all I can muster... but now that you've given me the idea to recreate Pinterest pages I am finding it much easier... And I've even started following the DEPHEMEREMBER prompts (which I've been reluctant to do for some reason 🤔). Thanks for constantly giving me the inspiration to be creative even on days that I'd rather stay in bed and hide from the world. ❤
I too go to others like Pinterest to get inspired. I don’t think there is anything wrong with copying others. It helps me get back into creating especially when I’m going through a dry spell of lost mojo. Thank you so much, I truly enjoy watching you. You ARE one of my most inspirational people to watch.
This was a great video. Thank you so very much for making this video Barbara🥰👏 I can relate to. I wish that Margaret’s comment could be shared in the desemberember (not even going to try typing that word right😂) thank you dear friend for sharing ❤️❤️❤️ and I started reading “a court of thorns and roses” book yesterday 😄 lots of love from arctic Norway 🌼🌸🌺☘️🤪
Love this, so sweet! Grateful that you for keep reminding yourself and us :) to not over-think things, we have to trust our creativity as it flows right?
I often ask myself; Am I a participator or a spectator.? I look at the supplies I've purchased and yet realize that I've made things for my home out of the supplies. My craft room is overwhelming for no more space than I have. Ironically I've used some tips and tricks in my appointment books and calendars. People laugh at me because I do have a mini supply pouch in my purse for attaching different things.
To Margaret; I too am a paper crafter with health issues. It affects my creativity. But I continue to be encouraged by others crafters like Barbara, Thank you Barbara for the creativity and Inspiration,
Me too, I think a lot of us use craft as therapy. The amazing community on here was a massive unexpected bonus😁
Your art is inspiring, Barbara.....but it's really YOU that helps!...with your kindness and your fun attitude!
DEEPEST appreciation!! Margaret ❤
You are so welcome, dear Margaret! I hope this video inspires you! ❤️
Loving this lady, Barbara!

Such great advice! Thank you.💗
That is good advice.
We are a prefect example.😊
And thank you so much Barbara. ❤

Friendly reminder people, this is a hobby it's supposed to be fun, if it's causing you stress and anxiety it's OK to just change hobbies.
Love her dress. The pleats are the perfect touch.
Aloha Barbara, Thanks for sharing and caring! I to have been struggling with having all the supplies but overwhelmed and uninspired to create. This message really hit home for me. TFS 🤙❤
I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling with all the same issues. It really hit home for me also.
23:39 anything wonky is always (absolutely always) better than anything fabricated… totally 😊
This is wonderful! I so agree that limiting our choices for a project makes it much easier and more fun. Overthinking can definitely stop the flow of creativity. Play! ❤
I like your version of the dress better. Perfect with bird, sentiment and wonky star. 😊
Thank you! 😊
I love how this turned out. Your intro about being stuck and having so many supplies applies to most of us!

What a lovely interpretation of someone else's project. It doesn't seem to be the same as copying because you reference the idea and make it your own.

I copy all the time. I’m currently working on copying a journal by another you tube personality.
Folks got to understand that just because something doesn’t work for you, isn’t a one size fit for all. I’m basically a beginner and I have a ton of stuff. So I’m a collector too. The take-away image here is that there are no rules. If you’re not having fun anymore, maybe try a different craft?
Oh, WOW...reminds me of my paper doll days.😊
This a lovely concept. Quick, easy very creative! Thx so much for sharing!
Lovely! She is soooo cute. She looks like a christmas angel ❤
This is a beautiful example of being inspired by the work of others. I absolutely love the way it turned out and your step by step demonstration makes it so do-able! Can’t wait to try something similar. Thank you!
Really beautiful. It's always interesting to see where you take inspiration from and how you put your own twist on it. Thank you!
My mother used to say to me because I liked gold, "Ann all that glitters is not Gold!" I thought I would send this sentiment to you since sometimes I watch you and think, I'm not sure what I think!
It amazes me the beautiful things you create with very basic things. I love it ❤❤
I really had my doubts but absolutely love how this turned out. Thank you.
I remember you doing a few projects like this a few years ago. Very beautiful- I’m was so sure you were going to add gold splatters!
And there we have our Barbara magic! It's awesome! Love it!❤
Aaaaw thank you! ❤️☺️
Margaret is sooo right about going easy about suply but i know i need to have it ALL , to try ,to play with mixing all together on my papers and canvases ..
Every video of yours that I watch becomes my new favorite! I love the way it turned out. I can't wait to try this tomorrow. Hope this video helped the lady who is stuck. I like this simple page!!😊
Barbara, this turned out so cute. I need to try to recreate something similar. So cute.
Are you in Canada? I joined Junk Journal Junkies Canada and we exchange ephemera and stuff all the time, maybe you will find that is your calling too.
You make my day you really do. Xxx
This was very enlightening to copy something and have it be so individual.
This cemented my desire to do this one and the whimsical lovebirds I saw last night done in a similar paper collage fashion. Thx.
I love it! You made it your own and it look amazing. You make everything look so easy. Your star came out great. Thank you for another great video. 🤗🤗
How beautiful! I love when you do the Pinterest inspired art. It’s is so inspirational and leaves me feeling like i might actually be able to that! Hugs 🤗❤️
You can do it! 👍🏻😊❤️
I love it Barbara I love paper dolls and this has given me another idea to make another paper doll you really inspired me thanks for sharing 💕
I'm so glad! ☺️
Right! My work seldom looks like the presenter's, but I usually like the result of my interpretation.
I think this is a big favorite for me. Love this concept.
Very beautiful gorgeous page I ❤️ it 🌹
Loved the combination of papers you used..Plus the general pattern..Very inspiring..Gracias..
Danke liebe Petra! ❤️
Die Dame ist toll geworden. Ich denke, ich versuche das mal nachzumachen. Schöne Idee, danke dafür!
Gerne und viel Vergnügen! 🥰
What a perfect little project! ❤❤❤❤
Agree! Soo overwhelmed and too much clutter and it seems I cant stop buying the new things on the market 🙄
All you've said here is beautiful.💗 I appreciate you sharing it...and the reminder to "pay it forward".
Blessings.💚💚💚
Another place to donate to is nursing homes or community senior centers.
I have a fashion design book with a lot of lady shapes. Maybe I could make a bunch of these with my tiny scraps and use them for tags! Or corner embellishments? They look adorable & easy!
Go for it! 👍🏻😊❤️
She turned out beautiful Barbara! Thanks for sharing with us!
I love this project, it’s just what I need to get back into the flow since returning from Spain!💕🇨🇦

Oh yes! 😃❤️
I know your intent was not to sell the printables but I immediately bought! 😂
Aaaaw thank you! ❤️
Absolutely stunning
Absolutely love her. Beautiful job❤
Thank you so much! ❤️
Wonderful! Have fun! 😊
TFS. I'm off to create
LoVe how you care about your subbies and what cool creations you came up with
I love this project! ❤
Great fun
This was an awesome project. TFS
Thank you for your kind words, Swan 😘. Crafting is true therapy and I hope it continues to heal your soul ❤️
Great job ! Love it!
I too go to others like Pinterest to get inspired. I don’t think there is anything wrong with copying others. It helps me get back into creating especially when I’m going through a dry spell of lost mojo. Thank you so much, I truly enjoy watching you. You ARE one of my most inspirational people to watch.
Aaaaw thank you! ❤️
This came out great 😊
Beautiful!
This was so cool!
Absolutely love this Barbara, you've given me inspiration for my weekly art journal page.
Wonderful! 😊
Thank you! I hope you enjoy the series! Ty can skip book 4 (the thin one), totally useless…. ❤️
I neverwould have thought to use pinterest as inspiration. Thanks.
OMG, I love this! ❤
Beautiful! Great inspiration. Thank you.
Love this, so sweet! Grateful that you for keep reminding yourself and us :) to not over-think things, we have to trust our creativity as it flows right?
Such a great project for my hoo doos!😊
Very cool!
