I was so happy to hear you say you did absolutely no housework while you were creating!!! At last, someone else who would prefer to play in the craft room! I'm sure my friends think I'm mad making "things" that don't actually have any useful purpose, but it gives me so much pleasure. Thanks for your wonderful videos, I find them so easy to follow.🙂🙂

This had to be my most favorite episode! I am extremely guilty of loving the hunt of ephemera and discarded craft supplies at yard sales, estate sales, thrift stores etc. I love that you don't use printable ephemera! That is my goal! Then your creation is truly original! You must be exhausted since the explosion! Lol! Rest up, we need you back next week, Natasha!

@@iamdawt I think we need to have that mindset more often when creating, at least I know I do. Not everything we make has to have a name like a “tag” or a “pocket.” And not everything has to serve a function or purpose. We create because we love what we do, it brings us joy & happiness, so why is so hard for us to just create something that serves the purpose of just “being”? Just being because it brings joy or creating something because it’s pretty to look at or it’s shiny and makes us smile. Lol.

"Nothing spectacular"? Darling, this statement of yours tells more about you than anything else. These ARE spectacular! To think you took scraps that anyone outside the junk journaling world would have sent to the landfill and made this explosion of beauty is just amazing. You have given me so many ideas. I don't think the Muse visited you - I think you ARE the Muse!

Natasha you speak to me. I don’t use digitals either. I don’t have a printer and to get the digitals printed at a shop is not cost effective. You were my first journaling channel and I started journal making because of you. You made me look at objects in a whole new way. I think you’re the only journal maker that really uses “junk” to make junk journals. Love your channel. ❤

You have me pegged for the WHOLE Junk journal journey!
My daughter gave me a junk journal kit 2 years ago. I have binged watched your tutorials and have gone CrAzY hitting thrift shops. I have always loved to find treasures before, but I see things in a whole new way! I see ALL these cool things and nab them up! Now I'm in the process of being overwhelmed and trying to come up with ways to organize them, so I can find what I'm looking for!
Plus like you, I get completely engrossed in projects, everything else goes to pot!
Thanks for all you share and encouraging us to use what we have.
I can't say I have a favorite, because it seems there is a purpose for all your items that will come around on a certain project.

I love making ‘things’ honestly sometimes it really is the process of making the thing that has literally no use to anyone that’s the point and then sometimes I throw it in a box and it stays there until I declutter again then I might add to it. This was fabulous! You can't inspire us any more than you already do, Natasha! I don't know what you are going to do with all these creations, but I have a couple of suggestions.
    1. Have a local mail swap, except instead of you receiving a bag of goodies, they can send a thank you card. Take a quart size bag and put in enough of the ephemera to reach 1,2,3 or 4 etc postage stamps. People can send you the money for the postage and their address, and you can send them a random bag of goodies equal to the amount postage they send. I guarantee you people will swoop in and take care of business in no time!
If that seems like too much trouble,
    2. Call around to women's clinics, women's shelters, cancer and other disease prevention centers, etc and let them know you have happy mail you'd like to send to the women there (patients. Doctors, nurses) and package them up and either deliver or mail them. Our Fodder School has been doing that with things they've made in Fodder School and it's been well received.

I totally agree about upcycling books. Our local library has a warehouse where they take all the unwanted books that people donate to the library and/or books that need to be cleared off their shelves to make room for new ones coming in. Once a year the library has a huge book sale at the library and what's left goes to the warehouse. There are literally SHELVES upon SHELVES of gorgeous books of every size and genre that you can imagine in this warehouse. Since I am an Analog Collage Artist... well, I am like a kid in a candy shop... the books (no matter the size) are only $.25 each! So, other Artists & Creators might want to check that out in their local library.
So, YES... we are salvaging them before they are burned or trashed. What a waste of TREES!
All of your videos where you upcycle things is SO IMPORTANT! Less waste, free materials, and unlimited creative possibilities! I have a good imagination, but YOURS... well, is ASTOUNDING!
Keep doing what you're doing because it's IMPORTANT on many levels!
    MUCH Love & RESPECT... Deborah

Natasa! I'm so glad you decided to honor those gorgeous children's books illustrations! Otherwise they would molder away in obscurity! Don't feel bad about it. 🥰
P.S. I love the little encore at the end! 😂

Yes pleaase - I would love to see a tutorial on your vinyle journal - the one with the painted flowers on. I also stand in solidarity with you on the decluttering - I know that I have a lot of stuff - so much that I forget what I have sometimes, but going through it with a view to use it or lose it sparks ideas, in the end I think it's great that you used the things, it just as good a buzz as decluttering because you are transforming them into something artful and useful.

You struck a chord with what you said about how you bought things in the early days of your crafting. Even though I've been crafting for a number of years I still love browsing second hand shops for books... collecting is almost as much fun as using the books! I just need to focus on using them! Lots of ideas, as always... thank you!

Natasha, I love this video. I will watch it again and again because you did inspire me, but I don't know what I want to work on first! LOL Love your videos and you are not a hoarder!!!! We repurpose things, we don't just hoard them up to stack up all around us. We are interactive with our supplies and gift them, sell them, and love them.

Very inspiring!!! And so true - accumulation instead of creating/
I can lose myself! Your video on making a journal out of a business junk mail envelope started me. I get such joy out of making these journals & giving them away. So true about keeping EVERY scrap/ but so much creative potential. Love this particular video because you are encouraging me to use my stuff up!! Thank you so much!!!❤

Absolutely inspired! My junk journal journey began with the covid shutdown. Realizing I couldn't venture out for craft supplies, I decided I'd have to use what was around me. In the beginning the snow kept me from accessing natural materials from my yard. But the mail came almost daily without fail, and THAT became my craft material! Between junk mail for paper making and images taken from catalogs, I found a free and unending supply of materials!

Natasha, I absolutely loved this video. I AM a hoarder and have no idea what to do with it all. Kids moved out, and I took over a bedroom, even bought a beautiful 5 piece kitchen set that sits in the middle of the room that I work at. Hung up a TV to watch, it's my own little haven. Hubby made me 3 very tall shelves with many slots, out of old cabinets, I store scrapbook paper in. If it wasn't so amess, I'd take pics, but it looks like a cyclone went through it. It looks like a scrapbook store because I too love to buy, buy, buy. Now I need to make books to give away and sell. Not sure anyone would buy a journal, who journals anymore. Anyway I loved your video, you shared many projects that I could probably do if you don't mind me borrowing them. This comment is now a mini book so I'll say bye, hugs from Arizona...:)
Edit: I don't do much housework at all. I live in the desert & there's no such thing as keeping ahead of the dust...lol

I totally get cutting up old unused/unloved books. When bits and pieces are used from books the book is still being loved and used, even more so. I had a very old large atlas book I got from my mom and ended up ripping pages out for a furniture project. I did research first to be sure it wasn't rare or valuable. It wasn't. There was a bunch if them on ebay for like $10. This way these books are being used, perhaps not for their original intended purpose, but better than going to the trash or taking up real estate on a shelf.

Yes! Collect, use half, go on to something new. Collect, use some, go to the next thing… After so many years of this I have more than I can ever use up! So I’ve started combining, what would you call them? No idea what. But my latest obsession is slow stitching. I can recreate sooo many of your great paper ideas in fabric and then of course mix fabric and paper!! And you can always make it into a book! A stitched, quilted, paper fabric metal beaded painted book with jewelry hanging from it! The madness is never ending! Thank goodness for fits of creative madness! It just feels so darn good! Loved your video!

Love the comment "Does that make me a hoarder?" Anyone who has been crafting for a while is a hoarder with supplies, gadgets, unfinished projects....well you get the idea. Another issue crafters have is collecting things for a project, and never getting around to making it! I have "junk" for a Halloween Junk Journal that is still sitting in the box. This was supposed to be a gift for a dear friend that LOVES Halloween, for this past Halloween!. I have been collecting all of the fun things for it since last year. I thought to myself "Well its past that now, maybe you can give it to her for Christmas so she will actually have it for next year?" Yeah, that's not happening either since Christmas is about 2 weeks away. INSERT BIG SIGH HERE. I need one of those didn't do anything but make sure the kids were taken care of days. Enough rambling, thank you for the inspiration to get out of my non-crafting rut. I would love to see a tutorial on your painted/stamped vinyl journal.

It's so true about the buying stuff for crafting. You see the potential in EVERYTHING. But it get to the point where the stuff starts to stress us out. I still go thrifting but it has to be amazing, or a "too good to be true" bargain for me to buy it. Natasha, what a bounty you have created! I'm going to do a bunch of the predecorated book pages. That's a fantastic idea.

I feel we have been in the same places creatively, I was a shopper and collector for so may years paper and products and thrift stores, especially lace and crochet for me and man do I love a great thrifted wedding gown to dismantle. None the less when the Pandemic hit as an older person I decided to just "hunker" down, become a recuse and play with my treasures which took up a considerable amount of my space. I too have the occasional Creativity Explosion, I could make 100's of journals and not run out of ephemera for the pages. I am so glad I have all my stash now.

Greetings from Denmark. You certainly inspire. My problem with crafting is that I start pulling out a lot of stuff with a specific plan to create one thing, and I soon find myself creating something totally different. Before I know it, I am working on 7 different items exhausting my mind and motivation and making a mess that will take me hours to tidy up. I do however love the process of creating junk journals. I just have to try to restrict myself to "just one project at a time" 😀

All your videos are so inspiring but this one tops them all. I was actually sitting at the PC when the video started and got up to get my iPad so I could take pictures of the individual pieces as you showed them. I am new to this particular hobby and have purchased so much, but only have made a handful of things. It was so refreshing hearing you say you went through the same thing. Thank you for your candor and thank you for your wonderful videos. Now, I'd better start creating!

Inspired!! I wish I could show you my project. A book with hard cover, embossed with tissue, painted. 3 signatures bound to the book spine, 2 more signatures tied into the spine with coffee dyed dried grass. Pockets and sewing and envelopes and belly bands and stamped and distressed coffee dyed pages and quoted cut from books and pictures and a necklace pendant with an old leather shoe lace to close and ......
    Mind boggling!!!

Your creativity is off the charts! Love everything you made. Wish I had a creative vision like you. It’s impossible to save every video, so I forget what things I can make. But you are truly inspiring and generous with your time. Going to my craft room as soon as I’m done typing this. You had some really great ideas I’d like to try before I forget. *** I hope you will show us a video on how you did your first journal with the pen holder.*** Thank you for sharing your treasures. Really appreciate it. Stay well. 💜😎🇺🇸

Have you ever met/seen someone who makes a life changing impact in your life? Literally changes your whole existence! Natasha, you’ve given me a new purpose! Please don’t read this lightly. I was at my lowest, a point of seeing myself as not worth much in this life anymore. I remember the day (just a couple months ago) I put UA-cam on randomly and one of your videos popped up. You shared your story, who and where you come from and your struggles. I cried and cried watching it. (I left you a message on that video thanking you.)
I started collecting papers from everywhere, nothing was left behind! I’ve made it my purpose to watch one video every single day that you’ve done to create a self improvement planner. My self improvement now comes from creating. I found ME through YOU! Sometimes when we get older up in age, we tend to forget that we can still be worth something. I had forgotten! Now, I wake up excited each day to spend time with my UA-cam friend, Natasha who is going to teach this old bird how to find worth through papers and fabrics! 💕 I personally thank you with all that I am, all who I am today, for being you and helping me save myself from doom & gloom! I place this on public read in your comments in case there is someone else out there who is, or has gone through the same thing! This is more than junk journaling, this is life altering and life saving! I’m Grateful! 🥰🤗🥰

While watching most of this video, I started to realize I’ll never be able to create things as diverse and beautiful as you have because I don’t have a stockpile of miscellaneous things like you do. I started feeling sad because I REALLY love this style you’ve created and I’m so inspired by you without the tools/“bits and pieces”/collection of stuff to create with, like this. Then suddenly, near the end of the video, you explain your own process of taking initial time to collect all the things you would later create with and now I don’t feel so bad. When I’m back on my feet (been struggling with pain), I am going thrift store shopping!! Thank you! I LOVE your videos!
Edit-Btw: you are NOT a hoarder because you actually USE what you have been saving!
