Finally someone else who got the ballad chords correct. Every transcription of it was wrong and it bugged me so I corrected the chords. Glad to see someone else with good ears
Nice work!! No lie, this show (especially the first 100 seconds) got me back into following DCI after being away from the activity for 7ish years. It sounds like your transcription process is similar to the way mine was back in the day. A fun and rewarding process! Keep it up!!
First, I will watch the show in its entirety, paying attention to details like soloists, time signatures, and patterns in the music. Then, I break them down by movement and start working through the head cams or listening to audio recordings. As I work through the show, I will also use lot videos that have certain segments for extra help. As far as tips, a lot of my speed comes from practice and after a while, you will begin to follow parts in the music faster and have better ear training. As usual, it’s all practice
hey! I was going to do an 8bit version of Carolina Crown 2023. And to my knowledge you have the best brass transcription there is. I was wondering if i could have the Musescore file. You would of course be Credited for your work. Thank you!
@@lowkey4life723 I prefer muse4 sounds personally, tho I can see the argument that the old sounds probably have more clarity with fast stuff. The new sounds just sound more full and blend better. The big hits sound a lot closer to irl and a little less like midi. Also crown themselves used a few concert instruments so maybe it’s not that out of place lol
I don’t know your work flow, but I find adding articulations as I go doesn’t take that much longer, and it makes the MuseScore sounds behave a lot better. Impressive transcription, though
@@DaveSmith_ Well that is the actually important part, the articulations/dynamics/soundfont choices are all to make the MuseScore playback sound better (especially for UA-cam porpoises)
watching this really puts into perspective how hard this show actually is, musically its hard to tell how weird some of the chords are tune, or how hard the mechanical parts of the music is without actually seeing it, especially considering how often the electronics play over the horns in the recordings; the sound balance on the recordings is really bad
The "fluff" is all of the percussion/electronic parts that are included in every single show. I don't think you understand modern show design if you don't respect how perfectly crafted this show is. This show has the whole package and was clearly recognized by the judges for it with their bronze medal finish.
I mean, it's hardly "perfectly crafted" if it didn't receive a perfect score. I felt like it suffered in the area of sounding entertaining VS sounding technically brilliant. They deserved 3rd, don't get me wrong, but I firmly believe Relentless (2016) walks all over this show. More than the music, I have conceptual issues with this show as well, but that's not what this is about.
can't wait for the mandarins transcription

They’re pretty tricky chords, took me a while
You're a legend for making these transcriptions 🔥

How did you get to do that?
Your so amazing, like Omg I love these videos!! Keep up the hard work!!
I fricking love you thanks 🎉

I can’t wait till I get home
It's honestly insane how many shows you transcribed. What does your process look like for transcribing a show and do you have any tips?

The cam videos helped me tremendously. Hadn't thought about searching through lot videos for excerpts. Thanks for the advice!
the 200 brass feature is actually at 185 during finals night
Correction: 184

Yeah sure what’s your email
Could you do the Bluecoats 2017 Jagged Line
Yeah I will get around it eventually, not sure when though
@DaveSmith_ Thank you, Jagged Line has my favorite tuba feature
Any chance you can send me just the tuba part so I can try to play along?
Bruh you need the musescore 4 sounds pls
Alright alright I’ll get it
Yea but muse score 4 isn’t good for marching it sounds strange using concert band sounds for marching lol iv tried

Yeah I’m trying to get better with articulations, I tend to focus more on getting the right notes

Why bro still usin musescore3? 😭
Bro is late to the conversation smh look at the other comments
pdf?
Check out my musescore account to see the score
the fast parts sound so bad on musescore
Even crown brass sounds cleaner than this software
Musescore can’t keep up

Wow cutting out all the fluff really shows how boring and segmented this book is.
I am so glad someone else is realizing this too
L take

i bet you're a blue devils enthusiast and think those are somehow entertaining compared to crown
