    I remember messing around with my friend doing conventional deadlifts before I knew about rack pulls. We will attempt our 1 rep max or close to it and try hold the weight at the top as long as possible I remember the next day my traps were on fire with DOMS the next day as well as my friend. From then I knew holding weights in a static position works ur traps well so when I first heard your rack pull I knew it was a genius idea. Load more then a deadlift and more safe for the lower back

    I have a pair of traps now thanks to u Leonidas! I was working out for 12 years and had no response from conventional trap training. I could shrug 365 strict at one time and nothing so I pretty much gave up. I started doing cheat shrugs and worked up to sets with 495 to 675 lbs and bam (+rack pulls of course). Now I going back to strict to test it I can shrug 405 strict. Haha.

    In 2050, there will be gyms that look like medieval torture chambers. One wall is lined with racks that stretch you out until your joints are almost torn apart. Another wall has bars from which gym members dangle all stretched out with heavy plates hanging from their legs and arms. These future gyms will be soundproofed to keep all the screams and groans inside and once you join, you are not allowed to talk about what goes on inside. All members are yoked to the max and have legs like a tyrannosaurus rex. Even the local parrot that sits on a bamboo stick near the front door is swole. Everyone who walks in hears the bird say #Gains. Or #Corn.

    I agree with you a thousand percent. rack pull power shrugs bent-over rows and cheat Rows work they just work. the other guy I like a lot Eric recently said in a video that he doesn't like above the knee rack pull that's how I discovered him and for him to say that he doesn't like doing it and it pretty much is a waste of time really disappointing me. When I started doing them my gains , and my body started changing immediately, and I'm a seasoned lifter. My traps and upper back are thick now and im looking yoked. Someone called me the hulk yesterday. My OHP has increased 10lb from 165 to 175 in 8 weeks too by training 10x10 and 4 variations in 2 week blocks. This program is like none other. Gains and constant PRs. Thank you. Second time i came back, said fuck it and loaded it up to almost twice my deadlift weight. HOLY! i have never felt a burn on my traps like that EVER! Agreed bro, im nearing the end of the novice phase and my traps grew like crazy doing deadlifts. • @tpap6827
    @tpap6827 6 років тому

    Alex,
    I did power shrugs for years ultimately working up to 6 plates per side for high reps with a big ROM several Inches of which were concentric due to maximum leg drive. I thought the concentric was responsible for my trap size and I was never able to go heavier than 6 plates. because I was working off 6 inch blocks or a rack with holes starting about 30 inches off the floor. see the problem. I am either doing shin deadlifts or unracking weight with bent arms. I abandoned the power shrugs. I never really got into traditional barbell shrugs or dumbbell shrugs because I never felt that you could go heavy enough to stimulate substantial growth. I ended up getting it into heavy deadlifts about this time. Prior to doing heavy deadlifts off the floor deficits. and blocks, I was following a Westside Barbell Conjugate Periodization Program where deadlifts are performed for speed ND as a special exercise typically with accommodating resistance. My floor deadlift suffered as a result and I switched to a more traditional program using concurrent periodization but. still performing the classic lifts heavy more frequently. This of course resulted in nervous system overload (I had been training for about 20 years at that time and was handling significant loads without recovering adequately. while specializing on my deadlift I frequently did block polls and pin pulls from the knee. as I continued to perform a variety of deadlifts my traps continued to grow. I did block pulls with 675 which is more than the 585 I was using 4 power shrugs. I was shocked when my traps exploded with new growth.
    Now you have confirmed what I I believed to be true but never took the time to thoroughly understand. therefore, I would like to thank you. Your dedication to building your traps,, in my opinion, is one of the few breakthroughs in strength training knowledge in the past several decades. I am not suggesting that you were the first person to understand this , but the fact is you are bringing it to the masses and I believe that your passion for building traps and neck will play a role in exposing the mainstream Fitness community has a bunch of clowns brainwasbng Young men into believing that being undernourished scrawny weakling with chiseled abs is superior 2 being big, strong, fast and physically capable. people often talk about the pussification of societies young people. The words muscle, strength and testosterone have become too closely associated with violence, and other antisocial Behavior. there's also a prevailing belief that's looking strong and masculine is a sign that the individual possessing these traits is probably intellectually stunted, immature and uncultured. the reason big traps in the big neck are so much more important today than ever is because the yolk look scares the average out of shape, pseudo intellectual and the skinny yuppie elitist who believes that's his unimpressive physique and cowardly attitude makes him more socially acceptable and civilized. I would say every guy who wants to look big and strong wants huge traps in a big neck and many of them don't even know it. they are convinced that the big arms and big packs possessed bye the big guys that they look up to you are the reason that they look so impressive. the reality is you're naturally enhanced ideal regarding occurrence of

    I've learned from you that the weighted stretch is super important, but I also learned that it applies to other body parts as well from experience. Weighted chin ups for example, my biceps look so much fuller than before ;) Thanks to the Novice Program bro, but I accidentally hurt my lower back by doing 140kg squats and i gotta rest my lower back for a while. Is it good to do the other body parts? Or should I rest until my low back pain is gone?

  • @LarryLynx
    @LarryLynx 6 років тому

    I started doing weighted stretching and direct neck work about 4 months ago, 2 times a week.
    I can already tell a difference, even though my rack pull is very weak (my deadlift needs to SIGNIFICANTLY improve). Either way, my point is that this works for almost everybody to some extent. If it doesn't work for you, it is likely that you are a very low or non-responder whatever you would have done anyways.

  • @YoungSandwich10
    @YoungSandwich10 6 років тому +1

    as soon as you realize that the trap supports the shoulder girdle and basically just prevents the arms from being ripped off while holding heavy weight, its easy as fuck to conclude that heavy weighted stretch on the traps is what grows them. the heavier the weight, the more the traps have to work. i figured this out about a year ago while doing farmers walks, cuz my traps would be wrecked after doing them,

    Great way to train the rack pull is do Below Knee 2 weeks in a row then next 2 weeks do direct knee lvl rack pull. End it with last week doing above knee rack pull. It’ll blow your grip and traps as well. BTK rack pulls increase DL strength too. Great discovery by Alex

    Weighted stretch WORKS. After I started doing farmer's walks and power shrugs, my traps blew up! It just fucking works!

      good thing is power shrugs will let you get more out of less weight. when you drop the weight it's more force on ur traps than if it's lowered slowly

    Hey Alpha, I appreciate the emphasis on traps, but I'm having trouble growing my arms ... any advice? Videos like this video but for arms instead would be fucking amazing.

    My back gets beat up doing deadlifts even with good form. In this case, adding in rack pulls at the knee will help me stabalize, as well as overload and build the traps. Thing is, when i use straps it's awkward, have to get used to straps.

    Hey Alex. Was really wondering if you are still using Minoxidil for your beard? Last video was along time ago, looking for a bit of an update. Looking alpha my friend 👌

      Been off for months brother, but I created a beard oil that I use on a daily basis. It contains jojoba, castor oil, and peppermint oil.

    I have large traps from construction labouring and delivering heavy goods. That's pretty much farmers walks for several hours a day. And nothing really being lifted over chest height.

    I can attest to this. I started doing rack pulls, farmers walk and over head press with holding the weight at the top and my traps have never been as sore and my middle back is starting to pop more.

    if you think about it, traps are actually contracting when doing heavy pulls, because even if you are not shrugging, the traps are actually pulling your arms to your body at all times. They don't shrug cause you don't ask them to but they are definitively pulling
