Schwartzman took a set from nadal..
Nadal: so you've chosen death 💀
Reminds me RG 2019 final Rafa vs. Thiem. He destroyed Thiem after Thiem winning the 2nd set.
This made me laugh. Great line ;)
Ahahahah Nadal was thinking: Do you think thaf you can do this to me? To the king? I will show you why I am the king. Now and forever Schwartzman mind and confidence is broken. True story. Ahahahah

"You break my streak, I break your soul, no?"

That “no” at the end hahahaha
You take a set I take your life no?
Why I hear Rafa’s voice? Why!!!
As Djokivic said (I'm paraphrasing): Tennis is a mental game, we are all fit, we all know how to play (yeah some are more talented) but in the end, is all mental. This guy, never gives up and has become a role model to me in real life for what he does in the court. Nadal, thank you.,
@andreasmissiroli yes of course, he's a beast all around, just saying his mental fortituted is incredible.
@@LightyGab It’s really amazingly.
@andreasmissiroli You don't know what are talking man ! It's about determination to go for it, something the new generation don't have yet! Just watch Berrettini vs Nole , is so boring Berrettini playing without a goal
True at competitive level, tennis is all just a mental game.
After Djokovic vs Berrettini match point I just turn off TV. Reaction from
Djokovic on lost match point… reaction after winning…. Not to him to talk about mental health. Fedal da best 💪
Although the outcome was never seriously in doubt, Diego showed why he is a feared and dangerous opponent for anyone, especially on clay. Full credit to him, for pushing Rafa harder than anyone but the champ is on a mission.
Good luck Rafa
Yep. Diego is the only player that can play against Nadal at RG. Not beat him but make it a match.
Novak could take Nadal out in semis, and I hope for Rogers sake, he does!
This was probably à great preparation for the match against Djokovic

And it is fast forward somehow
Im more shocked by the fact he is not wearing the left wristband

Yeah when saw the length I was like ok, RG treating us nicely now, probably from Amazon money :D
6:3 4:6 - Diego: "it is bleeding. If it bleeds, I can kill it!"

In this world of constant unpredictability and chaos, Rafael Nadal brings a level of predictability and calm, which is refreshing to our troubled minds. Rafa the ever-dependable.
You write like a new York times book review
For sure!!
Bugger off you twat
You could be like Nadal too, then other people could also rely on you
Nadal, the unbreakable, the ruler of clay, first of his name, the unthroned king, has won again
It's actually quite incredible that someone with the height of Diego Schwarztman is able to play so good and can be in the top 10 of the tennis rankings. If you have to make up for all the points you can't win through your serve, which is a natural gift someone like medvedev just received when he was born and which is a big advantage in tennis, you have to play even better, play crazy angles and so on. A lot of respect for that !
Marcelo Rios was number 1 (yeah for few weeks but it shows it's not impossible)
Short guys have better mobility and change of pace.they habe that advantage
@@pierremaldonado7447 not when the ball is jumping off the court
@@pierremaldonado7447 Bro, its much harder as shorter players, when top spin come, we have move and hit it early to make up. While tall players can just pound it easily within the comfort strike zone, serving is also more of a challenge :(
@@lost_valley Rios is 5 ft 9. Not as short as Diego but yes very possible as shorter players also have their advantages like a lower center of gravity which make them more agile and sometimes their service tragetory angle can make it difficult for players who are much taller...

This man is 35 years old!! No way, not a chance .. Just look these sprints from side to side. No words can describe the man who called himself Rafael Nadal
35 is the new 25 in today's tennis! LOL
Ronaldo and Nadal are very similar in that case , both 'should be retired' but they are still one of the best athletes in the world for more than 15 years
The first three sets were highly entertaining! What a commendable effort that was from Diego Schwartzman!
Diego does have the tools to hurt Nadal. But it's very difficult for him to beat him in best of 5.
@@Onmysheet Yes, if he was given best of 3 he would've almost won
Thats's why Nadal is so good in RG because of his stamina and the big courts + 5 set endurance battles
Tried his best
I couldn't agree anymore secret guy and this is what makes the big 3 formidable in best of 5 sets matches how they play such a high level and still have the stamina to keep that level for all 5 sets. Look at musetti as a youngster played 2 sets of his life against novak but burnt himself out didn't pace himself. Then Novak cleaned up the next 3 sets 6-1 6-0 6-0. Players like Schwartzman can play 90% for 3 sets max but big 3 can play at 80% for all 5 sets and that's enough to beat anyone.
Diego raise his level in the first two set but he can't contain Rafa's aggresion after that.
Let me introduce you the greatest tennis player the world has ever seen: The only one with multiple slams on each surface. The one with the highest win percentage in grand slams. The only one with 13 slam wins in one grand slam. Probably the tennis player with the most grand slams. And there are still people out there doubting his greatness? Unfortunately his time will come to an end in the next few years. So let's enjoy the master himself producing some greatness till his retirement.

Rafa doesn't hit a backhand, he hits a sliding forehand. Legendary.
One thing is clear: Even for the great Rafael Nadal to win at Roland Garros... it is not simply a matter of muscle memory, or habit or going through the motions and pummeling the opponent time and time again. It's a combination of sheer will, resetting oneself and being in the present, perseverance and tactical ability.
I honestly felt Diego might pull off an upset after the second set. Rafa proved otherwise.
Same lol thought he would cause upset but nadal seems to take it up a level
Give me a break. He holds the racket weirdly which allows him to generate ridiculous top spin. A one trick pony.
He has selective memory loss, he plays at Roland Garros like if it was the first time

Really? For Diego to have had even the slightest thought of pulling off the upset, he need to be up 2 sets to love, 5-4 in the third, serving 40-0. A level match at one set all was never a cause for concern.

There is just something about when Rafa starts to really set up and club those forehands. The best part? He's not necessarily trying to finish the opponent outright. More like, "Are you ready to take these consecutive heavy blows?

@@yaserqazi5851 i think the ones at 1:03 as well. Regardless. Once he starts trapping you in his forehand bludgeoning, it's a good sign that you're in trouble. Lol
I’ve been saying it all tournament long, the viscousness with which he hits his forehand, it’s like he’s bullying his opponents around the court. And you’re right, he’s not necessarily going for the outright winner, he’s simply jerking them around from one corner to the other. It’s truly a wonder to behold.
I've never seen him play in person, but it looks brutal. I've played guys with really heavy topspin forehands and after awhile it's not only exhausting, but debilitating. Bravo to anybody who goes the distance against Rafa.
First hats off to Diego for an amazing battle the first three sets. And Rafa, how is it possible this guy keeps amazing me after all these years?

Except the man known as Novak Djokovic.
As a huge Rafa fans here, I should confess my fearness to keep watch his match when he lost a set or even just a break..I know It's a Shame as his fan not to trust his ability on clay, especially on his backyard here in Phillipe Chartier, but I just can't handle my nerves and as always I turn off the tv and unfollow the live score...Then I just sit with all my anxienty about Rafa's game in my bedroom, I pray to the "source of energy" to give all the positive energies to Rafa, also I send all my energies and wishes to him and his body, just like this match and the match against Sinner, I just keep doing that for him until all my anxienty gone, and I know I am ready to watch the match again because I feel Rafa gonna come back, then I turn on my phone to check the live score (what I do at first as always), if the score favors to Nadal I Will turn on the tv quickly to rewatch the match, if Not I Will repeat the same thing again..fortunately this match and the match against sinner, I don't need to do that, instead of that, I just lucky still can enjoy the process of making 🥯 in the last set..
So forgive me Rafa for my nerves and I am so proud to be your fan..
Please stay Focus and keep your high level in the Semifinal.. Vamos 💪🔥

That forehand is a force of nature. I watched him practicing at Indian Wells about six or seven years ago. I was about ten feet from the court. His forehand was probably the single most impressive stroke that I’ve seen in forty years of playing and watching tennis. It actually moves faster after it bounces. It moves like it’s shot from a cannon, accelerating from the heavy topspin. Just an awesome weapon.
2:44-2:49 one of the fastest forehand I've seen in this tournament

A crown here will give Rafa something even Roger nor Novak couldn't do -- multiple slams per decade over 3 decades!! WOW!
Novak? He has won across 3 decades no?
@@duncan3932 Yes he has. He won his first major (AO) in 2008. His second major was in 2011. That's why I said "multiple slams per decade".
All "decades" records are dumb. In any case, the important stat here would be how much time there is in between the first and last slam. I think the answer is Nadal again but I'm not sure.
@@charlie172011 Well Novak holds the record for most majors in a single decade. Would that be a "dumb record"? Not at all, just shows his level of play for a whole decade, that no one else ever achieved! It's very impressive. So this record for Nadal is just that -- impressive that no one else ever achieved.
@@DeepakMallick Yeah, it's a dumb record because it depends on the luck the player has regarding the years in which their best work happens. In any case, the real record here would be "most majors in a 10 years span", and not on arbitrary chosen periods (90s, 00s, 10s, etc).
It is amazing to see Rafa raise his game after every blip that he has during the match. More importantly, when the blip costs him the set, like it did against diego, he just raises his game to such a level that it destroys the opponent. After all these years, and 13 FO titles later, Nadal is hell bent on one thing. "I may not be the best in other surfaces, and of course you can beat me there. I don't think Grand Slams should be the only metric in deciding who is the 'GOAT'. That's like saying a player with 21 GS and nothing else is better than a player with 20 GS, couple dozen Masters 1000's, couple ATP Finals, and many weeks at #1. The only thing holding Nadal back from being the universally accepted 'GOAT' is that he has zero ATP Finals and unfortunately fans will constantly bash him for that. In my personal opinion I don't think Rafa will ever be the 'GOAT' unless he wins at least one ATP Final, and I just cannot see that happening.
@@nubonsteroid9371 You are correct, but you forgot about weeks at number 1. That is arguably as important as slams and Nadal trails way behind Federer and Djokovic. Only casuals would say only slams matter.
