The tournament where Nadal opened the Puerta to his career.
🤣im argentine and i heard Gastón Gaudio, RG champion in 2004, had said Guillermo Coria, whom he beat in the final, would surely win RG in the future but he didnt know Nadal would come up😉

@@leandrogabrielsalviagarram9224 Nadal kills Coria's career on Mónaco 2005 and Rome 2005.
In Spain we think Juan Carlos Ferrero will be a top, but he won 2003's RG, did the final of USopen 2003, and get the number one for three weeks, the he dissapears.
He lose the number one to Roddick Who was the Last number one before the Top4.

When 2005 is starting to become classic you know you are getting old :p
the longevity of the Big 3 is just insane
@@lotus630 yes it's incredible Imagine Becker playing a final and win it against Federer in 2003 at Wimbledon. That's what those guys have achieved. 18 years at the highest level. Fantastic Rafa.
The birth of the 🐐
Wow, this is a real time jump. I remember this era well.
Good old times.
I’m excited for this new era too, I think we might have a slug fest like we did in the 80s, it won’t be predictable like the big 3
Me too. I feel lachrymose
@@ShaunbirKlair24 This new era isn't here right now... Djoko and Nadal still got 4/5 years... only then it will be the era for Tsitsipas, Zverev, Musetti etc... with many contenders 🤩
Huge fan immediately in 2005 at his first round (and such a great memory when he won the tournament) and looking forward to seeing him winning again tomorrow! I can't believe it was 17 years ago... what a career!

After 22
It is interesting to see how his game has evolved since this match. His backhand improved tremendously, more velocity on the forehand, transition game to the net is tremendous, and his overall tennis IQ and tactics are much better. Sure, this 2005 version of Rafa definitely had better movement and court coverage, but he has definitely made up for that loss by bolstering other parts of his game. The guy is unreal, and it has been an absolute pleasure watching him all these years.
I come here to see that. Forehand and backhand are evolved a lot. Serve is another thing !! The whole game has evolved, this rafa wouldn have no chance with a lot of players right now. Just running to the ball and passing to the other court like however sometimes, cant work right now. But the thing is i come to see how much speed he has lost with age, and cant see much difference. But it s difficult to compare because now he hasnt to run like crazy cause his game is different. The stamina was crazy back then.
@@aguestarli8282 this 19 year old nadal would destroy all these next gens. Remember he was dominating prime Federer at the time as well
@@bowiththeflow7123 Federer was never really good on clay though, but yeah I think he would still beat a lot of the Next gen. It would've been cool to see young Nadal against Tsitsipas or Thiem though and compare
@@jayzerbeam9733 Wtf? Federer is one of the best clay court players of this generation, are you kidding me? He reached the FO final 5 times and won it once, hes beaten Nadal on clay, he beat Djokovic at the french in 2011.

Now he won the 21st Grand Slam
Roland Garros finally decided to make some serious highlights 👍
Now he just won his 21st grand slam title.
I'm here after 2022 aus open🔥🔥
This kid with the green tanktop looks pretty promising, he might win 3 or 4 more French Opens, seems like clay is the best fit for him. Dont know if he can win a Wimbledon or AO or US Open, but I'm thinking of betting on him to win RG next year also.
Whatever dude, his foot looks totally fine he was all over the court. He’s faking it 😆 (Sarcasm)
Lazy comedy
3 or 4? Catch up dude! He has 13 french opens. And win slams on all courts! 2 Wimbledon too. Not sure what you've been smoking. Even the kids here in my hometown Texas know he's a legend!!!

watched this after Rafa's 14th RG title... really goosebumps when Rafa lifting 1st trophy .. he is one kind in this universe.
Anyone after his 22nd grandslam victory 🔥🔥🔥
What a classic match! Little did we realize that he would lift the trophy 13 more times.
He was just a kid. So young, so pure. Now he's much, much older but he's also got 22 major titles and he's still humble, kind, loving, etc. I don't watch all of his matches so I'm not 100% sure but I've never seen Rafa lash out in anger and actually hit someone with a ball or a racket. He's so kind and I just love to watch him win.
I have watched all his matches, and he's the only player who never throws his racket or hits the ball in anger into the stands, or to endanger people, he just never does. Uncle Toni told him when he was a kid that he wouldn't tolerate such behaviour, and it would be the end of his coaching Rafa, if he ever acted up on the court.
WHEN A LEGEND WAS BORN
some people don't progress in life..nadal won rolling garros in 2005 and here we are in 2022 .. he still is the same.😀😀😀
but jokes apart... the one who can maintain greatness across 3 decades... is THE GOAT... SALUTE
This guy is gonna be the king of clay in future.
Rafa just turned 19 when winning his first title. In the year of 19 he won his 19th title.

WOW! I have neither seen this match nor viewed the highlights but this was a tough battle. Puerta put on a tough fight. Nadal and Puerta slugged it out and the 4th set was undecided until the last point. To have just turned 19 years old and then to win Roland Garros for the first time. I wonder what the commentators were saying about this win? This was just great! Thank you for this. Nadal Is My Champion!
every set is undecided until the last point
without doping Puerta wouldn't have lasted that long
None of the current generation players would have lasted Puerta that day.
The kind of running Nadal doing in this match can not be expected from today's players.
@@topzze9538 He means the sets were too tight. But Puerta lost three set points. It means the set was on his hands.
Puerta es el q estuvo mas serca d llevarlo a Rafa al quinto set en una final
And now he's playing his own student Ruud in the final!
Ruud took training in his academy??
2005 : What a year for Nadal. He won Monte Carlo Masters and Rome Masters coming into the French Open. He was favourite to win it even though it was his first French Open. And he did win it !!
Nadal looks like a DLC player you have to unlock lol
Why? Explain i did not understand 😁😁😁

Nadal pissed off most of the Argentine tennis players when he came along. They were dominating the clay court tournaments until this young kid from Spain started making them look like amateurs.
