The ashy look on the rubber soles is called blooming. It's oils in the rubber that come to the surface and oxidize turning white. Using a heat gun brings more of those oils to the surface and will cause the rubber to dry out and cause more damage in the long run than it helps. It's best to condition the rubber with a rubber rejuvenator.
I’m glad I was able to convince him to send them to you. They look great. Can’t wait to see how the other shoe sole swap goes. You killed it Vick he’s going to love getting them back
I have some retro 4 black labs in pretty rough condition was wondering if you can do a full restoration on them would be nice to see some labs done on the channel been a big fan since the og days Vic 🙏
Those are some sick shoes! Unfortunately we are not currently taking on any new projects at the moment. Keep an eye out on our UA-cam videos though as this is where we will be making further announcements!
Hey Vick random but can you make a video on Columbia 4s I need help on that midsole paint mix breakdown no one has video on it :( thank love all the work ! 🙏🏼
That’s interesting that the heat removes the ashiness of the rubber, do you think the heat causes it to absorb moisture or what do you think is happening there?
It depends...typically we don't sell them...some of them are customs for specific people, others are just projects that Vick has collected over the years!
If these were a size 10.5 or 11, I restored these shoes years ago for a friend at work. He ended up selling to some collector in NY for 7k. The insoles were badly stained I remember but I got it almost perfect again. If the collector is from NYC, then these are them. Smart move not completely wetting the uppers. I was afraid to do that too. I just spot cleaned very carefully with foam as well. The inside was more important.
@@RESHOEVN8R If you can, ask Vick to see if it's sourced from NYC. My friend and I work in Brooklyn for NYC, I could find out the guys name he sold it too. I know the Sole broker was trying to get them. I had also listed them on discord in the sneaker knockerz group. Thanks. Awesome video!
Great job Vick. Only minor complaint is that for SB factory lacing, for the second holes the laces go over in, not from under, then repeated up. Hard to describe but you know when you see it

We'll keep that in mind, but I would send Vick a DM on IG and ask for his advice!
That’s interesting that the heat removes the ashiness of the rubber, do you think the heat causes it to absorb moisture or what do you think is happening there?
We aren't too sure, it's possible! Maybe the heat evaporates the moisture as well.
They should have called them the "Dunky Brewsters"
So did you leave the stitching factory or did you add the holes can it leave us with cliffhangers
He added his own thread holes!
Hella dope 🔥
🙌🙌
So, for the threads on the sole? 😁leaved it with the bug of the factory? Nice work Vick !!!
Vick had to make his own customizations! Thank you for the support!
What gloves are you using with the acetone? Every glove I tried just falls apart.
These are ThorGrip Heavy Duty Nitrile Gloves!
Random question but if I was trying to repaint some off-white Michigan dunks, what colours would I need to mix?
While I can't give you an exact color, I would suggest checking out Angelus paint and matching that with the colors of your shoe!
Amazing!
Thank you! 🙏
Thank you!
Fire video
Thanks dude 🔥

I have a pair that I need restored ASAP!
Needs new soles and some panels need to be restitched/glued
Unfortunately we are not accepting any new projects at the moment, however I'm sure you'll be able to find someone on our IG!
I have a question does he sell the shoes after he restores them?
It depends...typically we don't sell them...some of them are customs for specific people, others are just projects that Vick has collected over the years!
@RESHOEVN8R ok thanks for responding
Does this hinder the value or will collectors still pay top resale?
It really depends on who is buying...some collectors may not believe so, while others do.

That would be a crazy coincidence for sure! Small world!

@@Vickalmighty Definitely not the one I did! Came out great. I was so scared restoring these lol.
