They may notice, they just don't say anything. Especially if it's a Rolex or looks expensive because they don't feel it's polite, or they just assume you're a snob. However I get compliments on my Swatch because it's just fun. Same with a beautiful woman. Most men would feel less comfortable approaching a good looking girl rather than an average looking one for fear of coming across as a deviant or womaniser. The rules are the same. You can look but can't touch!
This is a wonderull portrayal of a true collector. please make more! I have nothing like his money but I have my watch books and a modest collection. please make more!
" I do this for myself what brings me joy!" Terrific quote reminds me that my Tissot or Hamilton is as memorable as my Omega or Rolex watches. Outstanding interview Thomas.
Awesome post! I've kept my Hamilton and Oris to give to my son when he is 16. This will be his start into watch collecting. He will get my Omega and Rolex pieces when the time comes.

Wow, arguably one of the best collector conversations on any channel, every single timepiece was a work of art, elegant, refined, and each one had meaning and sentiment. Craftsmanship and sophistication at its peak. Now, here is a collector who is humble, wise, curious, patient, and understanding. Plus, he strikes me as someone who wants to share his collection of "art" with everyone to enjoy and take pleasure in their beauty. A heartfelt thank you to the both of you for this wonderful video. God bless you and protect you both.
@owen-trombone I wouldn't wear it myself, nor is it something that attracts me but I can appreciate the craftsmanship and work put into it, and I understand why for some people it may be collectible and someway beautiful. But that's what makes watch collecting so wonderful. We can appreciate timepieces from afar without having to personally own them or want them. It's beautiful and intriguing to me as it's like looking at in a museum, I don't want to have to take everything with me but can still enjoy its meaning value and reason for being created. Anyway, that's just my opinion, I respect yours and understand where you are coming from. Have a great day and new year. God bless.
What a breath of fresh air and so interesting. Hundreds of watch collection videos out there, finally a collector who does it,as he says, for the joy of it. All those collectors coming from the direction of brand obsession and investment value could do worse than look and learn from Mr Katz and buy his book.
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Mitch for nearly 6 years, and I credit him with being the person who single-handedly inspired my pursuit of independent and lesser known brands. His collection is one of the most diverse and eclectic I have ever seen. His passion and enthusiasm for watchmaking is infectious to say the least. I couldn’t be more happy to see my dear friend, sharing his love for watchmaking with the world.
He feels like a brother in watches to me. I have heard his interviews via podcasts and here, and in each interview I hear, his purpose and approach resonates incredibly with me. He collects what he loves, and his book started as an effort to simply document his collection for his children’s information. I want to hang out with this guy!
This might be the best horological content I have watched in 2024; amazing guest, great conversations, beautiful watches with depth, love, and shared awe. Bravo to the entire team, and Mitch has incredible tastes in both watches and fine timepieces! (The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso 101, Havid Nagan HN00 blue dial, TAG Heuer Mikrotimer Flying 1000, and Roger W. Smith/Daniels Series 2 are my favourite pieces in this vid! Bring him back for round two in further exploring his curated collection!).
This guy's a legend, and his way of collecting watches is what I aspire to do. I may have started with some of the big brands, but many of the watches I've collected along my journey are watches that spoke to me for one reason or another. Every single one of them has a story and I wear every single one of them too. I don't buy a watch to sell it, I buy it to enjoy it.
Great job here, Thomas. I can see how in awe and equally nervous you were at the end, and even though so many pieces and brands may have crossed your desk it's humbling to see the look the Roger Smith gave.
I nicked the case of my newly bought grand seiko on the taxi ride back to the hotel from the ginza boutique. It is also the first watch i ever dropped (3 feet distance landed on the carpet). I am convinced the more we try to baby something the higher chance for accidents to occur😂
This man is a true collector, “what brings me joy” that’s what it’s all about. I have several pieces from Omega Swatch up to JLC. Yet my favorite watch in my collection is my Rado Sintra COSC that I got 16 years ago. Cheers
This blows other collector conversations out of the water I’m afraid. Outstanding watches, outstanding collector, outstanding interview. I thought you peaked too early with the 101. I was so wrong.
Great interview. And, this was just scratching the surface of some of Katz's amazing collection. One can only imagine the rest... Wait! I got to check out his book to see, learn, and be further amazed.
A true collector! Following your own path and collecting what appeals to you makes the collection - and this discussion - infinitely more interesting than one that has all of the same models that dominate the watch media.
Excellent video because I get to know more and more brands that I have never heard of with their intricate details on their watchmaking prowess is nothing short of breathtaking. Not to mention the features or should I say technology of it. Magnificent!
Great interview and damn, these are some nice pieces. Love that the guy actualy collects what he likes without caring about any value. Funny thing is that by collecting these funky pieces, he probably has huge value as some of them have become very collectible after all. Like to have more interviews like this with real collectors!
Every time I think I have learnt enough about horology, come a person to shock me and show me that I have only scratched the surface of this hobby. Thanks for a great interview and conversation by a great watch collector and connoisseur. And thanks for the host for being a class act.
This is a great, fantastic interview. It's refreshing to see someone so passionate about truly unique watches and not the usual Rolex display box. Rolex's are great, but it's nice to see some real quality diversity in a collection like this.
Great… now I need an Astrograph AND a Havid Nagan! Fantastic video. Love seeing collections that introduce me to things I’d never know existed otherwise.
Who is Hodinkee? The content you have been posting is simply amazing. Very special pieces that I have not come along in my 8 years that I have been collecting watches
Great video; I agree with Mr. Katz that watch collecting is a personal endeavor. My watches are personal choices as well; I had a chance to get a Rolex, but I opted for an Omega Planet Ocean instead because I connected with it more. I also really like Orient watches so I have a few of those as well. I wear all of mine regularly and enjoy them because they are meant to be worn and enjoyed. It is weird wearing a very expensive Planet Ocean to my blue-collar job though...
What a great person that only go for what speaks to him, If you ask me you also need to take a look at Dornbluth a german family brand.🎉🎉 And why not Credor no one beats them on finish.
"A wild collection with No Rolex, No Patek, No Cartier" also describes my collection 😂 Great collection and discussion. Look at Chrono 24 just picking up that Talking Watches ball and running with it.
That Vacheron Constantin Copernicus, what a beautiful and inspiring watch, just to think that you can actually see and feel your time on earth passing by, some 40 more spins around the sun and your time is up, makes you appreciate your time on earth.
Wow what a guy & what a collection , totally enjoyed his stories , passiion & enthusiasm not to mention the ethos of his " single" minded collecting . A real pleasure to watch especially without seeing the usual suspects .
I relate to this collecting philosophy, though his collecting budget is much greater than mine. Gotta have a Speedmaster? Gotta have a Navitimer? Gotta have a Submariner? No thanks to all of those. I chose the rarer Omega Deville Co-axial Chronoscope over any of the Speedmaster models.
Totally agree that you dont need a popular watch to enjoy your watch. Those who are after popular watches are either they wish to go with the thread or a reseller. The watch should suit what you enjoy and/or reflect about you.
Damn, son, I normally really dislike skeleton watches, but I'd pay dear money to own that Reverso with the 101 movement. Even though that movement scares me in the long run. Splendid video! Lovely collection, of which some pieces are absolutely not my taste, but it is soooo refreshing to see something else than the usual suspects. Sad as I am to observe this, but Ben Clymer & co haven't put out anything this interesting in 10 years now. Congrats on this conversation with this guy. Lovely!
My type of watch collector. Could listen to him for hours!
Most people don’t notice or care about what we have on our wrists. Realising this should be rule 1 for collectors. Mr Katz is a legend!
Most people don’t even notice you are wearing a watch at all. If they do, they may only know if it’s an Apple Watch or not an Apple Watch.
@@NeuroticLobsterand those are not watches for sure
I get a lot of compliments on my datejust anytime I go out in public
They may notice, they just don't say anything. Especially if it's a Rolex or looks expensive because they don't feel it's polite, or they just assume you're a snob. Nah that Vacheron is gaudy and dumb
@owen-trombone I wouldn't wear it myself, nor is it something that attracts me but I can appreciate the craftsmanship and work put into it, and I understand why for some people it may be collectible and someway beautiful. so basically chrono24 is now the best horology channel on youtube
100%. Plus they are not directly sponsored by a single watch brand which makes it even better
Currently. Yes.
Check out hodinkee or time timepiece gentleman
They’ve been pumping out some great content! Your move Hodinkee.
Interviewer is fabulous. Truly a masterclass in how to keep things on track while being kind and fully engaged. Bravo.
What a breath of fresh air and so interesting.

All those collectors coming from the direction of brand obsession and investment value could do worse than look and learn from Mr Katz and buy his book.
I just can’t express the joy Mr. Katz and you have brought to me this morning. My wife kept asking me why I was smiling ear to ear.
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Mitch for nearly 6 years, and I credit him with being the person who single-handedly inspired my pursuit of independent and lesser known brands. That reverso 101 is super cool.

This was the "Christmas Gift" for me, one of the Best interaction i've seen lately :)
This episode has made Chrono24 the best now

This series is super good and this episode is possible the best one yet!
One could feel the love for these watches Mr. Katz has. Very nice interview.
So refreshing to see a serious collector that doesn’t just buy watches to stick them in a safe. You can see that he’s worn them and enjoyed them.
10:32 the alignment of the second hand to the market is perfect
Great episode! Really happy to see a true watch collector talking about brands and models which very often fly under the radar. Hats off Chrono24!
Best watch video I've seen in a long time. Amazing collection 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Incredible interview and collection. Congrats ❤

What an interesting interview. This collector is truly appreciates the art of watchmaking. What a wide range of watches of unique qualities.
Awesome collection. I'm also going to pick up the book. This video sparked something in me. Thank you ❤
This is by far the best collection I've seen... truly breathtaking pieces!
A great man of taste.Excellent.
This blows other collector conversations out of the water I’m afraid.
Outstanding watches, outstanding collector, outstanding interview.
I thought you peaked too early with the 101. I was so wrong.
What an amazing collection. Great interview!
Great video! That reverso is so cool
Great interview. And, this was just scratching the surface of some of Katz's amazing collection. One can only imagine the rest... Wait! I got to check out his book to see, learn, and be further amazed.
this is how I see watch collectors. Not buying for the brand name, but for the joy that the watch brings you.
My father was very much into collecting very high-end watches.
A true collector! Following your own path and collecting what appeals to you makes the collection - and this discussion - infinitely more interesting than one that has all of the same models that dominate the watch media.
Fantastic interview!! An authentic masterclass in both, wonderfully unique timepieces, and watch storytelling! 👏 👏
Definitely the coolest collector interview I've ever seen! Keep up the good work.
Incredible collection, so much passion and beautiful pieces. Thank you for this amazing discussion.
now, this is a man worthy to be called a collector. not just another rich person that buys what is hot or "invest" in watches
Excellent video because I get to know more and more brands that I have never heard of with their intricate details on their watchmaking prowess is nothing short of breathtaking. Not to mention the features or should I say technology of it. Magnificent!

Also, what watch is Thomas wearing?
Beautiful video! Thank you!

I just ordered his book and I highly recommend it. It's a great read about Mr. Katz's collecting journey
This is a great, fantastic interview. It's refreshing to see someone so passionate about truly unique watches and not the usual Rolex display box. Rolex's are great, but it's nice to see some real quality diversity in a collection like this.

A perfect treat! Amazing collection and wonderful convo!
Amazing. Thank you for the video.
This is amazing content - I really enjoyed this. Thank you.
This is a collection on a different level. Enjoy sir
Beautiful work gentlemen! A true connoisseur
Who is Hodinkee?
The content you have been posting is simply amazing. Very special pieces that I have not come along in my 8 years that I have been collecting watches
What an excellent video! Thanks for sharing. I bought the book half way through the video!
I was going to watch later until I heard the introduction. Amazing start
Oh I love that square looking one right before you show the book in the intro
Wow.....what a great guest and interviewer!!
What a great vid!
What an amazing journey in horology!
Thank you Tom!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
The perfect interview!
That’s the only reverso I like. It’s absolutely gorgeous. Perfect details
i really respect any collector who does no rolex
Great video gentlemen. I love watching videos that teach me something new. Thanks!!
my goodness this gentleman has excellent and eclectic taste!

Smart Man. Thank You for sharing your collection Sir.
What an amazing collection and collector!
The host has a terrifically calming voice
what an amazing collector of watches...applaud applaud !
What a fascinating collection!
I admire his approach to the brands.
Great guest, of course but great job by the interviewer as well.

Off all my time looking at Watch videos- this one has far beyond the craziest watches!
Major reason of being a fan of VC is the art pieces they make. They are exceptionally beautiful when i... imagine them on my wrist.
Gotta admit, these videos are growing on me. Keep it up!!
That Vacheron Constantin Copernicus, what a beautiful and inspiring watch, just to think that you can actually see and feel your time on earth passing by, some 40 more spins around the sun and your time is up, makes you appreciate your time on earth.
Very unique pieces ❤ thanks for sharing 🎉 happy new year 🎆
This is on a different level😱😱
Absolute stunning Collection!
What a wonderful and lucky man he is................ that r w smith was amazing
Absolutely stunning! Bravo

I’ve never even seen half those watches. Didn’t know they existed. Wow, that gold JLC was unbelievable.
this is fantastic! unlike some boring collections of $$$ popstars and celebs
What a watch aficionado!!! Superb collection.
II love this guys passion for the art.
video gets better and better. what a collector!
Oh my that Havid Nagan!!
This channel is saving my taste on watches now 😂
Totally agree that you dont need a popular watch to enjoy your watch. Those who are after popular watches are either they wish to go with the thread or a reseller. The watch should suit what you enjoy and/or reflect about you.
This was great! What watch is Thomas wearing in this interview?
It's great that the book exists since collecting at that level is only for the 1 percenters. Very passionate 1 percenter.
Some very amazing watches 🔥
Damn, son, I normally really dislike skeleton watches, but I'd pay dear money to own that Reverso with the 101 movement. Even though that movement scares me in the long run.
