Old K bike trick to keep from smoking was to lean it to right before to left and on kick stand. I always used the center stand as the heavy bike liked to sink the side kickstand into the turf or asphalt. Classic!

Superb motorcycle. These were the first motorcycles to have ABS. I had a K1100 RS. On early bikes you have to be mindful of driveshaft spline lubrication. The K75 is generally considered to be the better bike and essentially indestructible. I've seen these motors installed in vintage Mini Coopers.
Almost certain they are starting a 4wd monster just like Grind Hard is doing, and maybe, someday, they can both face off at the freedom factory! Hell Yeah Brother!
I've brought one of these back from the dead before. One thing to remember is that when you unhook the battery and disconnect the CPU everything goes to zero. When you reconnect and start up, it takes a while for all of the sensors to negotiate best engine performance. Also, sometimes if they do not crank, put in gear and "bump" the transmission. Seals/gaskets on both sides of engine need to be sealed, as any loss of oil pressure will cause it to run bad. Pull the fuel filter from tank and check, replace if needed (any metallic fuel filter can work if it fits, no need for OEM part). The bikes need to be run every month or so. In the 1985 engine, there is a part in the drive train that can have loose rivets (I forget which part) which will rattle at certain RPMs. There was a replacement as it was a recall. Some guys just pulled the part and peened the rivets tight and put back in. Another recall/replacement was some sort of gortex/teflon breather in the instrument cluster. Once I had the thing back together it ran like a scalded ape. BUT, it was an RS, not an RT, so the riding position was very uncomfortable for long rides for an old guy. I had always worked on BMW airheads, so this electrical monstrosity was a new one for me.

If you end up using it for a TRIKE, go ro the dark side by using a CAR TIRE for the back tire! It would give you more grip to RIP! Give this a like so they can see it!
Glad you decided to use the bike that was pulled apart for the motor. Hope you restore the complete bike, would be a great bike for long trips into the mountains or cross country.
I bought a 1984 K100RT in Germany just before returning stateside in 1985. The K-bikes weren’t imported here until 1985. The color isn’t gray…it’s “Anthracit” [Anthracite in English]; it’s a grayish-green. Mine replaced a 1978 R100/7; shipped it from Ft Leonard Wood back to Germany for that second tour in Germany. This one is set up to tow a trailer, and it almost looks like the handlebars are skewed to the right. That isn’t the original windscreen; the original had a small “spoiler” at the top. K-bikes [water cooled, fuel injected], are heavier than original R-bikes [air cooled, carb] but much stronger and faster. The only major issue was that the first generation speedometer would cut off/on intermittently. Some people actually use the engine on small, experimental/homemade aircraft. Takes BMW back into aviation: the source of the BMW logo is a whirling propellor! These two don’t deserve a Beemer. “Laid down architecture” engine??? It’s a horizontal, inline engine.
I hired my daughter to drive me from Shreveport to San Diego some years ago to buy a yellow K75RT from a policeman. Great bike. It only had 20K on it. When I got home I found the local dealer didn’t want to work on it. I’m the farthest thing you’ll find from handy so I didn’t know how to keep it up. It ran fine for more than 50k before the splines gave up. I gave it to one of the guys in the local BMW riders. Lovely touring ride. Very uncomplicated for a touring mount.
Don’t buy a Briggs... please. Pulled one off an old gokart we had and sat and worked with it for an hour. Unless it already runs, don’t work on one or buy one. I’d get a predator or tillotson.
That engine is based on an early F1 block. It's an amazing machine but it needs love. Please, do wheelies and burnouts! Please! Anxiously waiting. I helped a friend reassemble his many years ago. I can't wait to see what you do with it!
Coincidentally MY bike sat for seven years, too. I took a road job and left the state in 2013. When I left I put the bike into a self-storage unit. Five years later I towed it home, and it sat in the back yard for two more years. Last Fall I finally got around to working on it. Surprisingly it didn't take too much to get it running, but I can't say the same for getting it roadworthy. As of this week it is ready to roll once again. Even so, I would give my left nut for a $100 project BMW!
That brake light on the dash usually goes out when you squeeze the front and rear brakes at start-up. I think it's just a system-check to insure that the brake lights work. I had an 83 K100RS and it was the best bike I ever had. It had 200k miles on it when I sold it. Also, if this one is like the '83, the kickstand will raise when you squeeze the clutch lever. If it doesn't, the cable may need tightening.
The side stand on these bikes is interconnected to the clutch cable. Pulling in the clutch requires you to take the bike off the side stand and the stand then is automatically retracted by the clutch cable. That may be why you believe the clutch was frozen initially. Likely you disconnected the cable connection to the side stand and the clutch then worked. These side stands were notorious for the bike falling over and it was considered a no-no to leave one of these run when on the side stand.
John, your opener was 100% spot on. It's a pity Marty/Moog [ sitting side-by-side on a sofa and are NOT cohabiting ] and Hoonigan [ indoor RC drift hand controls and many people from disparate families in direct contact whilst in lockdown ] don't understand it like you. Okay lads, we found John's new daily for when he has no money to fill up the C10's tank.
They got UA-cam money now they release trash ass lazy shit like this they got $30 bucks to fill a tank
Restore or restomod the intact K100 - it will be a joy forever.
Those bikes are just giant mopeds
Look into getting a salvage title
Why? They already said they are gonna use the motor for a project
@@natestoops2374 they wont tear that bike up. I'd even bet on it
Can't wait to see what you 2 have in mind!!! Keep it coming!
If you end up using it for a TRIKE, go ro the dark side by using a CAR TIRE for the back tire! It would give you more grip to RIP!
Give this a like so they can see it!
I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking it needs an extra tire
Why would it give more grip? Would you use lower tire pressure? At the same pressure you get the same size contact patch regardless of width.
@@stevek8829 motorcycle tires are shaped like a U, car tires aren't. That's why with most production reverse trikes, you see a flat car tire.
Glad you decided to use the bike that was pulled apart for the motor. Hope you restore the complete bike, would be a great bike for long trips into the mountains or cross country.
make a three wheeled with it (reverse trike car)
I love Isaac's place & this bike. One of my top ten channels.
borrow the vin and title from the one that was taken apart for the complete bike.
Your dumb af
Yeah only losers do illegal shit like that
I was working at a BMW dealer when those were sold new. They are good bikes. Grease the splines
you better put a Harley muffler on that engine, this one is waaaay to quiet.
Ol IKE comin through clutch with the starting fluid 🤙
Kick stand needs to be up to start the engine
If it’s in gear yes in neutral no
@@RcBasher5000 for my k1100 rs 1993 it will only start if kick stand is up. Center stand is fine if you still have kickstand up .
5:06 How to get co2 poisoning 😂
Then you realized the door was open
@@tebibyte2357 I think it was cracked
I heard that's the best way to cure Covid-19

NTKSnipersDad as racecar drivers it really doesn’t bother us. You got to learn to deal with it. And racing fuel at the track👌👌👌👌👌
Uhhh anyone else questioning why there starting this thing up in an enclosed area?😂🤦🏼♀️
yes and french doors open to the house.must be an american thing
I remember when they first came out they were the rage.
Friend bought one just to cross the Nullarbor, Australia coast to coast... loved it to death.
Do you guys have an old like Briggs & Stratton that I can use for my minibike
Dude just buy a tillotson theyre fast and cheap
Don’t buy a Briggs... please. Pulled one off an old gokart we had and sat and worked with it for an hour. Unless it already runs, don’t work on one or buy one. I’d get a predator or tillotson.
There's nothing wrong with a briggs. I've got plenty of them running
Even Has a tow bar. Noice any chance you could restore the bike? It would be a good toy hauler with the hitch
Remove the fairing
That's what I was thinking it looks pretty stupid
Man that bike was so gorgeous! Seriously, i am geeked! I was hurt they were taking it apart
Give her a bath bet she will would love that and do a video
That engine is based on an early F1 block. It's an amazing machine but it needs love. Please, do wheelies and burnouts! Please! Anxiously waiting. I helped a friend reassemble his many years ago. I can't wait to see what you do with it!
Get rid of the body work and get some knobbies .
In college I had a 6 year old 1973 Norton Commando 850 - when you said tall and heavy, the memorys all came back.
Perfect power plant for a project !
There are many K100s out there with over 200,000 miles on them. A very very reliable machine to be sure.
This is the first cars and cameras video I watched
Really glad you guys decided not to chop up the bike. Good idea to keep it a bike :)
It's a pity Marty/Moog [ sitting side-by-side on a sofa and are NOT cohabiting ]

I guess it's because you actually have a degree level education and a mind, love you and Ike's bones :-D
Peace and love Brother.
