@@CarsandCameras Hey, battered old crotch rockets are (almost) a dime a dozen, monster crosscarts are rare and awesome. And much better on the Grand Prix course!😂
That's an older power commander 3 usb. I have the same one on my 2001 dyno tuned VFR800. It's a piggyback ECU that allows you to adjust the stock map based on RPM and TPS. It would make it very easy for you to dyno tune the crosskart. That black wire you saw to the battery is to ground the power commander. You can hook up a battery to the fuel pump plug under the tank to save yourself some time draining the fuel. You really scored an awesome bike. I love motorcycles like this. They are very cheap to buy with reliable EFI and none of the electronic assists that are on newer bikes. The crosskart is going to rip and be extremely reliable.
That's the perfect engine for the cross cart! Just a note, do what you can to keep the OEM air box on that new motor. Those sport bikes are really fussy about air and fuel. People try to do air box mods all the time to these kind of bikes and kind of shoot them selves in the foot because it is just too lean to tune out.
I want to give you guys kudos for reaching out to the donor once you got it running so easily, that proved just how good of guys you really are, keep the content coming.

Power commander replaces stock ECU when an aftermarket air filter and/or pipe. Like changing jets in a carb but with way more options. The one you have is a Dynojet which has been the go to for a lot of bikes over the last 10-15 years. Has a low, medium and high setting. The newer ones can plug into a laptop and you can download mapping. Not sure about the one you have. Love the channels, thank you for helping me during this long end of 20 and new year.
For your reference: These bikes tend to be a bit cold blooded with the power commander. It helps to hold the starter button a bit after it has started.
That will be awesome on the cross cart !! And with the power commander you can tune the motor for open exhaust and hi flow intake !! It interrupts the signal from the ecu for your injectors so you can add or subtract fuel from your fuel table you can actually turbo it with that power commander
a Power commander is a device that allows you to tune fuel and timing. If you use the after market exhaust on the bike, and trim the pipes equal length you can use the power commander to adjust fueling with a air/fuel meter to make some good power, and if you dyno it you can work the timing for more power
