It is a ridiculous practice! Face it - germs are a part of life. So many people have allergies and I believe it is due to this germaphobe mentality. So there is a bit of dirt on your shoes,- do you lick your rugs? If it worries you then vacuum every day. But to expect visitors to partake in your phobia, it is rude! They might have foot fungi and now your house has more germs than it would have with shoes! Get over it.
Mathew, at your age 28, I was still struggling to graduate from university. I barely made enough money to survive; but you already made decent money. You will be okay; listen and follow advices from the counselors then you will be fine.

Ok she is over the top. Like I know you want to help him and I agree there's solutions and give him a little push However! you don't need to be constantly dishing out things like thick and stupid", as well as saying bad things about him to the psych without even knowing him or why he's the way he is as he was discussing with the psych, where all you care is how much stuff he has and the cosmetic looks he has vs you, I sense a bit of jealousy there. i'm not agreeing with him either and I understand her part again but the way she's coming across is not just to toughen him up, she's speaking down on him by calling him names; speaking like that way he will despise you for sure and he's not gonna follow with ANY advice you have to say or give. It's basic common sense that is not how anybody would like to be talked to and or How you should speak with anyone. Respect goes both ways. I'd tell you to leave me alone and learn some manners before you dare to speak or treat me like that again. The more you do it the less he's gonna open up. Damn She really got on my nerves.

You can also use your money to invest - we own 7 rental properties. My husband is a real estate appraiser and has done very well. Hopefully we will have enough to retire at 50 and still have residual income.
I know what you mean. It is so easy for a person to get easily in debt as credit cards are so convenient for people to use. A person starts off with 1 card and then before you know they are paying off 5 credit cards
A lot of people seem to think that. I used to work with a girl who, if her card got declined, would say, "Oh, there's no money left on that one," like it was prepaid and not a credit card. OMG, that's not how it works!
In most of these episodes I feel like the psychologist forces confessions onto the subject.....like the kid has feelings of inadequacy probably nothing to do with his mother... its almost a given with the societal constructs that lower and middle class people aspire to with the latter being able to reach that through the use of debt......why you forcing him to says its his mother?!
I love my simple life. NO debts, NO creditcard. I live off of what I make throughout my jobs. That's it's. NO money? NO buying.. This guy is really out of touch with reality.. He'll have a rude awakening.. And still he doesn't look all that!

@@penttijakonen3817 I have no arches at all (and I have 4 pins in my ankle from past surgery) so I have to wear shoes with arch support all the time, even inside. Although I like the idea of no shoes inside for cleanliness. I just wouldn’t be able to do it… I can designate a couple pairs only for indoor use.
He looks like he's wearing an artificial mask 😭 please 💀
I found his situation quite touching. I love ginger hair and am always surprised that people make fun of it.
I hope this person is better and finally happy!
You are brave Matthew! Keep up the good work!
That small house for 240k in 2009-ish in Birmingham...... is WILDLY Overpriced for the time.
I love how his home is so spotless.
Amazing...
18:20 I’m not usually a big fan of this pseudo-psychologist Benjamin, but there are times that he nails it
I love how he’s asking if he feels claustrophobic during the televised therapy session with a giant camera looming in his face.
Mathew, at your age 28, I was still struggling to graduate from university. I barely made enough money to survive; but you already made decent money. You will be okay; listen and follow advices from the counselors then you will be fine.
i have £35000 net worth and im 28. i could have had £100,000 net worth if i dumped more cash into crypto during 2018-2019, after investing in 2017
Lovely comment
This is the ONLY time I've actually liked this therapists approach to helping the person out. All of the other ones were awful. Role playing and just cringy. This one actually worked and wasn't awful.
Shes bad cop, the guy is good cop.He needs to be told that hes stupid and thick because thats the way hes acting.Hes got no real issue to spend like he does, the money is just to freely avalible and he cant stop himself.55k at 28 is shockingly bad.
She got on my nerves literally the moment she walked in and called the note rude.
He wasn’t getting it, that’s why she had to be harsh.
I found her unbearable and such a downer when she made negative comments. Matthew is already dealing with hurt. 😢
Filling a void.
Filling a void that will never be filled.
Aren't we all
And here I am dying over my dark blonde hair to be a redhead!! Red hair stands out, it is unique :)
I’ve got auburn (reddish brown) hair naturally and I’ve dyed it golden ash blonde 👱🏻♀️💕
Back in the day.... When the mortgage company would give you extra money on your mortgage even though you are at the top of your credit limit....
ah, pre 2008 was a crazy time
I wonder where he is now. This looks super old
Looks like it comes from Paris Hilton's golden era
I’d say that’s quite accurate... I caught sight of the date when they showed what he was selling on eBay, and it looked like 2007.
You can also tell how old the show is the technology showing in his house. For example the computer monitors and phones. Another way is his take home wage per month, prices of items
Just google him...he's embraced his ginger roots and I think is a fitness instructor!!
his best friend Richard is now his partner and they have a pet dog as a child, he's also blond now
Im going back to work soon and this just makes me want to hold on to every single penny i earn lolol
Working sucks.
You can also use your money to invest - we own 7 rental properties. My husband is a real estate appraiser and has done very well. Hopefully we will have enough to retire at 50 and still have residual income.
On my recommendations..I think UA-cam's tryna tell me something
‘Only a ginger, can call another ginger, ginger’, as the great Tim Minchin once sang. 😆
He says the ginger thing isn't an issue, but has a complete breakdown & leaves for a week.... 🤷♀️
He's definitely embracing it these days!
@@jillians5792 is he??
Yeah, WTF is this thing against redheads? I have two cousins with the. most. beautiful. natural garnet-red hair and I'm envious beyond words.
It's like he doesn't think of it as spending money at all, or that he doesn't need to pay it back...
Diana Fronsdahl I see you in the comments all the time lol, hows that raccoon doing?
His "friend" Richard
I love my simple life.
NO debts, NO creditcard.
I live off of what I make throughout my jobs.
That's it's.
NO money?
NO buying..
This guy is really out of touch with reality..
He'll have a rude awakening..
And still he doesn't look all that!
“Clearly, there’s something’s he doesn’t like about himself since he has that many beauty products” lol!!!
Keep up the great work! You were so lucky to get such excellent help.
0:42 “must have beauty products”
proceeds to show a tub of nivea cream
I don’t know anyone who doesn’t take their shoes off in someone else’s home when they’re on the carpet. It’s rude if you don’t take your shoes off as you could be damaging someone else’s property
Lightworld
From Canada - on one show of Shopaholic people. They took them to a “soup kitchen” & shelter for homeless people for 3 days. It woke them up enough to realize that they could end up in the same situation. One accident, one chronic illness and things can ALL change. One show from Canada was “ till DEBT do us part”.
My husband & I have been married for 47 years and we have 1(one) credit card and unless we have the money in the bank we DO NOT buy it! I went for surgery and ended up with “nerve entrapment and chronic pain. I was a nurse and eventually had to go on Disability pension. My disability pension was less then 1/2 have a nurse’s salary. We had 2 teenage daughters at the time but they learned a lesson. To expect unexpected issues, illnesses, accidents that could change your earning opportunities.
Why are people hating on this guy tho
It’s literally a disrespectful thing to walk in someone’s house with shoes on lol. I don’t get people who thing it’s weird.
I love gingers! My daughter and grandson are gingers! Love Love Love
It’s a custom in many countries, taking shoes off! Shows respect towards the host and also who would want someone walking on light carpets with shoes. 🤦🏼♀️
I am a red headed American. Yes, I did get some bullying from it when I was younger. But nothing that would make me feel like he did. I’m wondering how much of a taboo it is in the UK?
He is being too hard on himself. There is nothing wrong with his natural physique and looks. He is good looking naturally.
Can you go in the past and tell the kids that bullied him that, that way he won't internalize it
This literally was the first show I ever watched that introduced me to people who have a shopping addiction! Back then when I first saw it, I thought he was rare and unique with a shopping addiction,...... Years later, it normal for people to have a shopping addiction!
My default is to take off my shoes whenever I go into someone’s home
The hosts always talk bad about people's homes before they meet them and even when the style isn't so bad. I would've loved to have seen their own homes then and just make nasty assumptions about them too.
We knew 2 sisters growing up in Nyc, we were all Puerto Rican, who happened to be red heads with freckles, CUTE & these girls pulled all the guys. Another red headed Dominican pulled any girl. I don't understand why the mistreatment. Red hair & freckles is just another form of beauty God created.. I hope this guy can learn to love & accept himself so he can begin to LIVE
I mean you have to look at it in different ways ie the culture, race, religion. No offense but Im assuming your talking about the NYC where the struggle is real and you need the white teacher to save y'all(joke)
That's why the Prophet Muhammad(ﷺ) said, "It is also charity to utter a good word."
I wish I had a ginger hair color, too 😊.
Dye it
What does that mean?
@@happydayz7857 It means words make difference, they seriously hurt. Everyone has to find kind words to be rewarded.
@@ritadecassia279 I'll think about that 😊.
Matthew all you have to do sell what you can all off your stuff in good condition and start paying your debt and live a normal life OK
It's unfriendly that people don't want dirt and animal waste on their carpet?
God I wish I had rich friends. You ever spend zero dollars a week? That's my budget.
Hope you are in a better place today 🍀
I don't understand the problem with being a ginger in the uk? Why is it seen as such a bad thing?
That is same in Turkey they call them carrot
Everyone keeps asking this question, and no one can give an answer. It's a very random form of discrimination. My thought: Red heads are the white people that other white people discriminate against? 🤷🏾♀️
He says he never ever looks at prices. BS! He doesn't make that much money. Have you shopped in London? You can find a purse for £4.000 and that is on the cheap end. Sad that he is so desperate for approval and attention that he would put himself in that situation.
Credit cards are the root of all evil!
I forgot about those weird businesses that would sell on eBay for other people
never understood how anyone thought that haircut looked good. It might have been fashionable but it's one of the least flattering hairstyles there's ever been, and I'm including mullets in that.
"I just bought a suitcase in case I go away somewhere - although I've already got 3". Brilliant.
They should do a spendaholics revisited.
They did!
Not with all of the spendaholics, but some of them they went back 12months later to see what had changed!
@@gemmastaines5706oh! I need that episode!
Hoping he gets the therapy he needs for this destructive addiction!
Honestly he just needs to put his house under his brothers name and everything's he owes. Declare bankruptcy and he won't owe any money to them or have anything taken
Oh my goodness ,if he is this good looking,I can just imagine how beautiful he would be with his red hair.My mom was a red head,& she is now grey, she has always had a strong personality.Red is beautiful! be proud, don’t let some silly people run your life, you are amazing, just be yourself! 🌺🌸🌼🇬🇧🇨🇦M
I started out disliking Mathew. That slowly changed the longer I watched. I hope he is still doing well. Good luck, Mathew. I hope u r learning to find peace and not worry so much about what others think of u.

I can't believe people used to look like this
Wait a decade then look back at all the e-girl/softboy thats going on now
Exactly!
A young man who just dips into and out of adulthood.
I love Ginger people, I’m waiting on my redhead grand babies in the future!
I know this was recorded long ago, but how does he pay even the minimum on his debts plus living expenses when he spends twice what he earns monthly?
He probably used credit cards to pay off other cards. So he probably never saw 'pay day' living on credit cards constantly and never really understanding the overall debt
Rollerblading?!? Yeaaassss, girl.
Walkies!

It's unfriendly to take off your shoes 🙄then she never left the UK I guess 🤦🏼♀️
do people in the UK wear their shoes inside? im canadian and we always take shoes off

As a black woman I’m confused. I feel like ginger hair is a Caucasian issue. Nobody else cares 🧐
There's a reason they say so and so is treated like the red headed step child.... meaning treated badly or harshly...🤷
I do wish there were updates on the people featured on the show.
I know. I keep wondering ... is he homeless now? Has he turned his life around and stayed out of debt? Is he now a ginger again? Where are all these people ✌

Does every scene need distracting music?
Offended and unfriendly for asking people to take shoes made me furious, some people do it as a culture, and no why should rules not be respected with all the amount of things i see outside no way is anyone walking on my carpet with shoes and especially in my area, maybe in her area the road is filled with rose petals on the floor.
Now DVD’s are almost useless… we still have some that we need to get rid of. Not a good investment to buy items like that.
