Going by the monthly rent of £325 for a shared house in Bristol is must be perhaps 15 years ago? Not a great salary even for the time but I wonder if that related to the fact he was paid cash in hand so not through the books?.
I was a chef 35 years. Never even smoked a cigarette. I’m not saying addiction is not a problem in the industry, but let’s not stereotype. The hours create problems. When you finish work at midnight and are wound up it’s easy to hit the pub with others in the same boat.
