While I agree with your points, the one thing overlooked is that this is the first MoW that can do targeted damage to a specified target. But I agree that it’s a lot of hoops to jump through to do that.
Attacking the opposing MoW, in theory, seems cool, but based on the restrictions, it would really just become trading your ammo for the chance that it nullifies their MoW (which also nullifies yours since you can’t use it for anything else…and it costs you ammo to do so, while it doesn’t guarantee to nullify theirs and costs them no ammo to do so).
I’m interested to know how it affects Galatian if he’s deployed since he no longer has use of his abilities.

I will use it against the rogal dorn tank, because I use exithor+revas+actus for that boss, the extra tau damage from the mark could be useful.

To be fair, in the tabletop rail rifles have never passed through their targets. They are high power, precision, single target weapons. We'll see how well it works in action.

Combined with Darkstrider's active, the Broadside's passive actually has quite a bit of potential. Sort of like a finisher, á la Toth's active.
I'll still be sticking with my Forge Fiend for now though. What a beast!

Use him against the side boss Thaddeus.😅 He tends to stay in a 1-hex adjacent spot.

I can see some interesting stun/taunt combos happening with the broadside.I would point out that The biovore has a faction specific ability too.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Rogal Dorn has both the Vehicle AND the Big Target trait. So the Broadside would actually have a 150% against it. Plus the Dorn only moves for half if its turns so the other half the broadside will do full damage. So I think the Broadside will do very well against the tank and any other Vehicle raid bosses they add in the future. That being said I am biased since I am a filthy Xeno T'au lover so I am leveling him regardless lol

The marker light triggers the marker light damage bonus… I think that’s enough. Revas and Sho are 2 of the most used units across all game modes.

I also think it’s really stupid that it’s not mechanical.

Stopping the other person having their go has never worked.
They tried that with the tabletop game with Eldar in 7th edition, "I have my go and then I have your go," and they lost almost half of their player base and it almost destroyed the game.. Now they're doing it again.. 🤦🏼‍♂️

I'm thinking the timing will matter with Rogal Dorn, as presumably you can target the turns it's just rotating?

Realy? I think it is pretty decent, even in PVP. There is a several characters that wait in the back, bombarding or resurrecting.

Yikes, what a "buzz" kill. Looks like PVP with a full team of tau is our only use. Fingers crossed that I can get Shadowsun before she leaves the shop...

    People use Machines of war?
I honestly find them all pretty lackluster

I use the malleus rocket launcher to spawn cadian guardsmen as cannon fodder mainly to draw fire away from my characters more than anything They aren't as potent damage wise as they should be and their use is limited as they can't currently be deployed in campaign or most ltms. They should in reality be totally devastating but I guess that field affect the balance of the game too much... unless they were targetable by all units rather than as an 'out of bounds' influence

Using any of them is better than not using any. Especially in Arena if the other side has one.
The Rocket launcher is useful, though I'm reluctant to use the rocket attack if my units are too close or the enemy is likely to move too fast. The guardsmen it spawns are useful. I've won arena battles because the remaining enemy attacks the spawned units instead of my regular ones.

Biovore and Forgefiend both provide amazing utility for zero investment beyond unlocking them. I do feel like they were introduced along with the ammo mechanic just to make more money but they aren't going anywhere.

Looks like a very specialized unit. Will need time for handling it appropriately. Definitely with a Tau team . Will give more value to Darkstrider, yes.
