Templeton "T2000" Button Release 12g Shotgun (full review)

  • Like many Turkish 12 gauge shotguns coming into Australia, this is a manually operated non-semi automatic shotgun designed to provide fast followup shots for Australian conditions. I cycled everything from the light 28gm target loads to the heavy rifled slugs through this shotgun and it never missed a beat! There are many competitors such as Adler, Bushmeister, Buckmaster but for performance and price, I find the Templeton hard to beat. I just wish the button release was on the forend like the Buckmaster personally.

    I’ve addressed this numerous times, but I’ll address it again here incase you’re a “self regulating apathetic shooter” so have a think about the following before you comment:
    (1) I don’t run and hide or “self regulate” in fear of the antigun crowd. If you haven’t noticed all the restrictions since 1996, running and hiding makes no difference, you will never satisfy the antigun crowd until you have no firearms period
    (2) I know it’s easier for some people to get angry at me from the safety of their keyboard, but are you that naive to honestly think if I stopped shooting a firearm as its intended, that there would be no new restrictions? Seriously? Take a look at Western Australia, I guess some of you have blamed Mark and Sam After Work for making long range videos as the reason for the current calibre bans there?! So stupid if you have
    (3) So even if I “self regulate” myself in the fantasy of appeasing the antigun crowd, what’s next? Should the pistol shooters slow down too because heaven forbid, they try to beat their scores and race against the clock by shooting fast? What then? Should the shotgun shooters not shoot their under and over quickly at clays because that’s rapid fire too? What about the PRS shooters? They had better slow down the cycling of their bolt actions too because we don’t want to upset anyone 🙄
    (4) We also have had registration since 1996, so the various agencies from Customs to the various firearm registries who approve the sales of imported and locally manufactured firearms know exactly what they look like, how they operate and function. You would be delusional to even entertain the idea that online videos of people using them legally, are the first time they’ve seen them 🤦‍♂
    (5) Let’s entertain the fantasy for a moment, that no one in Australia makes firearm videos, so when the antigun crowd use overseas footage (which they’ve done in the past) what’s your solution then? Message UA-camrs from the US and tell them to slow down, I’m sure that will be well received 😂
    (6) I even had a guy suggest moving and shooting is for Call of Duty only. If you have any experience with walking through the scrub and shooting mobs of pigs or wild dogs, you’d understand that you need to move and the way I move and shoot minimises barrel movement so I can shoot accurately. Try walking normally and shooting on the move and you’ll soon understand 👍
    (7) So instead of blaming everyone out there for new proposed restrictions, how about you direct the fire in your belly towards making change? How about standing proud and uniting as one, voting as one and lobbying your local State and Federal members to tell them that you will not vote for them if they support any more restrictions on us?
    So be warned, any apathetic self regulating comments are not welcome, stop watching my channel if it's an issue for you, pretty simple.

      The other point is. Why oh why is our sport the only sport in Australia that you cannot have fun in. And that comes from outside and inside the sport. Which is troubling, there is a big difference between being a wreckless cowboy and cowboy shooting. No matter how we talk and act, theyll always find a way to chastize and remove items from us.
      As for your videos, im yet to see one that could ever be deemed wreckless. Keep the good work up mate.

      @@Oppetsismiimsitsitc for someone with your view of other political parties that support shooting having crap other policies, everyone is welcome to their view. You dont have to put them in power, just have the balance of power on the crossbench. The more crossbench the better. Even if we all voter for one pro-gun party we are a 10nth of Australians and we need to get to about 15% to get majority on the crossbench I think it would be. So vote a shooting friendly party with no worries that you have to F*&^ a goat.

    They're a great shotgun. I've had my 28" for a couple of years now with zero issues.
    You should have mentioned that the T2000 is gas operated as opposed to the short recoil action of pretty much all the others. This is the reason it will cycle pretty much everything. A great side effect of gas operation is the reduction in felt recoil.
    Been waiting for this review because I knew you would like it.

    I recently got the timber stock marine 20 inch version and I absolutely love it. Took it out pig shooting and it was flawless,no problems at all and the price is bang on for what I need it for. I classify this shotgun as a scrub shotgun,it’s great for close range shooting and if it gets a bit banged up it’s no big deal. No jams or problems at all, easy to clean and operate.

I'm not a big dude, and 12g has never been a cartridge i have enjoyed for the recoil, but the gas system in this one is great, really takes some of the snappiness of the recoil out. Really fun rifle, even for clays (20" not ideal, but the clays break when/if i hit them so... fun:)

    Hi Ozzie, great stuff as always.
    As a lot of people did when the Adler lever came out, i jumped on one thinking it was the next best thing but i hated it, i also bought the straightpull version when it came out, a bit better but still wasnt overly happy with it.
    I couldnt get rid of my fondness for my much loved Mossberg pump action shotgun that jack boot Johnnie coward stole from me and none of those Adlers came close to it.
    Id held off selling both my Adlers awaiting your review of this Templeton T2000, i was undecided between it and the Buckmaster PB12, another great honest review by the way.
    After handling and shooting both, i went with the Templeton and like you, i am very impressed with it. My local actually recommended the Templeton also over the Buckmaster due to warranty and other issues.
    So yes, i am loving using this a lot, it fits me great, i have no trouble manipulating the push button and trigger like some seem to, and dare i say it, i dont know if id go back to a pump action now after using this primarily for pigs from quads and in thick lignum. It just works and so far not an issue with it full of mud and dust and a few tumbles from a quad bike to. Highly recommend it. And the Adlers are both long gone.

A vote for Labor, the LNP or the Greens will mean the loss of all our firearms. @ozziereviews One of my co-workers is an Italian Immigrant who hunted in Australia back in 2017. He told me that if Australia had Italian Firearms Laws, half of the Semiauto Rifles, most Semiauto Shotguns, and all Pump Action Shotguns would be Category B License Firearms in Australia.
      The remaining Semiautos would fall under equivalent rules to Italian Handgun Laws.
      It's really putrid; the amount of laws you Aussie Gun Owners have to put up with.
      My Italian Coworker basically said; "Aussie Gun Laws are a steaming pile of s***", and also said many European Gun Owners think the same.

    So, which is the better buy; Buck Master or the T2000? I've been wanting a replacement for my Dickinson T1000 for ages, pretty much as soon as the button release shotties came out, but it's been so hard to choose.
    That said, thanks heaps for continuing to provide reviews of so many new firearms. So many of the online reviews are for stuff that the average shooter will never get to own in Australia (on a category AB licence at least) so having information relevant to our market has been a real blessing.
    That said, is the new Bushpig 12 gauge from Axor worth a look? My budget and the vacant real estate in the safe are both limiting factors at the moment, so as much as I would like one of each (let's be real, more guns = better) I can't get that past the finance minister, probably.

    FIY for everyone and to be honest im surprised none of the reviewers have covered this but here we go. If you bring your Turkish Repeater to the NT and shoot geese with heavy steel shot loads, in no time at all the choke tube will be frozen into the barrel. even with a imp cylinder choke this will happen and it will happen a lot quicker if you use tighter chokes. The chokes get distorted somehow by the shot and then they wont come out. You can buy 3rd party chokes for your Turkish repeater which will fix the issue. This goes for the Adler, Templeton, Bushmeister etc. Don't think when you cant get your choke out that it's rusted in. Thats not the case, the tube has got distorted. You can thank me later....

    The problem with the Buckmaster having the bolt release on the fore end is if you are a shorter shooter you have to really over reach for the button . This is why I'm seriously thinking of changing over to the Templeton . I think the build quality is also better and its actually a cheaper gun. Its a small thing but the choke spanner is also better than the Buckmaster.

  • @tallboy49
    @tallboy49 4 місяці тому +8

    We keep getting told that it is because of public safety that the firearms restrictions are in place. Well if they applied the same thought to motor vehicles there would be very few on the road. There are more people killed and injured on one day in Queensland with motor vehicles than there are in all of Australia in one year with firearms. Where is the logic. There is state election coming in Queensland towards the end of this year and it will be our last chance to save our firearms. A vote for Labor, the LNP or the Greens will mean the end us having firearms to compete at clubs or hunt feral animals. We must give our vote to politicans who will be on our side. Think very carefully before casting your vote.

    • @boarshooter90
      @boarshooter90 3 місяці тому +1

      Well, I can tell you that using a full choke won't "blow up your barrel" like a lot of people claim, but it tends to affect accuracy of slugs in a negative way, and for the health of your choke, I just don't do it. Improved Cylinder is generally regarded as the best choice for shooting slugs for the best accuracy.
