  • Just a quick video showing the differences between a factory evo 8 fuel rail opening and the ams. Please feel free to comment if you know why yhe mitsu rail opening is considerably smaller

AEM fuel rail with Cheap 2 dollar Chinese injectors? I would rather pay 2 dollars for a cheap Chinese rail then skimp out on something as important as injectors.

IDK for certain, but I'm sure the smaller inlet has to do with maintaining fuel pressure from a stock/stockish fuel pump. I'm no physicist but I do know that flow volume/cross section of a given area has an immediate affect on pressure. This is all purely speculation on my part with no actual searching.

Yea its possible. I like no restrictions. I like flow. Pressure comes from restriction. Let the fpr control the pressure. Of course I am speaking in aftermarket terms. You might be right

Curious though as to why you're going with as big of a pump and the fuel rail as you are? I've heard the stock fuel rail/regulator is good until about 650whp give or take. Granted I know the stock rail isn't the best at distributing equal volume to each injector. My approach was slightly different in that I just went with a modded walbro 255 and FIC 1650 high Z injectors.

@@BLACKzj52 I am going with e85. I have heard that the 255 has good luck with e85 but since its not specifically rated for e85, I went with a walbro that is specifically made for e85. It just so happens to come in a 450 only.
Which is ok because i didnt want to mess with hardwiring pump or doing any of the other wiring tricks some other owners do. I wanted to keep it simple but still have the flow for e85 withoit needing to increasing amperage and new wiring to do so.

@@d-evolution1309 Interesting, I've never heard that 255 isn't rated for E85. I figured since it was the go-to intro pump that it was compatible on all levels. Will you have to run an aftermarket FPR with the 450 (can't remember if that's been mentioned or not)? Also, I agree, I don't want to go about hardwiring the pump either.
I don't see my power goals being above 600whp in the long run. I'd like to keep the versatility and characteristics that a stockish evo has (go fast on straight and in turns).

@@BLACKzj52 walbro does not rate their 255 pump as e85 compatible. However they seem to have good luck in the evo community even with e85. Other pumps like the arm 320 or what not dont last long on e85 from my research.
I might need an aftermarket fpr. Some people have said its ok on the 450 without the pump rewire. Rewiring it and I guess the stock one cant keep up. I am keeping stock for now
My goal is 450 and like you want to maintain some of the stock driving characteriatics. That and I dont want to blow the engine up.
