I have this exact same issue on my Evo 8, 158k miles and it makes the clunk noise when I let on and off the throttle. If I'm in fifth gear and cruising around 2.5k rpm you can feel a very bad vibration under the car that is related to the clunking sound. I have the Buschur Racing mustache bar and whiteline diff mount inserts so that is not the issue. I got under the car and my driveshaft makes this exact noise, I suspect is the issue.
