@@MiEleBooker I was watching someone who does tutorials and one of her suggestion was to not depend on your index finger as your dominant finger and not to be afraid to get your ring finger in there. I'm sure you've probably already figured this trick out by now!
Because of its harmonic resonance is tonaly in relation to the diminished 7ths in a common cycle or 4 bar section, as it fits within the circle of 5ths of course.
I love the sound of the baritone, I settled for the tenor I wanted a uke for the higher noise my guitar can't make, maybe I'll get a baritone in the future, really lovely sound.
What gives the uke its charistic sound is the reentrant G string, which is higher than the C and E strings. Some people prefer to use a "low G" string so that it plays more guitar like, so you can buy sets of either.
Since he didn't say it in the video, the U-Bass by Kala is tuned like an electric bass (E-A-D-G), has rubber-like strings, and has electronics. Also you can get it in different woods, with 5 strings, or fretless.
I bought me about 5 years ago a KALA Solid (just the TOP is the Solid part) Spruce Mahogany Long Neck Soprano (Model: KA-SSLNG). This is excellent because it has the classic Soprano sound but a concert long neck that allows you to play more notes. Amazing little Uke!
I love ukes! For my first one I got a Ranch brand Tenor ( it was around $70 ) so not the best quality, but it still sounds pretty good and I love it! I want to get all the sizes of uke all the way up to the ubass! They are so addicting! Once you have one, you want them all!
ooo, how long did it last you? I'm thiknin of buying one too but i cant afford to spend anything over like 80 bucks USD. Did you end upswitching or anything or if the quality hindered your learning process in any way?
Actually owned one of those gretschs. Really great ukes. Although I wounldnt go for the long neck version. The tiny bridge pulls and lifts because of the string tension. Owned one and got rid of it because of that. The regular version should be just fine.
I love my baritone uke’s! I use two now. Larger scale makes is so easy for full fingered folks. One is set up with standard DGBE tuning but the other is set up with Aquila 23U Strings in high GCEA tuning. Actually I’ve found that if you are using the GCEA strings, you could tune down to DGBE and it still sounds pretty good although it’s so convenient to have the two ready to go. The baritone with the GCEA strings sounds pretty amazing, especially if it’s a good mahogany or koa ukulele.
7:05 That Is A Backpack Sized Ukukanikapila (Hawaiian: Fiddling Flea), But It Got Bass Stringed Uku = “Flea” Lele = “Leap”, “Jump” Kanikapila = “Fiddling”
Yew Kah lay lee. When it comes to traditionally acoustic instruments like ukulele or sitar for example I've often found that "electrifying" them takes away much of their unique sound and that one is probably better off trying to make their guitar sound like those instruments than buying an electric version of them. There are obviously ways to amplify/mic acoustic instruments, I am specifically talking about instruments like the so called electric sitars/ukuleles.
Others have probably already pointed it out multiple times, but the scale length of a baritone is not 30". That's the overall length. The scale length is usually 19".
Not to be a downer, but the size difference with soprano - tenor, doesn’t make the sound any deeper, but more resonate. Now baritone, with the appropriate string set, is actually deeper. Also your hand size doesn’t matter. My big fat fingers can play a soprano perfectly, and even get to the higher frets with no trouble. Now with that said, you should definitely look into getting a ukulele. Everyone should have a ukulele.
Your scale lengths seem to be off by about 6” or so. Sopranos scales are around 13” Concert roughly 14”-16” Tenors scale length is 16”-18” (I generally build to 17”) Baritone 18”-20” Bass ~21” For comparison, guitar scale length tends to be in the 24”-26” range and bass guitars 31”-34”
Scale length is different than over all length. A soprano is typically 21 inches long all together while the scale length is the length the strings are able to vibrate and be played, nut to saddle.
Hey! How easy was it to learn? I want to pick up something easy then eventually move up to a guitar - even tho i love the range and versatility of the baritone, im worried the baritone is harder than the other ukes lol. Also- can i play the cheery songs you’d usually associate with other ukes on it? Thanks so much!!
@@kbushehri I was learning it as I was learning the guitar and a lot of it is transferable due to the set up. It has the top 4 strings of the guitar (DGBE) and if you add the capo at 5, you’ve pretty much got a ukulele sound (GCEA) so you can play songs associated with it too. It’s helped a lot with my guitar playing especially for soloing, and even for music theory. It has made it a bit hard to go back on to the guitar because I’m comfortable with the baritone and so when I’m playing the guitar, unless it’s a barre chord, and the normal open chords, I tend to neglect the bottom two strings (EA) so be aware of that.
