Very masterful with an array of tools , machinery and machining- your artistry is out of sight - a craftsman- with pomade and barbering- outstanding sir. Best regards Jim
My friend....I could watch you do this kind of work all day. You are an extremely talented individual. I am a barber and would be flattered to do my craft in such a work of art. Congtats !
just blown away by your talent! like famasmaster2000 said I could watch your video all day long! absolutely amazing! I am a barber too and I've got 4 old vintage chairs I wished you lived in the UK so I could have them restored by you sir.
Man your talent is just phenomenal. Your creativity with the armrests and handle was very cool. Be proud of yourself man. To be that precise in all phases from machining, welding, upholstery and to wood working, the end cap on the handle was just sick man, takes such a degree of patience and skill. Nice springer front end by the way!
Haha I appreciate it so much! I got so busy. I made this video while restoring that chair during a time I was trying to find space to open the barbershop. I’ll try and do more! I wanted too.
@@theironsociety9475 go for it! The shop has a very nice look to it t too! Like I said i enjoyed watching and you make good use to the tools you have with your skills! I sure would like too what you come up next! The barbers chair turn out awsome though good quality craftaman replacement parts!
Também sou barbeiro apaixonado ,gostei de mais , muito obgdo por postar isto!! I have a barber shop too and I love my work, I like so much that video!! and thank you very much for posted it!
This is the best and most passionate video I’ve seen. Is like watching the end of a suspense movie. I have a Emil J Paidar in my garage. Is in excellent condition but I’m having a little problem with the hydraulic. I don’t know what state you are, I’m in New Jersey, but if you can give me a hand on how to operate. I will appreciate it. Don’t know how much you charge for consulting, but Don’t hesitate if you can reach out to me. Thanks 🤩
That video clearly explains part of your personality you're very thorough an "all in" kinda guy. Take no prisoners. Cut off the middle men. Be the source. I enjoyed that video. Im working on a chair right now its a koken but im having trouble reassembling it. Let me know if im asking for too much but i need your phone number i have questions that you can answer as simple as the blink of an eye. I wish we lived in the same state I'd drive straight to you but im in Connecticut. But please leave me a contact if its not too much. Share the freedom.
Do you have different forms of contact im in the process of restoring 2 1920's kochs and i needed some tips if possible! Thanks any advice would help. Great video as well.
In desperate need of getting a 1962-64 KOCHS barbershop chair fixed. Does anyone know of a repair person or repair shop in the central Virginia area? Specifically the Roanoke, Lynchburg, Charlottesville area.
Hello!!! Great video, do you make parts for barber chairs ? If so I am curious if you could build a few pieces for me. I can pay I just need to know your prices. Thank you!
I am doing a restoration on a paidar chair! looks just like the one you are working on , can you provide information on how the chair works? also how the pump works , willing to pay for good information. How can I contact you???
I’m not sure, I bet they exist somewhere, in paper form but people prob want you’re first born for it. Maybe online somewhere. There has to be forums for it. I’ve always just dove right in to stuff, for better or worse 😂 these things are fairly simple, just gotta watch all the parts moving and see what they’re doing, or not doing.
That's very cool to see you restore a barber chair like that. I wish I knew a way to know how to fix the hydraulics. Message me if you know anything. Much appreciated
I know this comment is 5 years old and you may not see it. I have a chair from 1962 and need to get the hydraulics worked on. Any ideas/recommendations? Am based out of Virginia
Thanks man! I wish I could remember. Im not much of a wood guy. I just grabbed a darkish one and lightish hardwood. I want to say the lighter wood was birch. They were actually scrap pieces from a different project.
That was just a wire wheel on a disc grinder. One with the finer or thinner barbs or whatever. SAFETY GLASSES them things go flying everywhere but work really well without beating up the nickel plating.
Haaa was waiting for one of these comments. Self taught everything, they’ve gotten better since then...a little. None have broke though on way more stressed out things.
Hey, yeah man there was a crack in the back rest and I welded it up a little bit and smoothed it out. then hit the whole area with a thin layer of bondo to match that porcelain layer. Then epoxy primer, and just spray painted it with an ivory white, then 2k clear coat. To be honest the paint is not holding up well and looking back the sea foam green it used to be would have looked great in my shop. haha
@@theironsociety9475 you can sandblast the porcelain layer to give bite to the primer and the paint, porcelain is so hard that untreated surface has much diffiiculty to accept an organic coating
Oh man, I dont even know what I would have to get for doing all that. Since I only do that stuff for a hobby Im not really sure. There are so many variables in there with the old stuff like this, especially with the cast iron, I had a lot of trouble with that and its not even in the video! haha Theres a guy out there that does it for a living, I cant remember his name, If I come across his IG page I will post it back here. They are insane and Im sure $$$.

Is anybody could tell the period? is it a 1920, 1940?
This chair is likely from the 50’s 60’s though a proper historian can prob tell you the exact date.

How do I find cylinder pump rebuild kit
I’m not sure, it might be a job for a local machine shop.
What did you use to sand or polish the metal trim ?

The TIG welding looks like bird shit with a head cold lol But I did like the video
