Very nice. I have two Kochs barber chairs, from 1918, and they are always a hit with those who love antiques. I've collected, sold, and loved antiques for 50 years, ever since I got my grandparents oak ice box when I was young. Wayne out West (Denver area)
I’m all the way in Chattanooga Tennessee but I’m looking to open a shop and bought my first antique chair for the shop this weekend , I want to get 5 chair total and restore each one to a different era . . If you ever want to get rid of them and know the story of them will live on I would love to see them and work it out to get if possible . It’s a Shot in the dark just from reading comments so I wanted to ask !
I just scored one as well - my Dad pulled in from the basement of an old bank back in the 80s and it’s been sitting in pieces since. I think all there but in pieces. Wood in good shape, all the metal very rusted. Pump works but leaking. Tackling the same project as you. Thanks!!!
I have seen old barber chairs, none as nice as this and wanted to restore. I guess it is a good thing I never drug one home. Thanks for allowing me to share you experience. Old hairdressers like old barber chairs too! Lol
Restoring one is lots of work but it's been worth it. If you find a newer one porcelain type, just make sure that the porcelain doesn't need refinished.
Hello, I have a Koken oak wood framed chair w/ copper and brass.. what would you recommend fir hydraulic fluid? Mine was restored in the 70's and I'd like to checkout the insides for myself
I have 2 of the same chairs, also a 2 station Koken back bar with a 6' Koken wooden barber pole. Chairs need done like yours but all of this stuff was bought in St Louis around 1900. I have the history on the salesman name
@@thefreezedryingcommunity that makes sense. It's a gorgeous piece and expertly redone. We're enjoying your HR videos a lot and we're really just getting started on our homestead journey (at almost 50). Wish us luck!
I have wanted a barber chair for awhile now but I tend to gravitate told the less common and unusual. I saw it on Craigslist and had to have it. It's got some great history as well.
Just subscribed, nice channel. I can relate, just started a channel also, and retired at age 50, three years ago. Stop in some time on the channel, wish you the best and keep making them, doing great!
@@thefreezedryingcommunity i have a 1930 koken and a presidential koken Getting the 1930 done but man i didnt realize nickel plating was so expensive seems higher them chrome? You thoughts
So why did you nor cover the arms? I restore these for a living and though I can't usually stand to see a chair covered in hide...yours, other than not covering the arms, cane out nice...P.S from what I see your chair is not 100% complete...but who is counting...youre only missing one part that I can see. Good job.
Great job. Glad to see you had it all re-plated. Go big or go home.
👍

Thanks Doug. Lots of work, but it's my prize piece now.
It’s beautiful! I’m just curious about the little paper tube. What made you decide not to reattach it? Great work!
I will put it back on. I think i am going to have it refinished as well. It doesn't stand out as much as the rest of the renickeled stuff.

Good Luck Kellie! Congrats
Great restoration! Absolutely beautiful! 👍 BTW: Do you know what barbershops were also called in the 19th century? Answer: Tonsorial parlors. 😊
Good quality build but I think the Cow hide looks terrible imo
At 7:23 her threw up the white power sign 🥺😭
This is awesome how much did you spend in total in restoration cost?
I think with the chair purchase i had about $1300 into it
Very good work very impressed.. Rick restorations can learn from you..
Cuz he does lousy work..
Did you look for a barber chair for awhile trying to find one complete? Or did you just happen on one at an antique mall and said that looks classy?

Will do! Congrats on retirement and the channel! It's lots of work, but if you are passionate about what you are creating, it feels well worth it!
Not my style but i love the nickel and wood as a master barber
🙏thanks
