Beaver dam removal

I don't understand why he's pulling the sticks off the dam and putting them in the water. I understand that if large sticks go in the water they'll eventually float down and start to cause another blockage somewhere.

Shoveling it downstream only creates a blockage downstream

Anyone else would pile it all up on shore so it won't make another dam downstream. Live and learn.
