I've always thought it would be a fun idea to cut / saw a Gibson Double Neck in Half, because then you'd have TWO guitars for the price of one! On top of that, despite looking like SGs, the body shape is a little bit different so you'd have a totally unique guitar. Imagine, the lead guitarist is playing the 6 string on stage while the singer uses the 12-string for chords - the crowd would go insane! One day, I hope Gibson produces a single EDS style guitar as a limited edition.

Not a Gibson guy myself, so the Chibson angle went right by me- but the moment I saw Trogly willingly install strap locks I knew there was something screwy going down. 🤣
I knew it was a Chibson as soon as I saw the video's thumbnail and also saw this confirmed by the dime-sized pots and cheap wires - just the April Fools Day connection had gone right past me, duh! 😅
I liked Rick Nielsen's guitar from Cheap Trick.

Matt Pike for the bands High on Fire and Sleep used to use a 9string guitar (First Act) where the 3 high strings are dubbeled.

You know, you could put them back together with a piano hinge and then you could fit them into a smaller case folded.
Mike Ruthford from Genesis had a few detachable Doubleneck Bass, 6 string and 12 string halfes made from shergold guitars and basses. They were put together by using some metal bars in the back and he could combine whatever he wanted or needed. If you look closely at pictures of those doublenecks you can see where they were put together.

I’ll just add that a 4” wide strap makes these type of instruments MUCH more pleasant to carry.
Tried it on a real one, and a 4” Levy’s still doesn’t help much

As Trogly started sawing i think i lost the ability to breath, my vision went blurry, and i started hearing the voice of my long dead great great great grandmother tell me to throw away my PC. Suffice to say, i shall never recover.
For a Chibsun their sound is gnarly! Loved the tones!
Now a true "Mad Man" would use a Skilsaw. 120v plugged into 220v, just to be sure.

Try a Nashville Tuning!!!. That's where you remove all the low end strings on the 12 string. Then with the help of a capo you can get some really nice MANDO style sounds from your guitar. I used to use a Nashville Tuned guitar for over dubbing when recording folk style tunes.

I recently bought one of the Firefly bass/six string combos, and while it it essentially a Chibson, it sure is fun. Mine is 13 lbs, so not too outrageously heavy. I’m kinda sorry to see one get hacked up, even if it is for April Fools day.
I literally got mine today from my dad.
Hardshell case and everything.
Only thing I don't like about it is the tuning pegs on the 6 string get in the way when I'm playing low on the bass neck.
But how fun of a guitar huh?!

This red is gorgeous. I have the Gibson too but with white with gold trim. I used it while playing the big hotels in the Catskills. I loved it, I used to try and let the glare from the spotlights zap the guests. They laughed and got into it, my band boss grumbled lol. It’s very hefty and awkward to play. It sounded excellent and our shows were only an hour or so so it wasn’t all that bad. I never used it for a full 4hr gig. I’m still playing but now using a Gibson LP tribute bass DC instead of lead. I’d rather be in a pocket than out front. I’ve done my time lol

for a chibson its actually built a bit better than the Epiphone ones, at least in terms of construction, while ive never had one of the current epi 1275s ive got an 07 one and its a maple/mahogany plywood body
obviously not as playable as my epi is due to the setup and fretwork but its still "more traditional" in construction than the epi
