      Thanks for asking. Yes, still sticking with it for sure! There are of course times I slack off or give in to a sugar craving and each time I pay for it because my Crohn's disease flares up. Being on the diet relatively consistent for almost 3 years has allowed me to be off of all medications and immunosuppressants for well over 2 years. So I don't plan to ever give up eating healthy.

    This reminds me of a story my dad told me about when he lived in Phoenix, he said that one night my dad was just coming out of a store and as he was walking his feet kept sticking to the ground so he looked down and his flip flops had started melting on the road! One of my favorite stories of his.

    I remember during gym class in my school on a 101 degree day in Phoenix Arizona, we went outside and it was hot af. And the worst part is my coach made us do push-ups on the hot road and our hands kept burning and the more we stood up to cool our hands the more push ups we had to do. It was pure torture 🥲

    Tip: try putting the glass lid on top of the pan. This will still let the hot sun into the pan, but will no let the heat inside radiate away. Combine this with a mirror and it is almost guaranteed. I was able to fry an egg in only 101 degrees in Denver using this technique.

    yep - a little crazy
    I had a project in Phoenix over one summer. I brought shades for the rental car, but one day I got in the car and reached over to put seat belt on and the metal part was not shaded - it left a burn mark on my arm as I brushed against reaching over. Rather painful - pretty much like a hot curling iron. I could not live there.
    Thanks for the diversion.

    Even on an 80°F day pavement can get extremely hot, maybe hot enough to fry an egg. Find a black surface that gets the sunlight reflected onto it, that way it gets double the sunlight. I haven’t tried frying an egg yet, but your knuckles won’t last even half a second on the pavement.

    I’m not exaggerating, I promise you! On the correct pavement, with sunlight reflected back onto it from a window, on a 72°F day, I measured 223°F on sunlit pavement with an infrared thermometer! Even in places without double sunlight it can reach 190°F! (The emissivity setting was set to 0.95, so it can accurately measure any non reflective, non metal surface). No need to go to Arizona to fry an egg.

    I think the only reason that the egg in car isnt gonna cook so quick than the one on the asphalt is that heat has many different ways to deliver it to an object.
    Heat from the molecules in air or by the transfer of 2 each other touching objects with the different temps.
    I think the object to measure the heat doesnt clarify where the heat comes from in this case the pan in the car could be around 160°F and the air around it 188°F however the direct heat from the pan outside must be the heat source and the air molecules have less heat than the pan

    Notice something when they *cook the egg on the asphalt* . So, the pan starts *cooking the egg* immediately when its cracked into the pan yet when the egg whites drip on the asphalt after hes done cracking the egg into the pan, it stays clear and uncooked..... I smell a preheated frying pan....

    • @Jay-om8gr
      @Jay-om8gr 2 роки тому +1

      No. The pan is iron which absorbs wayyy more heat than asphalt and it’s pure black versus the grayish/dirt cover asphalt. Pure black color absorbs far more sunlight than anything else. Additionally the Pan had a smaller surface area so less room to spread out/dilute its heat versus the entire road.
