    New viewer and sub here from Alabama because you earned it! - After 30+ years in the auto hail repair & claims business as a PDR technician, I can appreciate the challenges and solutions you demonstrate while performing your craft in public. Nice work! Although dent repair is a totally different skill, removing and replacing headliners, trim, sunroofs, lift-gates, hoods, trunks, doors, etc for access is just as tedious when dealing with the various clips and fasteners used on the interiors, some of which are one time use. Our worst nightmares are usually pre-existing electrical issues and gremlins to sort out. I really enjoy the channel as well as respect your skill, demeanor and honesty as a tech plus I've picked up several tips along the way, so thanks! The only problem I have with you is that now I find my self saying "CLICK" when anything clicks or should click. lol!

    In the Volvo community we call that the torque bar, if that goes out then you pretty much need to replace the rest of the motor mounts, there is another one directly below that. If the one below it goes out you will hear a grinding noise when you let off the gas. Also don't forget the pcv system, it's on the top of the motor behind the oil cap. It will cause a high pitch squeal.

    • @Fern635

    Yeah... A Volvo repair! Wife will only drive a Volvo (3d one) so I've become very versed in Volvo repairs. One of ours was rear-ended and had a bunch of those same codes... Looking at that duct tape repair job it's been hit or backed into something. I would guess some of those EGR lines are bent/broken. I know they declined but I had flashbacks to the day when my wife got rear-ended at a stop light by a tween one her phone! Thanks for sharing. P.S. I've replaced the top engine mounts on her S60 twice... Cheap parts mean doing it twice!

    I bought an auction car. I brought to a shop I knew nothing about. I wanted an alignment but I knew it needed front end work. After they had taken the front wheels off, the manager brought me back while it was on the lift. He had a list of items. He gave them to me and showed me why the items needed to be fixed. After the alignment, I went home and ordered all of the front end parts on EBay. I did the work, without having to do any diagnostics. Those engine light codes have been brewing for some time. Where I live in the UK, if the engine warning light is on then the car will fail its annual MOT test and that means your car is off the road until it's fixed (the same with things like ABS warning lights, airbag lights and so on).
    I any event, it would seem the owner's maintenance policy with that car is to do the minimum to keep it running and I suspect it will go to an early grave.

    • @MrShiftyeyesshady

      Do they run scan codes? Or could you just unwire the light behind it and get away with scamming them.

    • @TheEulerID
      @TheEulerID 2 роки тому

      @@MrShiftyeyesshady You can't just disconnect the dash warning lights as there all light up for a few seconds when the ignition is turned on as a check the bulbs are working. It the lamps don't come on, it's a dead give away (things like ABS lights and so on, same system). It would be necessary to wire up a lamp with a timer. It's possible of course, but those bulbs are normally plugged straight into a dashboard PCB, so it's not trivial either.
      Also, there are emissions checks performed too, and if the failure affects that it will fail.

      Yup. I had an '83 Phoenix and always kept a spare on hand. Don't know why they broke so often considering the engine was fairly gutless and the 2 trans mounts were stiff as hell. The mounts on the A bodies were much better for vibration isolation.

    Ray have you ever considered wearing a silicone wedding band at work? They are non conductive and you can’t get your finger stuck in any tight space. People in the trades have de-gloved, amputated or gotten zapped due to a metal ring. I stopped wearing one altogether while working.
    It’s just a thought. Silicone rings are really cheap on Amazon.

    Those micro switches on the trunk is known to go bad. Ford here in Europe use the same type on their Mondeo (Contour) and they are also known to go bad from time to time. On most Ford's there is a hidden key hole in event of that micro switch decide to not work. I think some Volvos has them as well.

    That trunk latch is missing the spring, or it has broken. It is actually an easy fix the lever that you squeeze can manually be tilted forward that would need to be done each time before the trunk is closed. Pushing the leaver forward should allow the remote to actuate the switch as well.

    Hey Rey...the cap displeases me as well. I have the same tank in my 2014 Mondeo. I found it easier to remove and replace once the engine is warmed up. They seem to get tight with age. I did eventually replace the cap with a new one and it was easy to remove cold or hot.
