Thanks to Jesse for making the intro and graphic for us to enjoy!!
Thank you very much Ray for taking good care of my Car! I have another Honda coming your way!
Fluid Film
Ray, you do realize that you're very lucky to have such a versatile tech as Dave who can do anything and is willing to do anything, even training.
And Dave is extremely lucky to have a “boss” like Ray. What an absolutely wonderful place to work!
Ray is a good boss as well, shitty shops and shitty owners are why I don't do automotive work anymore. No shops want to hire and keep honest mechanics.
It's always nice to work with another person who understands the task at hand and knows what's next. Not having to ask a person to move this or loosen that, it's like you can communicate without words. When you get accustomed to that flow, and then have to break in a new person, you realize quickly how awesome in this case Dave is.
Heaven smiled down on you the day Dave walked into your shop.
Amen to that !!!!
Heaven smiled on Ray when he met the wife unit and hasn't stopped since. We get to gleen from the abundance thereafter 😎😎😎😎👏👏👏👏👏
I love seeing that you are teaching the next generation of mechanics instead of parts changers. Thank you for that.
Everyone needs a Dave.
Dave has the reds man… just ask Cheech or Chong…
A Super Dave!!! 😳😳😎😎🤣🤣
I worked in a three-man team at a dealership - way back in the day - and it was great working with people you were confident with their abilities. I see similar in your three-man working together. Good to see it. I think you are going to have a great working relationship with them. Thanks for the great video.
Datsun dealership, 1970s to early 80s. 🍻
A three man team worked out well for installing the steering boxes in my Chevelle and Monte Carlo. One under, one over, and one wiggling the steering wheel. Took about a minute.
It’s nice to see you and Dave teaming up on a job. I know Dave is a little camera shy but he’s a good tech and it’s fun to watch you two interact.
Yo, Justin. I'm a few years retired now, but still recall my "early era" of standing around, mostly keeping out of the way, and being given all the grunt work. Looking back then, those were some of the best days of my life. I had pretty much zero responsibilities and I was learning so much that I wasn't even aware of at the time.
You're a part of a great team who are also excellent teachers. I kinda envy you.
I would say Dave is worth every penny you pay him , very good job
Love guys like Dave. Confident, but not cocky, willing to help and do any jobvand q very nice guy too!
Dave seems like a blessing... he seems like the kinda guy that doesn't work "fast", but he works methodical and doesn't let himself be distracted and because of that he does more than the average worker and does it well. He actually seems to be the opposite of Ray... not that Ray does a bad job of course, but Ray is always rushing and quite chaotic and gets distracted easily at times. Opposites usually work well together, play of each others strengths. Willing to bet that Dave rarely gets frustrated or worked up, and never gets angry... also kinda like the opposite of Ray, he kinda wears his emotions on his sleaves.
Morning Ray Dave Justin wife unit just finished watching steering gear it’s awesome all three of you working together learning from you and as always you all be safe 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I'd imagine that Justin feels left out at times, but hang in there "Grasshopper" ! Your day will come. Always have to pay the dues ! As for Dave, A VERY GOOD HIRE ! You can tell his wisdom by the grey streaks in his hair !
Great team Get her done.
Only the right channel is working in the video
Looks like he went back to his GoPro. The relative channel is defective either on the mic, or the connection to the camera. The video quality is superior to the phone.
The left channel worked twice for about a second each time
Dave needs to be promoted to shop manager. We thinks he has proven his himself.
You think that's rusty?
Eric O. has left the chat.
Love Dave's quiet demeanor and great attitude. He is a great asset to your business.
Having a very professional mechanic like Dave makes a world of difference. Even before Ray asks about if the bolts are loose, Dave had done it. And it seems Justin is getting there as well. What a team.
Dave:The quiet storm.
Dave is an absolute GOAT. Handily anticipates what needs to be done and by the time Ray's checking to make sure he's done those things, he's already done them and is ready to move on to the next step. Easily someone who can be depended on to just get things done. And Justin's always right there when you need him, ready to put his hands and tools where you need them, too. Ray you got yourself some fine wrenchies working for you in your shop. :)
Dave is working not talking. Nice teamwork
Echoing a lot of other comments, your man Dave seems a real decent guy and a great technician 👌🤘💪
Good afternoon! Teamwork gets the job done. Great video as usual. Hope the weather is being kind to you in your part of the woods. Enjoy the rest of your day!
You guys work good together. Teamwork!!!
Wow all hands on deck👍👍
Dave is the man.
You have a great team Ray. Strong work
Dave is the man
Sooo. Dave is awesome.
15:15 Steering fluid drops are falling on my head.....🎶🎵
I love special tools❤
thx Ray, Dave and Justin!
123rd! Good afternoon Ray,Lauren,Dave, and Justin. Well, at least it isn’t a oil pan replacement. Roger in Pierre South Dakota
I reiterate my opinion Dave is the best mechanic in that shop.
The dream team:
Wife Unit
Dave
Ray
Justin.
Like a few others have said, Ray and Dave are doing that young gun a great service by getting him working, teaching him in the best way, and showing him what a great team looks like. Also, that it doesn't matter how much you know, you can always benefit from working with others.
I flipped out when you just tapped on the bolt head & knew what size it was! Been subscribed for years always hoping to learn more.
weird audio thing, only my right speaker, Must be shot in mono lol (kidding) great stuff as usual.
Yep, only sound through 1 speaker.
@@MichaelVermylensame only earpiece but the transition are in both ear …
He dropped his Go-Pro back in the day. Thats why he was using his phone, but its a slightly lower quality of video, so I guess he either 1. Needed his phone that day or 2. Went back to the Go-Pro despite it being broken to have a good quality video.
I always love hour your videos are honest. So many you tubers make it look like all jobs are easy and you never hit problems.
Ray says "rusty crusty"
Illinois guy says "light toning"
I thought for a second when that bell/phone ringed at 36:00, Ray would do the dooodledooodledoooo
Ray, I'd say in your line of work there is no easy way, just a less hard way.
Thank you for sharring your work and knowledge with us.
Ray I think you created a good work environment and good people look for this, and people that show up on time and are always reliable, that make an effort become great mechanic. Nice videoRay
Every time you say "This will be quickish", I feel like you jinxed yourself.
Ray - When the audio channel stuff happens, just tell your editing software to mirror the good audio channel to the other side. (aka mirror the right audio channel to the left) It isn't a replacement for stereo, but its a lot better than 43 mins of me wondering if my headphones are broken. :)
thought mine were too had to plug speakers in to check lol
And now they are tag teaming the job Ray you have a great crew
I love it SOO SOO
Every time you talk about rust, I think of what Eric O at South Main Auto has to deal with on a daily basis. Im fluid filming my vehicle annually. I wish the US would take a page out of Japan's playbook and start utilizing heated roads instead of salt.
Japan has 57 nuclear reactors in an area that us 64 times smaller than North America(Canada, US and Mexico).
19 in Canada, 94 in USA and 1 in Mexico.
@@philipmackin1025your strawman arguments are useless! Heated roads could be operated only when needed by utilizing solar power. It's not like the roads would need to be heated 24/7 or even every day for that matter! The American citizens pay $2 trillion a year in taxes, we could easily afford heated roads in the northern states. The road would only need to be heated a few months out of the year. As far as your pathetic strawman argument, Japan uses solar, underground sewage pipes, along with heated sprinkler systems to clear their roads.
3:29 being a northern folk every cotterpin I ever touched looked just like that. Exhaust manifolds are the nightmare for us.
You’re reminding me that I still need to figure out the interference in the steering linkage on my project car… Dangit Ray why are you making me productive?😊
Transfer the nipple with your finger motion had me laughing out loud that my wife asked what was going on 🤣
Great vid and yes it is a lot easier when a couple of people work together on the same job. Theres also a well known saying by a lot of youtubers " If you want to make videos like a pro stay away from gopro "
A job well done when everyone pitches in for the win
Really great to see you working in harmony with your co-workers. Drives me mad when you have to " micro control" every aspect of their work ( like a certain concrete layer).
I really enjoy teamwork. T.y.
Oh, Ray, seeing you and your technicians work together makes me almost want to move out to Bradenton and try to work for you too! I'm not a big fan of "corporate" employment, I've been self-employed so long. But if I was going to work for a business, it would be one like yours, sir. Keep up the good "bossin'".
Welcoming back!
Handy tips for viewers / others 1. Always manually "center" the replacement rack before fitment 2.Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF.) is commonly used by some Manufacturers in Power Steering Systems Racks should not have fluid in the Tierod Boots .If so the outer fluid seals in the rack have failed .4 Also a good idea to "Lock" the Steering wheel in the straight ahead position after removing the connecting shaft Bolt Before removing the Rack. Can use the seat belt to do this .Good video
No sh*t sherlock. And no Honda's don't use ATF in their power steering system.
Ray you have a very good employee Justan keep him, he's gonna be ready for the BIG TIMES, or even taking over your shop when your sick.
Happy Monday, Ray and team!🍻
I love what you are doing mat
Good day to you too Ray 🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
Couldn't let the day go with angry technician
2 for 1 day for videos?? Today is a good day
NO STEREO COMES AND GOES
Dave rules. That's not rust per say, just patina.😊
Good day Ray and hi to the guys
You've got the a team on this one.
36:30 LOL @ Ray talkin' $#!t again 🤣
Man remember the days of all air tools, now all cordless. It's so nice. I used to run a mix of Milwaukee and DeWalt but when things broke I had to wait weeks for the shipping so I decided to do the Hercules I know I know blasphemy! But now if one breaks I go 2 miles down the road and get the replacement for free but in the past 5 years only 1 tool needed to be replaced along with 1 battery FYI NOT A SPONSOR. And I'm not killing my wallet on a new tool.
good trio
Holy Mackerel i thought my speaker had blown, Good job Dave
We need to clone Dave, we all need a Dave.
Nice repair. Fun video, thanks
Great team work!
Put the seat belt through the steering wheel and plug it in, stopes the wheel moving . Good team work
Still in the "Sôô..." mode? Funny man.

Han Solo:
"What an incredible smell you've discovered!"
Star Wars, 1977
The Goonies quote Ray
Sound was fine
What a difference a Dave makes
You have lost sound again. It comes back towerds the end. I like that commentary
Wisconsin cars are crying at the great condition and complete lack of rust of this car.
Last fall I replaced the r & pinion in my Grand Prix, in my garage with the car on jack stands. Saved a lot of money. I will NEVER do that again.
Hey Ray, when your done with Dave, can i have him? : ) Everyone needs a Dave...
Anybody else think Dave look like he should be in movies with Al Capone or the mob? 😂 Guy look like a movie star
you need to get the sound sorted,, good to see Dave
So, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so!
Once in a while when you walk around I get stereo sound but most of the time only the left channel the last 3 minutes your audio was great
Welcome back Cotter pin.....
Dont have time to watch now, but ive an Si of this year, with some concerns about the P/S rack. Thanks for this vid, ill check it later
That is definitely not northland rust. If so, you’d never be able to distinguish between the cotter pin and the tie rod. 😂
Geese... Dave got a boneaphide fan base now... Alright dave go Dave....
Ray's worried about the outer tie rods, but re-uses the rusty power steering lines and leaves oil-soaked sway bar bushings.
you do good voiceovers so no big deal.
Nice Tag team Ray Man great video
Besides doing a few oil changes, replacing steering rack and pinion was my first car job. Took me a week of preparation and 2 days of work, that was before UA-cam times. I was so proud of myself. But did not have extra money to do the wheel alignment and in 2 years my tires got badly worn.
Dang that was a lot of
Work
So many drops in today’s video and no “gravity “ comments.
Not happy Ray🤣🤣🤣🤣
