Life of a Woodsman - BBQ Grouse and Rice
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 лис 2023
- After successfully harvesting a spruce grouse I am able to enjoy my first taste of fresh meat at this camp. I skewer the meat and grill it up over a bed of hot coals. Paired with a pot of rice it makes for a delicious and filling meal.

No annoying background music, no begging for "like & subscribe", no yelling of 8 words per second - just you in the wild. I really appreciate that format!
Bingo!

The Bob Ross of bushcraft 👍🏻
Thank you!
you deserve so much love and peace, i hope you live the life you want. your lifestyle is so inspiring and unique. wish there were more people like you. keep going man!
Looks delicious! I recently had a Ruffed Grouse cooked over a camp fire, no better way! There’s as much or more meat on the legs and wings as the breast. Heart, liver and gizzard as well. You took the animals life, you owe it to it not to waste it.
You bet! Ruffed grouse are great eating! For the wings, legs, and organs I like them best in stews/soups. They cook up real nice in a pot with potatoes, onions, and carrots. Thanks for tuning in. Happy trails!
Really enjoying the little vignettes of camp life, thank you for sharing them with us 🙂
Thank you for tuning in!
Your channel is really taking off. I'm happy for ya. Grouse looks tasty.
Always enjoy watching!!
The grouse bowl....... Coming to a Chipotle near you! 👍
That's a really good looking meal. Cheers, and God Bless! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️🇨🇦
Thanks for tuning in! God bless you too!
Looks delicious! No grouse in my neck of the woods, but we do have dove and quail. Enjoy your videos!
Excellent man. Love some nice bird a. Great video. Thank you. Cheers 🍻 Keep on campin.
Thanks for tuning in! Happy trails! 🍻
chopping wood, effortless and safe...nice. Nom nom nom yum yum yum. Pretty nifty. You make it look easy. I feel like I could skin, process, and cook a grouse now. Thanks.
Looking Good. 🐦
Outstanding video and editing!

Thank you for watching!

That grouse was beautiful 😅
Awesome that’s it love it
I just ate but you gave me an appetite again. This video needs more views.
That looked super Tasty my friend. All you need now is a soothing Bowlful of a good smoke and a nice Tot of Whiskey or a nice Bourbon 👍👍
Haha you've got that right! Thanks for watching. Happy trails!
Really enjoying this series! Thx
Looks good
Thanks for watching!
Great stuff!
Great lunch/Dinner any time 👍
I bet it was delicious. I like bbq meat and white rice. Fresh meat is always good. It's amazing how much food you can obtain with a 22 rifle.
Absolutely. A small firearm makes a big difference in the amount of game you can get. Thanks for watching!
Great video 👍
Real blessings to watch your video.
Thank you for watching!!
Looking really tasty ( and made me hungry for some grouse )
It sure was a great meal. Thanks for watching. Happy trails!
Yum… handy trick with stick roasting…
I also like the video over on The Way Too Native Chronicles “How to cook a grouse”… personally tho I like em fried in a pan with a couple strips of bacon and a couple shakes of Lawrys seasoning salt…. Normally I keep a 1oz nalgene container mixed 50/50 with garlic powder and seasoning salt in my hunting bag…. Just in case 😉
I’ve watched numerous bushcraft channels. Yours is my fave!
Thanks!
Enjoying every second of the video, please keep going!
Love the knife buck 110
Fantastic videos. Love watching them.
Love the series, keep up the great videos!
That looks amazing. Really enjoying your videos, especially these recent ones.
An important part of any tourist trip is a delicious dinner in a picturesque place. Therefore, culinary skills must be constantly improved in order not to spoil the impression of traveling)))
Looking delicious. Thanks.
What a wonderful way of enjoying the fall.
Thank you so much. I am enjoying these short segments.
Great video! Thanks so much
A meal like that deserves a good smoke on the the Ole pipe! My choice today is captain black/royal. 😊 MY son got a squirrel the other day and we pretty much did it the same way you did..except with brown rice and onions 😋
That sounds delicious. Squirrel season just opened here so I'll be busy harvesting some soon. Thanks for sharing! Happy trails.
I haven't had grouse since I left the wilderness 35 years ago.
Looks tasty and delicious Ryley 😋
Looking forward to your hunting and trapoing videos in your other channel.
Great information and looks tasty 🎉
Man that looked awesome 💯. Yummy 😋
This series is great.
Really want to taste this!
Everything looked delicious minus the BBQ sauce. I bet the grouse would have been good with the seasonings but you're the chef 👨🍳 so bon appetite
Bit cheaper than a restaurant lovely LOL! Little john from the UK
A moment of silence for that grouse who gave his life so that we all could enjoy this video. )
That looked delicious😋
THE BEST
Looks good! I want to do that someday, too. Now I know how to cook it, thanks!
i didn’t kno it was safe to lay meats directly on coals and consume. i’m not a person who ventures the wilderness but very much enjoy your content. thanks for sharing and stay safe!
I was thinking the same thing… you probably dont want to eat the ashes and char… carcinogens and all.
@@bongwatershark it’s not da first time i’ve seen it either. genuinely curious tbh
Recently subscribed to your channel...great content, well made, very educational. Thank you. What I am most impressed with is your sound quality. Would you please share what your video, audio and editing systems are?
Yum!
What has been a while since I have seen any of your videos, but nobody eats better than you😅
Dziękuję za wspólną przygodę pozdrawiam serdecznie 🤗👍👏💪🐺🐾🏞️🥇☕🍰💚🙌
freshest meat? nice
I wonder what grouse tastes like, I've never had the chance to try it...
Looks pretty dark, so probably a strong, meaty taste?
The grouse shown in this video was a Spruce Grouse and yes, they have a dark red meat. I would agree with your guess and say the meat has a strong red meat taste. This type of grouse is often not targeted because many people don't enjoy the taste. Personally I think they taste great especially when cooked up the way I've shown in this video.
Thanks for watching! Happy trails.
I was there for 20 years.
I feel like you should carry a tiny brush, for getting the coals off of the meat
I'm surprised you don't bring some garlic and onion powder out with you. You can make almost anything taste great with those.
Certainly good seasonings to have. The seasoning salt mix I brought included garlic & onion powder. Thanks for tuning in! Happy trails.
You need a Speedgoat.
Should have shown the whole cleaning process! Looks delicious
I would but a lot of my viewers don't like to see the more graphic aspects of bushcraft.
@@KuskBushcraft totally understand
Curious how you processed the grouse cleanly like that... Next video!
He skun them!! No feathers that way! It's much cleaner that way!
🤤🤤🤤
Those are pretty cool pants, you wax them yourself?
Yup. I have a video on the process I follow when I make a pair of my waxed pants. You can find it on my channel. Thanks for watching!
is that knife a buck 110?
Yup! My trusty 110 that I rarely leave home without.
No no sharp edge on bottom of pan…make a cutting board!
A cutting board would've been greatly appreciated during this trip. I most certainly overlooked it as an important piece of camp gear. I will be including a cutting board in my kit from now on. Thanks for watching! Happy trails.
But how did you catch the rice? Did it fight back?
Try some adventures, like bushcraft. I got bored on your resent upload.
🤮
seasoning, salt and sauce ares for bad cheap meat; what a waste of pure wild life.
I respectfully disagree.
I can understand, I am the only one in the wild eating as it is (raised by old "bucherons" and my Ojibwa grand father); all my partners are using salt and more ;-) @@KuskBushcraft
But hey taste is personal.
